System Wars is evolving. We want to make System Wars a much more interactive destination. Wedo not believethe current board name lives up to what it should.

Explained in last week's Ask the Mod sticky thread, each forum is receiving their own rules and guidelines. If you noticed that many trolling and troll-flame posts are not getting removed from System Wars discussions, that's because it's not something we will moderate in this forum. If you notice content getting removed in other forums, it's because it's a rule in that forum. If we see a PS3 troll posting in the Xbox 360 forum, they will get moderated.

We are no longer automatically issuing suspensions if a user has many quotes. However, if you intentionally break a thread's page because you have too many quotes, expect that we think you did this deliberately. We will moderate this if we believe you are doing this on purpose. Keep your posts tidy.

We have a System Wars Survival Guide we'll post below.

I can no longer report people for calling me a troll?
Sure you can, but expect it to be cleared from the moderation queue. After a month or so, we might start marking people for reporting abusively. Keep that in mind.

Some guy called me a dumbass, and said I was butthurt for sharing my opinion. Now what?
You can tell him why you aren't a dumbass, butthurt, and give him facts. We aren't going to intervene.

But someone called me a fanboy and they cant do that.
They can now. Doesn't matter if you are. Be proud or ignore what someone else on the internet thinksabout you.

But someone told me to get the hell out of here.
Tell him why you should stay. Ignore him, You can tell him that he'll never find heaven. We don't care about flaming that doesn't fall under offensive or hate-speech.

Some guy said he reported me.
If he did, it'll get ignored by staff and mods as long as you don't have offensive material, racial slurs, sexually explicit content, illegal activities, illegal advertisements, pornography and hate-speech/threats,

What do you mean by hate speech?
They need to be something we'd contact local law enforcement about. We can't give you every single example, but here: "I hope you get cancer"; "JUMP OFF A CLIFF" "take 50 sleeping pills and die"; "watch your back, you are a dead man". We have been known to contact local law enforcement if we believe your threat is worthy of an investigation. DONT DO IT.

I know right? A forum about the wars between gaming machines where you're NOT allowed to call someone out? GTFO! But of course you could implicitly state that (or hell explicitly) if you have mod buddies that hand you that dandy shield.:P

Insults should always be off the table. Once you allow some, you're beginning to create a grey area (one man's idiot is another man's ) that's going to create more grief than anyone wants...or needs. Not least when a thread gets derailed as two or three posters go at each other with "acceptable" insults that just get in the way of what is being said.

While a forum like this does need to be lively, and is necessarily opinionated, you want to aspire to keeping everyone battling it out with facts and civil opinions...and good humour.

Do you need a thick skin in here? Yes. Should you be faced with being called a dumbass because you're a PC/Xbox/PS3/Wii gamer/BF3/MW3 player? No.

I'd ask that you reconsider that rule.
