Super Mario Galaxy. Platformer GOTY and candidate for GOTY! You heard me. :)

No not really but their will be at least 15-20 maybe more they will have to consider for goty, It wont win goty period it will be lucky to get nominated although they will have a good chance to win the platform catagory along with Banjo and Ratchet and Clank, They proabaly win it if it meets the quality the game its spose to be.

Theirs alot of awsome games coming out in 07 and its probaly the best ever gaming year in history.

Plus, Banjo  just scored higher than Mario here...On Gamerankings(which is a cumulative of reviews from many many sites) Mario is among the top ten greatest games ever along with OoT, Goldeneye, Metroid prime, Halo, Soul Calibur e.t.c e.t.c Banjo is no where to be found...

SM64 paved the way for 3D platforming...When it came out there was nothing like it before.....Thats why its revolutionary and why its top ten on gamerankings..

Though alota 3D platformrers have flooded the scene since SM64, Super Mario Galaxy is doing something no game has done- Twisting the dimension.

They ruled back in the SNES and N64 era. But now, Rare needs to die.

My faith in nintendo is renewed. That trailer has just shown me why SMG smashes every single game thats coming out for either the 360 or the ps3 to oblivion. I don't care what any1 says, graphically it looks amazing, and that blue horizon just looks beautiful.. The gameplay is ingenious, and takes platforming to a level that banjo or ratchet will never reach.

 Lemmings can cry mass effect all they want, If gamespot aren't blind, then they'll give this amazing piece of innovation the GOTY.

I say Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is the game to watch out for.

Lemmings, and especially you savage whatever your name is, you do understand that GOTY's are given to games that bring something new and refreshing to the industry? Games that blow the editors away? Games that bring new and innovative gameplay?  You list 50 games, half of which will be average or just plain crap, and then you say SMG wont even stand a chance?

GOTY's are not given to the the best graphically looking games. If you can't understand that then theres no point in arguing. Graphically SMg looks beautiful. Graphics whores will always complain i guess.

*EDIT: Give me 3 good solid reasons of why Banjo or ratchet and clank will be better platformers. one of your reasons will most certainly be the graphics, but then you'll get stuck and feel silly.

First you got Mass Effect, Bio Shock, Halo3, Gta4, The Darkness, Assassins Creed, Ut3, Stranglehold, Re5, Blue Dragon, Lost Oddessy, Kayne and Lynch, Army of Two, Haze, Half Life 2 with ep 2, Fable 2, Eternal Sonata, Brothers in arms, Banjoo Kazooie 3, Battlefield Bc, Forza 2, Pgr4 etc

Dmc4, Heavenly Sword, White knight story, Killzone 2, Hellgate London

Crysis, Quake Wars, Stalker, Spore .

And besides the other games that the Wii has to offer and i belive handhands are not exluded as well.

But ill take the games from above and round them out to the top 10

Mass Effect, Bio Shock, Halo 3, Gta4, Assassins Credd, The Darkeness, Heavenly Sword, Hell Gate London, Ut3, Crysis, Spore, And theirs a whole lot of games that i missed and could easy fit in either catagory, Mario isnt a for shure AAA game, It probaly will but in reality it will be drowned up by all the other AAA titles which appear tobe a fewlevels over Geow.
