Welcome dear SystemWars folks to the (very late) October 2010 edition of SystemWars Monthly. This issue is special to us at the SWM 2.0 Union since it marks our 3-year-anniversary and to follow that occation up, I've taken the pleasure in taking a once lost issue of SWM and bringing it up to modern standards. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed pouring blood, sweat, tears, and a multitude of more stress than I desired. Believe it, weeks went into this. Very long weeks that is. Not much Fallout: New Vegas time. That's bad. Super bad. Then again, that blame can all be placed on me since I am a stubborn lonewolf ranger who would nitpick everything is someone else got their hands on it. But a las, next month we'll be on time. You can trust me. Seriously. I'm with the Govern- ... well, you can trust SystemWars Monthly. Yeah!

Without further a do, let's get things rolling. First things first, in order to celebrate the third anniversary, some of the SystemWars Monthly folks decided to have a soundoff and give their thoughts on SWM. Let's listen in...

Here is the PDF for the October 2010 Issue of SystemWars Monthly 2.0. As you might have noticed, SWM is no longer going to put pictures in the thread anymore unless requrested to do so by the SystemWars Community. I don't know about you guys, but I was sick of having to click on the page -- wait for all the pictures to load -- only to read and find out not have all the pictures load! What's up with that? And in the PDF, the text isn't clear. Again, not cool. So enter Adobe InDesign CS5, and enter some magic, and out comes SUPEPIC (Super + Epic) magazine. Crystal clear text, and prettiness.

Enjoy!

PDF Downloadcourtesy of TheMindofGame.com (The_Game21x's Site). So go steal his bandwidth!

Scribd.

And when you're done with that. How about a blast from the past? I'm talking about SystemWars Monthly from 2008. I'm talking January of 2008. That's nearly three years ago, so how did it look back then? I would show you, but that issue was DELETED because of a fault on Willy adding a magazine scan in the mix. WHOOPS! Fear no more, if you weren't there back in 2007 like some of us out here, then fret no more because I have the fix you crave. SystemWars Monthly 2.0 has revamped the old edition and digitally remastered it. Now, it's epic level is OVER 9000!!!!!

Enjoy, yet again.

Scribd.

PDF Downloadcourtesy of TheMindofGame.com (The_Game21x's Site). Seriously, eat his bandwidth up.

We are, yes. But this issue focuses on October. Remember that this mag is supposed to come out at the beginning of the month. Think of us like.... NPD reports! lol! :P

Great work all around, gentlemen. I congratulate each of you.

For the record though, I'm ashamed of my article from the revived issue, and I apologise retrospectively for having written it, especially the bit at the end about Ebert's job, which is was an ass-hatted thing to even think, much less write, and I did both, apparently.

Well, it was almost three years ago, so don't worry about it. And besides, you made some very good points.

Just flicked through and it looks like an awesome issue.

Congrats to all the guys that have worked on SWM (past, present and banned). I still remember the first issue so well and never would have thought 3 years down the line it would have continued to grow. Good stuff, im going to read it now.

Nice job, yo. Didn't like the "Games can't be art" article, though. How can you assume that nobody will walk away with a lasting emotional impression from a video game? Isn't that dependent on the individual? I've walked away from countless movies and books and paintings I forgot about, are their entire mediums also not art?

Sarah Carter single handedly saved the DoA movie. How dare you not give that amazing woman props

Happy 3 year anniversary by the way :D

Master_ShakeXXX

While Sarah Carter is definitely a gorgeous actress and could look the part for Helena, the characterization was way way off. Helena is supposed to be a French aristocrat. She was raised to be an opera singer and basically has a persona befitting of cIassical music and culture. And in no way was that background represented in the movie. But that's probably not her fault as she was working from the script and direction she was given without knowing the source material as a gamer would.

Like I said before, I AM a huge fan of the DOA series, I adore Kasumi, Christie, Lisa, and all the rest. And it's as a fan that there is no way in hell you can tell me this movie was in any way shape or form a proper adaptation of the games. Nor can you or I allow our love of an actress in the movie, just as I'm a fan of Jaime Pressly, get in the way of your objectivity. This sort of poor translation should never be defended, or we never will see good movies from our cherished pastime.

Well in all fairness I'm not a fan of the series. I have never actually played them, so that's probably why I'm not bothered by the film. I can see where you're coming from though :D

Seriously though, I'm so head over heels in love with that girl that she could make a 10 second appearance in a movie about some guy takin a dump and I would probably call it a good movie
