Splinter Cell Conviction on PS3? Never, says Ubi

If you were holding out for Splinter Cell Conviction to eventually make its way to PS3, you're out of luck. Ubi just said on itsforumsthat it really is an MS exclusive thanks to a "link of heart" between the franchise and the platform.

"Splinter Cell Conviction is a true Microsoft exclusive title and there are no plans to have Splinter Cell Conviction on other platforms," said the company.

"There are several reasons behind this choice. First of all, Splinter Cell games are historically linked with Microsoft platforms. The first Splinter Cell on the original Xbox was one of the first games to fully exploit the console's technical possibilities. At that time, Microsoft really believed in the game potential and provided strong support to promote it. So, there is a "link of heart" between the franchise and the platform. Some games are like this (think of Final Fantasy for instance).

"The second reason behind this choice is purely linked to production. Having a single target platform means that we can optimize the game even further, because we only have one type of - console - hardware to support."

It's out at the end of this year. Assuming you're not solely reliant on PS3, obviously.

While in this case I am going to believe Ubisoft...I also recall them swearing up and down for EVER that the original Splinter Cell was exclusive and would NEVER EVER go to PS2. EVER. Despite never ending rumours that the game was in the works, they routinely denied it over and over. Then a little while later....PS2 version.

Then I'm pretty sure they did it for SC2 and again for the first SC game for 360. Ubisoft is literally the worst company in the history of videogames to LIE about game exclusivity and multiplats.

i get the feeling from his comments that maybe MS helped fund the game. if they actually paid Ubisoft money to help with development than id lean toward beleiving the developer. plus theyre the ones making the game so....

Wow, I guess MS just got themselves a hot new exclu-Oh wait...this is Ubisoft. Yeah, I think this has as much a chance of staying exclusive as the next Madden title.

Two things. First it isn't exclusive and second, I plan on getting it for PC, so I couldn't care less that it isn't on PS3.

In that case, they can keep it.

For SW purposes, yes, it's multiplat.

For MS purpouses, it's exclusive.

yeah apparently the 360 is the lead platform and theyre porting it to the PC. so even if the do a PS3 version it might take a while.

The game looked cool at E3, I wanna know more about the MP. I'm just keeping an eye on this one for the moment probably rental at best.

Windows Live does'nt make it anymore "Microsoft exclusive" than Steam games are Steam exclusive IMO.

don't care. MGS dwards SC in all aspects of the stealth genre. SC is like MGS's little brother.

Ubi just specifically stated that if you want to play Splinter Cell on a console it has to be the 360, and the 1st 5 posts are its coming out for the PS3 too.........Fanboys LOL

Well people tend to exaggerate a little imo,but their PC ports(before patching anyway)tend to be badly optimized and have pretty hefty system requirements.Assasins Creed is one example,then there was the first next gen Splinter Cell game which wasn't a particularly good port if I rember rightly.Although Ubisoft may have cleared those issues up with patches.

Although there was Farcry 2which was pretty stable and had fairlymodest system requirements, so who knows?

The last Splinter Cell went to PS3 after a few months. This one will probably make it onto the PS3 somehow, too. 3rd party developers love to do multiplats.

I remember when i completed splinter cell 1 on pc, i read something like "thanks to microsoft and xbox" in the credits....i think that was even in the ps2 verison of pandora tomorrow....they do have link of heart and SC has always been best on xbox compared to other consoles (and overall best on xbox even including pc imo)

An inferior clone of the MGS series not coming to the PS3? I never would have thought a game publisher would be affraid to put their "BEST' wares against the competiton. If you want to talk about Ubi exclusives, you need to be in the Wii forum. Nintendo is getting all that love!

If it doesn't end up on the PS3 I couldn't care less.

I think the Metal Gear Solid series can be easily recognized as best stealth series ever made.

I think its safe to say that MGS4 is EXCLUSIVE to the PS3!
