Sony didn't played it safe with HZD or with GOW, guerrilla games never did an open world RPG before and GOW was completely changed from the original formula.

The only studio "playing it safe" was naughty dog with the uncharted series, but TLOU2 is not playing it safe at all, since they put a lesbian kiss on the trailer that stirred hate on the internet.

There's no playing it safe on Sony's doing, no matter how hard you try to spin this.

Honourable mentions: dragon quest is playing it safe since forever and it always pays off.

Final Fantasy tried to change the formula and is failing since 13.

A lot of ignorance in this thread. The usual it seems from people who dont even know that Star Citizen has had playable versions for years.

The reason people keep giving this game money is because despite still being developed it is already better than most released games.
