halo wars, alan wake, splinter cell conviction, and as lemmings love to say and make topics about...
just wait!
maybe Ubisoft didn't want to release another turd in the market this year (Haze)......they need to space them out or they might be viewed as a 3rd rate developer.
Seriously though, I can't believe Haze was delayed so long and it turned out like this. I'm not willing to believe it's a 4.5 game because I played the demo but it wasn't even on par with Resistance which was a launch title. I bet Ubi is crapping their pants right now hoping the poor scores that are probably going to be coming in dont' effect sales........which of course they will. Then you are going to hear about an X360/PC version very soon......they have to recoup that money somehow.
who was even thinking about this game?Dreams-Visions
All those fanboys who have stated that this is MUCH better than MGS 4.
But anyway I was looking forward to this and MGS 4.
It's delayed till whenever actually, going back to the drawing board means they've totally restarted development.
I bet Hobo Sam Fisher is gone :|
I WANTED Hobo Sam Fisher.
thrones
They must of wasted a helluva lotta money then. There is no excuse for it to be an AA now, im expecting AAA Ubisoft.
Was the Pc version Delayed too ?AgentA-Mi6
I guess yes seeing as the whole game was stated to be delayed till '09

Probably because they felt it was too similar to Assassin's Creed, maybe. I for one, would've liked it :(

I read through the post, nothing says it was delayed till '09 except the title, here's another post:
'Well, this is according to a report in the latest issue of Xbox World 360 magazine anyways. As of now, Ubisoft hasn't officially released word on the state of the latest installment of the Splinter Cell title; however, the magazine is saying that it heard the title will now be ready for holiday season 2009 or as late as Spring 2010.'

They've restarted everything. Concept and all.

Microsoft has a big stake in this game too since the reveal of exclusivity, I'm pretty sure they weren't happy with where it was either, so they were willing to chalk it up for '09 or 2010 to get it where they want it.
I actually forgot about that game. Untill I read the title of the topic.
Only games I have on my mind this year are.
1. Gears 2
2. Fable 2
3. Killzone 2
4. Little Big Planet
5. Left for Dead
6. Wrath of the Lich King
And a few others.
All of those except Splinter Cell aren't even worth hyping because we don't even know what the hell they are. And I've yet to see a lemming list Splinter Cell amongst their hyped games of 2008.halo wars, alan wake, splinter cell conviction, and as lemmings love to say and make topics about...

Compare with the high-profile games delayed on the PS3.
Then rethink that post.
Eh, I'll wait for a more reliable source (never heard of that site) and more info before passing judgement, but it's certainly an interesting decision. Not only because of how promising Conviction seemed, but because it's a Ubisoft franchise. At the risk of sounding like I've been hitting the Hatorade I'd speculate the problem was that Ubi Montreal was unable to squeeze what they wanted out of the 360 (in terms of the AI and interactivity between the player and the world).PBSnipes
Another link, but I think they have it as a rumor right now.

I mean thinking about it as in coming out this year? I hadn't even remembered. :?The way I see it, 360 has beat Sony in 08.
09 however is Sonys year, and that is coming from me.
360 needs all the million sellers in 09 it can get.

large complicated games take time. especially if you want to do them right...

Yeah it's a rumor from the magazine "Xbox World 360" so I'm tentatively calling shenanigans, at least until Ubi confirms/denies this. It just doesn't make sense to kill a game that's already been in development for 3 years (IIRC) because it's been "outdated by more recent gaming developments", especially considering I wouldn't call Conviction's gameplay (at least what we know about it) outdated by any means. The way I see it, 360 has beat Sony in 08.

360's '08 line-up is looking pretty weak.AC-360
I wouldn't say that, but it's not really looking that great either.

Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII Versus, Gran Turismo 5, God of War 3 and Killzone 2.
And Project Gotham Racing 5 won't be made as the developers have left to find something else to do. (Bizzare)

never get your hopes up without announcements and with the recent trend even when they are announced keep in mind they are going to be delayed for another 6 months after the announced date
