Steam for Mac - LIVE - Bring on the Patches!

Everyone I know who uses a Mac does so to be "hip" .Not trying to say that there aren't professionals out there who use it for work related reasons. I still stick to my belief that the majority of people buying Macs do so to make a fashion statement.

Even though Steam is a big step up for gaming on Macs, there is still the hardware issue. I don't see too many Macs playing the latest and more taxing games at a reasonable price point.

Although I dislike Apple for the most part, this does benefit me because I get Portal for free (on Windows :P).

I was referring to their specific choice of computer,but I am sure you knew that already.

How about that... Patches galore! Portal performance is GREATLY improved. I can turn on V-Sync and color correction (if I wanted) now (before it turned things into a slide show). The Civ4 fix is also life. Not only can you download it- you can play it, too! :P

I even managed to turn up the texture resolution on Portal with no noticeable framerate hit (yay for silky smooth- finally!!). It's almost running as it did in Windows (for me, I can't speak for all Mac owners).

I've just been playing Portal for the first time on my 2009 Macbook Pro and its running silky smooth, awesome game.
