@davillain-: No no no, that's the beauty of it. It wins, without needing to be released... Somehow. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Playing Alan wake remaster its so and so much better than any of Resident evil. feel like its underrated classic masterpiece.
none of RE games had that kind of atmosphere plus story telling Alan wake had.

i quit several hours in. too repetitive. does it ever evolve into more than running through a dark misty forest flashing your torch at shadowy men?

Not really, but I can't remember it super well. Played it seven years ago and never felt like revisiting it. I prefer several Resident Evil games over it. Which reminds me, I should probably rewatch Twin Peaks soon. Watched it once about a decade ago. Never seems to go for a good price anymore.

Pretty much my take as well. That coupled with flashing checkpoints every 2 minutes, it just becomes bite-sized segments with absolutely 0 tension.
A problem Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider games have that killed a big appeal of the original games. Those have optional manual save on PC and save-crystals you had to find and activate.
OG Tomb Raider games could die at a moment's notice, even slow it's a very slow paced game with rudimentary visuals, still very tense at times. Once get to Legends it's "whatever".
Part of the obv deeper challenge and replay value with classic Resident Evil games is becoming more proficient and requiring less ink-ribbons. Designed for replay. Turning 4-5 hours in 1-2.
Even the ones that drop that like RE5, the experience is just more fun. Shooting, variation, goofy etc...
Much rather look at Shiva in her absolutely not racist tribal costume than some tweed coated soy monotonously telling me about his feelings of thing happening every 30 seconds. Gotta be one of the most boring characters played in a game. Aiming for Le_mature realism because fun is for babies.
-
Not really just him either, enemies and environments are so boring.
Think about something like Resident Evil 2. Go from wrecked city, to police station with many secret areas, mini-museum, a giant underground lab etc.. It's a shorter tighter game but incomparably more varied.
They toss realism out the window in favour of fun. Same with pretty much all Resident Evil games, 8 basically says "**** it" and does Hammer Horror. With a 9 foot milf vampire and wolf men.
Fun. Yay.

OMG it has Checkpoints!!! its worst game ever. not
It has far better gameplay than any of RE game. the shooting is very satisfying unlike RE. plus the atmosphere is incredible and unmatched in any of third person horror game. combine with max payne style story telling which any of RE games lacked.
Alan wake is if Max payne become horror game. that is Alan wake.
Its underrated cult classic that desearve more praise.
Uh. Right now I feel like going up to game development studios and nailing a sign on their doors saying: "dear game developers; old school FPSs rarely give enemies hitscan weapons for a reason, and when they do, most are smart enough to give the player some kind of a fair chance to avoid getting shot. Don't ever forget that."
Just finished Strike Suit Zero. Solid enough game to whet my appetite for Chorus next month, but bloody Hell, the 3rd quarter missions almost ruined it for me, with ships that had hitscan beam turrets that can hit me from 3,000 metres out and never misses. Luckily they seemed to have realised their mistake and cut that shit out for the final quarter of the game, so my final impression ended up pretty positive. But I almost threw my mouse at the monitor.
This just in: ghost hates health and shield regen, but loves checkpoint respawn
He always hated that. Nothing new here.
Edit: I for one never understood the hate for regeneration health/shields at all? Whichever game works with regen health or not at all, I just play whatever game works. Ghost complains over the little things that no one cares.

come to the conclusion that to you incredible atmosphere === stick you somewhere dark, with a torch and have enemies jump out at you from the shadows. those three things are all you need. anything else is largely immaterial. doom 3, metro, alan wake, probably more... all torch and shadow games.
always amusing to see you blissfully unaware of the irony of ridiculing games like tlou 2 as movie games and walk in straight line games, and proclaiming games like alan wake and max payne 3 to be masterpieces

Never bloody ends. Had to retain a solicitor as the executor of my grandad's estate was progressing so slowly, and there's literally been no probate filed and he passed in January from Covid. Now I have to pay £300 to another solicitor to engage with the first solicitor to see what the shit is going on... Brutal.
I cant do this in last of us. can I?
I think this is my last Max Payne video ever. Unless I decide to make a collection of my best stuff in the future. But I'm through recording new content. Uses up too much of my time and it seems the YouTube algorithm doesn't give me the views I once had. Uninstalled it almost three months ago.

So you are ezikel? could have figure out before lol.
It’s crazy how there are people so media illiterate that they actually think the villain was the hero they should relate to, and then get a job writing about movies/shows and then assume everyone also thought the bad guy was the protagonist.
@Willy105:
Stuff like this always reminds me of scene in Star Trek Deep Space 9. In the later seasons to introduce Vic Fontaine, who's basically like a never-shut-down hologram who lives in a recreation of 1960's Las Vegas.
The crew all get on board to save him but Sisko is like "**** that I don't care".
The reason he explains why he never uses it or cares is because it's an idealized version of reality that never existed, all the edge ebbed away to make things how they think they should be presented.
Sisko was a well known white supremacist, very problematic.
Dang, watching that is another good reminder me how good Star Trek use to be.
That little 1:40 scene got more going on it in than 3 seasons of Discovery trash.
How this shit got to 3+ seasons is beyond me, guess standards are that low now.
well, I have Invested in metaverse projects even though they are shit games. but still they can give a good profit. and thats what matters.
@uninspiredcup: I'd never click on a video with that thumbnail, but I would like to see Discovery, Picard, and Prodigy one day. However, they continue to use Star Trek as an excuse to sell a failed new channel or streaming service, just like they used Voyager and Enterprise to sell UPN.
i never really noticed first time round just how much of jedi fallen order is fighting slugs, worms, goats, rats, spiders and other dull non "human" enemies.
it's definitely not as good as i remember
only fighting against stormtroopers is fun. rest not.
not a fan of shadow tactics. liked desperados 3.
Curious. They play almost the exact same. Desp 3 being slightly more refined.
Aikos Choice will most likely be iterative of their learning experience. Think could easily be one of the best games of the year, at least for me, even if it's a stand-alone expansion.
Probably not going to get much marketing or sales, unfortunately.

true story
Just watched Extraction. Poor mans John wick.
Netflix movies suck i know but I heard praises and got disappointed.
Resident Evil Retribution > Welcome to Racoon City
how about both suck.
no idea why hollywood cant make a decent movie based on games.
Prince of persia and MK 1995 were only decent one.
I've never watched a Resident Evil movie. Remember pieces of the live actions on TV many years ago when I still watched TV. The stories and characters just never seemed good enough to me for an adaptation. Actually, I might have watched most of Resident Evil 1 on TV, but that was years before I played the original game it was based on.
Looks bad.

!
Video games themselves largely badly ape movies. . Even shit you praise like Max Payne and Alan Wake. Go watch In The Mouth Of Madness and Twin Peaks. Low rent version. Cwap my freind.
Resident Evil Retribution is kinda to true to later RE games. It's a trashy B-movie that has no interest in logic but rather just creating set-pieces and visuals.
Like John Wick but has tits and latex to distract you from how vacuous it is.
Kinda love it. Watching woman cosplaying as Ada Wong and Jill Valentine and pewpewdie as Leon, the way he was always meant to be portrayed.
Welcome to Racoon City is weirdly boring. It's like you're just watching someone try to mimic the first two games, but worse.

For reasons can't remember have them all on Blueray.
Only one worth watching is Retribution imo. It's trash, but entertaining trash.
Others are boring or just, incomprehensible.
Also love that intro, probably just wholesale stole it from something. But whatever. It kewl. Jill looks like Jill. I clap.

sometimes games based on movies work ala Riddick. Riddick movies are never good but the game was masterpiece.
movies based on games never work.
Max payne offer better script and lot of movies. making a bad movie is just an excuse. theres 2 Hitman movies and both suck. why? because they both are Action movies instead of following game and made it assassination movie. its not that hard.
Max payne movie can be incredibly great. they could have made it john woo Hardboiled like movie with with max story. but they decide not to because reasons.
hollywood tend to make bad movies based on games for the sake of being bad.
SFII: TAM dope.
Castlevania also pretty good as a TV show, but dialogue abit try hard. Everyone F bombing like an edgy kid smoking cigs in front of an adult.

I don't think I've seen one either. I just watched this and holy shit probably the worst action scene in film history and I'm not kidding.
