Well the difference is that this engine is real time and has graphical features that's being turned on and off. Don't believe that happened last gen. This is very much in line with what we'll see.

But it usually takes a while before we see it, like the alfred molina tech demo head, it was a good bit into the gen before we saw anything like that

Agnii, Ue4 demo, and Samartian are all tech demos showcasing what the developers want and hope they will be able to do on next generation consoles, not necessarily what they will actually be able to do, or what they expected to do with the information they had at the time.

It is kind of like last generation where Epic convinced microsoft to double the ram in the 360 by showing off what UE3 could do with 512mb. The entire purpose of Samartian was basically Epic saying "Look what we can do with this sort of power, you guys should make consoles that can run it"

Intel i7-3770K has about 300 GFLOPs from it's 16 IEUs (HD 4000) and it's OpenCL capable. Intel i7-3770K is also an APU.

On 4GB GDDR5 vs 8GB DDR3 issue, it depends on the workload.

Xbox Next's DDR3 would be clocked higher than Xbox 360's GDDR3.

You are pretty stupid if you think that.

The Cell would stuggle running CPU intensive PC games such as ArmA, Flight Simulator and Total War.

It's not much better than a Pentium 4 Extreme in processing capabilities.

The only things it has in it's favour are the raw FLOPS performance and graphics acceleration capabilities.

But modern PC APUs are better for graphics than Cell ever was and it still wouldn't beat a dedicated "render farm" graphics board in FLOPS. (i.e. Nvidia Tesla series)

the xbox 360 can already pull off most of those affects easyily. Not much off a leap i reckon in my opoinon. can see its leap and bounds over PS3 gfx tho so they can finaly catch up at long last.

Looks great and all, but tech demos do have a tendency of looking great, they're strictly controled, everything's pre-made and accounted for. Today, even that Nvidia Dawn fairy demo from 2003 still looks great!

In any case, I'm much more interested in seeing what new consoles will be able to pull off in realistic gaming situations.
