Alaska may be the most beautiful state in the US, and one of the most beautiful places in the entire world.
Sure it's cold, but once you adapt it's amazing there.
I guess it just depends if you like being outside.
The drive up was incredible. Just beautiful scenery all over. But once I got into town, no mountains, just foothills. Forest fires are rampant, smoggy skies, coal burning makes the place stink come fall/winter. Fairbanks does have some of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen though. It's like the beauty just stops once you get into town. It goes from gorgeous to gross really quick. In the winter especially.
Although saying Fairbanks was kind of ugly still makes it look probably 50x better than anywhere else in the US.
