It's a timed exclusive for PC and 360 at this point...but still, check PSN just in case.:P

Just wait and see how Ubisoft plays this out, officially there is no word.

Just wait and see how Ubisoft plays this out, officially there is no word.

I doubt its a timed exclusive.

I don't doubt it.

This is what I did to come to my belief :

  1. Looking at Splinter Cell's entire History regarding multiplat status,
  2. Looking at Ubisoft's History as a 3rd Party company,
  3. Looking at 3rd Parties multiplatform agnostic policies this entire generation,
  4. Looking at the History of Xbox Timed Exclusive Releases and 3rd Party Timed Deals,
  5. Looking at the install base of the PS3 34 Million (about 5 Million away from 360's install base),
  6. Looking at NDA's within the game industry, and understanding how NDA's work, and why NDA's are employed,
  7. and most importantly, Reading Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat and Lead Splinter Cell : Conviction's Designer Stephen Masters various statements regarding the Splinter Cell : Conviction's Future, I don't doubt at all.

-----------

Two Quotes and Links for you. :P

Link & Quote #1, Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat :

"VideoGamer.com: We're a multiplatform website, and we have many PS3-owning readers who would love to play Splinter Cell: Conviction. Do you have any message for them? Is there any hope for them regarding the game?

Yannis Mallat: There is always hope.

VideoGamer.com: Does that mean Splinter Cell: Conviction might come to the PS3?

Yannis Mallat: I can't predict the future. But it's good to hear that people who can't play Splinter Cell are willing to.

While Mallat's comments do not confirm Conviction's arrival on the PS3, they are cryptic enough to suggest Splinter Cell's days on PS3 may not be over."

------------

Link & Quote #2, Lead Designer Stephen Masters of Splinter Cell : Conviction :

"Don't you dare question the ability of the Splinter Cell: Conviction developers. According tolead designer Stephen Masters, the team "could easily" create the amazing looking sequel for PlayStation 3. That doesn't mean they're going to, however. If it's not a lack of technical know-how, why wouldn't Splinter Cell be coming to Sony's black box o' Blu-ray?

"Well that's purely a business decision. That's it," he explains. "Ubisoft as a company now has a lot of experience with PS3. Our processes, tools, techniques are very well-developed -- we could absolutely execute on the PS3 if we had the opportunity, but like I said it was a business decision."

A business decision? That's one, very tactful way, of putting it, but there's no need for Ubisoft to be so coy. Just tell us many many zeros Microsoft wrote on that check and we'll say no more about it. "

------------

That's just two interviews, there has been other statements, articles, sites, etc.

I'm not too worried about it at any rate, I have the 360 version reserved (why wait?), but I've been keeping track of the news for the game, and this stuff comes up all the time. It's been in development almost as long as Alan Wake.

I'm more inclined to believe it's timed. Officially, "It's only for PC and 360" though.

I thought that might be the case as it was funny, so I went a long with the joke a little bit, but just in case, I also let you know. You never can fully tell in SW.:P.

Perhaps you should have said something like this just now :

"Guys, I have been looking for the game for hours now since my original post! I think I found Splinter Cell in PSN's Store...It may even work on PSP!"

I can't avail myself of my Xbox right now, so I guess I'll wait for the PC demo. I wonder if you'll have to be connected to Ubisoft's servers to play it...

Officially, "It's only for PC and 360" though.

no, the devs confirmed that conviction was not coming to the ps3. the franchise will....so no conviction, only other splinter cells

Sweet. I'm gonna hop on PSN and start downloading right now! Thanks for the heads up!

It's a timed exclusive for PC and 360 at this point...but still, check PSN just in case.:P

Just wait and see how Ubisoft plays this out, officially there is no word.

"Timed exclusive for PC and 360 at this point" - this is semantically incorrect, because you don't know what Ubisoft is up to. Everything you think about what could happen to the game afterwards is a speculation.

Wow, I think you're finding more in these quotes than is really there.

Well, that's just two links/quotes. I've read more than that, but I also must point out my points 1-7 listed above as well.

In the end, whatever happens happens.:P

I just posted what I think based on some information I gathered. It's all good either way.:)

@ jon sNow, i reckon SolidTy(The legend , KingTy)is on the money with that last quote from Stephen Masters " a business decision" it can only mean two things. either the resources ubi spend making games for PS3 dont generate enough of profits. Or MS paid for exclusivity, which could be timed ala Lost and Damned or permanent. sts106mat

Yeah, it's just a guess based on information and history.

It's no biggie to me what happens either way.:P

Do you know what a Timed Exclusive game is? Do you know what NDA's are?

I covered your point before you read my post and quoted me...In fact, to hopefully avoid confusion, I highlighted NDA's in in point 6 orange.

If you aren't aware, companies that make a these sorts of timed exclusive deals, are not allowed to say they got a game in the works, as it would hurt the sales of the game. The whole point of a Timed Exclusive game is to sell more machines/game copies. Games like Star Ocean 4, Bioshock, Tales of Vesperia, Fallout 3 DLC, Ninja Gaiden 2, and recently, Grand Theft Auto 4 : Episodes from Liberty City (GTAIV:EfLC) were Timed Exclusives (there is more, but you get the idea), and companies weren't allowed to reveal they had, in those cases, a PS3 version in the works until a later date. The companies were working on the game well before it was unveiled to the public.

Specifically in points 4 and 6. ;)

I will reiterate :

============

============

Having explained this, please don't think I'm assuming it's indeed most definitely being ported. I don't know what's going to happen. It's simply an educated guess. The results of this matter not, to me, as I will be playing this day one for my Xbox 360 console.

In the end, who knows what will happen...You dig? :P

I hope this helps you, my Fellow poster. :P

Revolution316

what you rite is verly complicated to read lol......they said it clearly. conviction will not be on the ps3 but other splinter cell games will. thats all you need to know. no need to write a essay lol

Ah, simplify. I think I can do that.

*ahem*

----------

If indeed Conviction is a timed exclusive videogame :

Ubisoft is required to say that Conviction will not be on the PS3 at this point in time.

OR (another simple way of saying it)

If Ubi took $$$ money, Ubi paid to lie about PS3 Conviction.

----------

So, in essense, we can't trust Ubisoft words at face value on this matter, sadly.

Look back to my "essay" above to find out more if you wish. :P

Well, it's just a demo, but it certainly has a shot when the final game is released.

I will be busting through this demo a few times, for sure! I own the entire series and I beat them on the toughest settings.:P
