Amazing how many people bash Nintendo but when asked who's the best company, all you see is Nintendo lol
1. SNK
2. Nintendo
3. From Software
4. Atlus
they have a great track record. but what you did in the past only counts for the past, it doesnt make a console appeal more specially to people who dont know about nintendo in the nes/snes days.
1. Nintendo
2. Squaresoft (yes, "soft", not Enix)
3. Black Isle Studios
Sorry, this will be counted as Square Enix, since that's essentially what the company exists as today (call it a rebranding if you must). Allowing people to vote for Squaresoft and Square Enix separately would be like letting people vote for DMA Design and Rockstar North separately, and to keep it at least somewhat under control, I will be consolidating all Square votes into Square Enix. Same with all Enix votes.
No problem man. Just pointing my preference to their older games over the newer ones in general.
Atlus is pretty wonderful. They always put their fans first and create unique games. I love them for it.
Mainly voting Konami for Kojima Productions. Not that they don't have a hell of a roster (Castlevania, Contra, etc.), but most of that is in the past. Should I vote Koji Pro separately, or will it all be included under Konami anyways? Really don't have time to read the OP right now.

Technically you can vote for Kojima separately, and it will be counted as that in the tallies, if you think that Kojims deserves credit but Konami doesn't. But you can't vote for both Kojima and Konami- that is, you can't vote for both the publisher and the developer.
On the whole, I say that unless you have some extreme problems with the publisher, or think that the developer in question deserves some special recognition, just go ahead and vote for the publisher.
Nintendo
Insomniac Games (have an undying love for the first three Spyro the Dragon)
BioWare or Bethesda
I'm terrible at making lists like these, but I'd say these four are my favorites.
It's amazing how much love people still have for Nintendo... how is it that they can't tap into that love more and sell more consoles?!?!

Well, love only gets you so far, the console has to be desirable. Generally speaking, Nintendo machines have been desirable enough to sell a decent amount every generation, but the Wii U is a fundamentally unappealing proposition.

Yeah I see your point. Must be frustrating as a Nintendo fan to see this happen... Especially with such a huge & generally loyal fan base.
@Telekill: Well, as I said earlier in this thread, just because a company is loved doesn't mean everything that it does will be accepted. The Wii U is a fundamentally unappealing product, and so it has been rejected, in spite of its association to so beloved a company. On the other hand, consider something like the 3DS, which is a much more desirable product, and has been fully accepted.
1) Nintendo
2) Black Isle
3) Sega
You should do a poll about developers (as in persons) just like this one. I'd do it, but I refuse to do all that math. :p

Maybe eventually :P I already have next one's in mind, and it won't be that one, because there'd be too much of an overlap.
These kinds of polls are useless. You know why? Nintendo wins because it's like an ambiguous name, Nintendo is all of Nintendo's first party, it's all of it's hardware development, it's all of it's marketing... Where as other major competitors have third party stuff going on, and that means that lemmings will pick Bungie over "Microsoft" or Cows will say Naughty Dog over "Sony". It's awfully predictable.
The real winners here are the third party teams that manage to compete with a big amalgamation of diverse functions like Nintendo.

Nintendo doesn't really have fixed teams. They have named groups but people cycle throughout these departments or collaborate with each other on a game to game basis, so yes, its okay to name Nintendo as one big team in this case. Thats how they work.

I know that's how they work. Which means that this poll business will always be fixed with Nintendo. Not that I care really, but the result is pretty predictable!
Tallies updated:
- Atlus : Not just as developer also as publisher; probably the less impressive of the three, but definitely the one that have been more constantly good with their games; also good localizations with awesome voice acting and short times between their release dates.
- Square-Enix : Should be Squaresoft, but since it technically is the same; my second vote goes to them.
- Nintendo : Same as with Square-Enix, I don't like what they've been doing these last years; mostly; but I can't deny the great times I have had with their games.
Honorable mention to Lucas Arts which isn't with us anymore.
I find it humorous that so many people have voted for Nintendo but they don't buy their shit. Gamers are the epitome of hypocrites.
I think most of the users on this forum do buy Nintendo games and consoles. The problem Nintendo has right now is that they have absolutely no appeal from the casual crowd. Parents are buying their kids smart phones and tablets, and Nintendo doesn't sell to the COD/Madden crowd. They don't even have those games on their system anymore. Nintendo only appeals to the hardcore gamer right now, and that is kind of a niche audience.
