Ohhh amy this wont end well...
Final Fantasy Isnt a regular RPG, it stands alone as the RPG king franchise and those numbers wont be well received by lemmings, facts or not, they just wont accept them.

Off topic, what happened to your old sig? Have you ... came back?
This is going against market trends.[QUOTE="Nolan16"]i don't really understand how that could be a mistake having a multi plat as big as FF i mean 70% of north american owns a 360 over PS3.AmyMizuno
Square-Enix is:
1) Snubbing their nose in their third largest investor, Sony. If Sony wanted to harm Square Enix, they are in a position to do so by undervaluing their stock. This would be a bigger hit to Square-Enix than would be a bank failure.
2) Spending money on exclusive titles on the 360, which will not well well and will end up costing more money to make and port than they will return.
Final Fantasy 13 will sell at least a million on 360.[QUOTE="f50p90"]multiplat means more sales for them any way you spin it. If you are talking about Star Ocean 4 or Infinite Undiscovery (thats Tri Ace though). Those are destined for low salesAmyMizunoThere's one flaw in your argument. Their third largest investor Sony is not very happy right now. Eventually, Yuichi Wada will have to answer to his investors. They are his boss.
But Sony is a minority among shareholders, aren't they? Maybe they were the only ones who didnt want FF on 360.

But eventually Square might have to throw them a bone, since they are angry.. They have a huge announcement about FFVII coming up maybe its for PS3

I know what you're saying, but it's going to go over a lot of people's heads here.
All they care about are the games and rightfully so, it's all they should care about.

Uhh... No? What exactly hints that in my post? I was pointing out that the FF brand sells great by default on any platform.
In case you haven't noticed Amy, FFXIII is still on the PS3, not to mention FFXIII Versus. Remember Dragon Quest 8? That's a PS2 exclusive. So DQIX is a Sont exclusive right? Oh wait it's a DS exclusive, so it wouldn't be the first time SE snubbed Sony, but wait PS3 still gets the game, and it's exclusive in Japan. As for the game crashing and burning on the 360, that would've happened in Japan, hence MS and SE not putting it there. See they know what they are doing. And right now more people own a 360 and a PS3 in NA, so it's smart of SE to give their game to the console with the most people owning it. SE isn't snubbing Sony with FFXIII, and they aren't making a bad business move.
BTW if the 360 version sells a lot and it helps Sony, why would they complain?

Are u still mad its on the 360 ?
ff13 will sell better on ps3? it really doesnt take a genius to come to that conclusion. I'm not gonna take sides. If you want games soon, get the 360. The onnly downside is the hardware issues. If you're willing to wait and play it on a more reliable console, ur best bet is ps3. Choose whichever. ff13 is going to 360, nothing we can do about that.

If Sony had enough money to do a hostile takeover, they would've instead just outbid Microsoft and kept FF13 exclusive. But as that one Sony guy said in that interview, "we can't just write out cheques whenever we need to".
FF13 will sell more on the PS3 than it will sell on the 360. FACT. I think. heheEvolved_OneMost definately. It's still PS3 exclusive in Japan.
I could even see a hostile takeover.AmyMizuno
I can't.
That would take a lot of effort and resources on Sony's part, and would be a PR nightmare. Also, Sony has kinda shifted their focus from third-party to first-party, so I don't think something like that would fit in with what they're going for.
For a woman that brags about owning two (count'em two) Xbox 360s...this is hilarious!!!
For openers, Lost Odyssey AND Devil May Cry 4 were released in February...Gee, don't you think..I don't know CHRISTMAS two months earlier had something to do with it?!? Of course it did! A lot of kids own a 360 aren't going to have parents running out to buy a new game after spending buku cash over the holidays.
I was neck deep in paper work in grad school & I didn't have time to play a deep, 100+ hour game.
Final Fantasy on the Xbox allows EVERYONE to enjoy it. Square OWNS the PS3...as everyone that bought a PS3 has bought it so they can play FF! They've been tooting their horns about the formerly exclusive FF game for months!
Flash forward to present day. Xbox 360 owners now have the option to purchase the FF..if they want it. It doesn't mean all of us will. I for one would love to play all the JRPG games available for the 360...but with work, school, & all the other day to day stuff I have to do in my demographic, it just ain't possible.
Anyway, it's not as if Lost Odyssey is cheap to obtain now. I'd still have to pay $35-$40 for a used copy.
I think you need to learn how to stop worrying and love The 360. :P
[QUOTE="AgentA-Mi6"]900 Million dollars is how much it would cost Sony to have a hostile takeover of Square-Enix. Sony has a LOT of money too. Sony's GAMING division may not be, but Sony itself is huge.[QUOTE="AmyMizuno"][QUOTE="AgentA-Mi6"]900 Million dollars is how much it would cost Sony to have a hostile takeover of Square-Enix. Yeah, someone having actual data to back up the things they say is pretty crazy.
Should FFXIII have come to the 360? I don't know, by the sounds on the IGN interview with Square Enix it will definitely be better on the PS3.
*It's being developed for the PS3 and they are trying to figure out how to put it on Blu-Ray.* Their words not mine, please don't bash me. :(
As for the rest of the RPG's. It's clearly a HUGE mistake putting them exclusively on the 360, I think that is why I am most pissed at Square Enix. Now if they were to move SO4, Infinite Discovery ... and that other one over to the PS3 I think that would be a wise choice. However since Micromoney paid them off obviously, I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

My point, 900 Millions would cripple Sony's gaming Division in their current financial state, 1.2 Billions isnt that Much for Microsoft, They Lost around 5 of those on the original Xbox and they are still in the console market, stronger than ever, Profiting with the 360 while sony still loses money.
SE knows that Sony is not going to make them much money this gen.Bigboi500
Wrong.
Why profit from one console when you can profit from two? It's not that Sony isn't making them much money, its that Sony + MS will make them more.
Yeah, because everyone that wants the game is an 8 year old with no cash of their own to buy a video game...For a woman that brags about owning two (count'em two) Xbox 360s...this is hilarious!!!

yes because microsoft as a company has 120 billion and sony has 60 billion once you hit over that 30 billion mark when does money become an object?
