The game looks great. The lightning effect when Shepherd shot a space zombie with a shotgun looked fantastic as it danced around the screen. Perhaps the most impressive looking bit was the adept's conjured barrier that provided both cover and a clean view of the field ahead. The texture work and visual flair that was added do a great service towards drawing the player into the immediate world, though the environmental detail and nice futuristic design lead the way. When we see a fully polished game later this year, everybody is in for a treat

After reading both articles from 1up and IGN, I think people are jumping to too many conclusions. IGN didn't even mention any slowdown, and 1up stated that what they saw could be fixed, I wouldn't be too worried.

It will still get multiple layers of polish and optimization before you fans get your hands on it. Wasnt the article by 1up? Also, game journalists know crap about game development. With 2-3 months to go, there is too little time to fix the framerate. You have to take in consideration, that the last month and a half is just bug testing, printing disks, and shipping to retailers. Therefore, there is only one more month to optimize the code. I am a programmer, and I really feel bad for the Bioware guys right now. They will have a month working from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. And even then, to optimize the code may not be even possible. So they either downgrade the visual, which I doubt, or leave the framerate with problems. Remeber the Oblivion team? How they said they were gonna fix the framerate? Well, goes to show you that it is not always possible to do it.
Don't worry, Sony fanboys, you're laughing at the 360 and its owners due to the the "framerate issues" Mass Effect has now, but I'm sure someone with a 360 will be more than happy to let you play the final game for yourself when it comes out. That is, unless you're still too busy trying to figure out how to make Motorstorm work in splitscreen, or perhaps wondering where the "4-D graphics" switch is on your PS3...:wink:
I see no downgrade... as well you need too read the article better they say early build...as well as slight shuttering. thats expected in an early before beta build of a game as well spight shuttering does not=bad frame rate your blowing whats in that article way out of perortion. and game journalist know dip about game development? wow....you just lost all respect in my eyes and your opinion no longer carries any weight.

could be for consoles, but if the framerate is super low, it's of no use to make the visuals beautifull... framerate is really important to me. But there is ni denying the game looks good. let's not fall in to damage control allready shall we.
Why do people want this game just because of the graphics? Bioware don't normally release games with ground breaking graphics, they just make games with brilliant gameplay. And also, I'm sure Chris Priestly on the Bioware forums said the frame rate will be tweaked closer to the end of development

It's in there. It's called optimization. That is where they're at now in development so just going into. Guess what? It probably has about 500 bugs too at this point. They'll fix it. Kotor ran perfectly(atleast the first did but they didn't work on the second).

People are not hyping this game just because of its graphics. We may have different opinions on this, but I always have been overwhelmed by the game in the graphics department and like flamingschmoes2 said they promised quite alot of stuff with this title, so......... Why not deliver the goods on all fronts? It would certainly not bother me.
