Steam Winter Sale Starts Today

Heil is the best. PS4 no 1. Those sales O_O

I prefer no Daily/Flash. I no longer have to worry about checking steam every day and just get on with enjoying my holiday.

Im guessing they got rid of it because they were tied of people requesting a refund when they bought the game at 33% only to be discounted at 50% days later.

It's a great game, even more so with the Brave New World dlc, best game to have on laptop while traveling!

If you're going to get it get all of the expansions. The base game is very bland without them.

Gods and Kings what a bit meh, BNW is excellent addition and fixes a lot of stuff that was lacking from the original release.

Agreed, there was this urge to come back and visit each day. To hope and see your favourite game on there.

Now you can just click on your wishlist and see what games have the discount you want; It's convenient, but boring.

Luckily you are not forced to buy your games online or even through steam.

There are many official online stores. Unlike PS, which just has PSN.

And PSN may be worthwhile in America, the sales completely suck in Europe and I haven't bought anything in years to be honest.

So no, having choice out of a dozen stores all doing competitive sales > a very limited store that only gives good deals in some parts of the world.

Trimmed a good 40 or so games off my wishlist.

Nothing that stands out too much, mainly $10-$25 games that went to $5 or less. Biggest title would be Shadow Or Mordor GOTY for $17 CAN.

At least I have the next week and a half to debate whether I want to bite on other games with smaller discounts.

Alright, I'm stopping at 13 games. I won't even allow myself to check the store after this.

I lvoe this new No Flash Sale/No daily sale system. I finally dont have to check every now and then or possibly miss out a deal of a game I really want.

Unfortunately, I am already covered with the games I want.

I am more interested in seeing what GOG does. Regrettably I missed that Goldbox engine sale back in autumn, iti is pretty much the only thing I want.

Grandia 2 at $10 looks really good.

Well my PC was 5X my PS4., so $2k, then PSN is $50 a year, so I'm ahead 30+ years and have games I've bought.

Also I forgot, you dont even need PSN+ to take advantage of these sales. So you dont have to "pay" for this sale either.

@R4gn4r0k: I think my main problem with dailies gone is that companies may put their games up for sale for less now as they're not going to want to make less profit with a really high price cut over a long period of time. Someone else pointed this out during the last one, but I agree with it slightly.

@Heil68: I never claimed you had to pay for PSN. I stated that I didn't always feel like he PS+ titles were winners, which you countered with saying steam sales have been disappointing. I just stated that we don't pay for steam sales, but we do pay for PS+.

I am aware of the holiday sale on PSN, but continuously just quoting the list after you first posted it seems unnecessary and is just cluttering things up. Rather you could just link them the PS blog post

You dont have to "pay" for these sales on PSN either as you dont have to be a PSN+ member, You can save more if you are a PSN+ member, but you still get a deal if you are not.

I do as well as Xbox Live. But if a user doesn't want to pay for PSN+, they can still take advantage of the sale. But you know that, I'm not sure what you are getting it.

I was posting the list as a mere factual statement of PSN sale, the 2nd to show you dont need PSN_ to enjoy the savings, So see, I was justified in positing link twice as users may of missed that detail, it appears TC did and had to be reminded.

I have my Cart full for when I get home... Clocked in around $190, which is about what I budgeted lol.

More or less they are essential . BNW especially adds a lot of missing content and depth to Civ V. Basically It made Civ V my all time favorite game

@lostrib: I think I only got 8. I'm at work, so I can't access my cart. A few of the games were $20, and I grabbed Tales of Zestiria which is still like $40 or so.

I don't know what I want to buy. With the new no-flash sales and no daily deals, I don't have as much initiative to buy something.

A little disappointed that Velocity 2X, Jotun and Axiom Verge didnt go on too deep of a discount.

Just a heads up, check Green Man Gaming. They have a 20% off single use discount that applies to most games on sale. Can get stuff like Rocket League and Cities: Skylines cheaper.

Well I started to buy Just Cause 3 on Steam but somehow ended up buying Star Wars Battlefront on the Origin sale. Now I have a 3rd copy of Battlefront and 0 of Just Cause 3. At least I get to play Battlefront with those sweet graphics mods now.

Got me Age of Empires 2 HD for 4 bucks not bad. Probably get some more older titles too.

You guys should check out GMG, they have a 20 percent code, and some of their stuff is even cheaper than Steams.. Got Vermintide there for much cheaper.
