last night i watched the movie 'source code'. it was very good. a few fresh ideas in there but i don't want to say too much. the way the film unfolds is very good. i would highly recommend this film.

some good science fiction type elements in a story grounded within reality.

I hated that movie. It's like one of my top five most shitty movies ever.

you hated it. you thought it was shitty. i read your message loud and clear, and I understand!

what can i do about that? well, nothing. i can't even think of a discussion point, well, not beyond this discussion point of 'what is there to say in response to your post?'

i know what i will do. i will probe you for more information.

what didn't you like about the film?

I still have not played Planetscape, so I can't comment on that- yet. I'm hoping to go through some classic RPGs this summer, so maybe later this year.

Just remember my advice and you'll be fine. Out of all my experience, i've come to the, albeit generalized, conclusion that there are two types of people that can't enjoy the game.

1. People that don't like reading and the lack of good combat. The combat is simplistic and it wouldn't a problem if it weren't for how poorly it is implemented to manage skills and items via a shitty circle. But like i said, combat can be avoided 9/10, which is good. Overall complaints are understandable, the game is definitely not for everyone, especially people that don't like a slower pace and reading.

But in this case, you love 999, which presumably is very similar to a visual novel. You will love PS:T. And the controls (except combat) are flawlessly simple and well designed - you literally just point and click.

2. People that hate the shitty UI and resolution. I have fallen in that category before. Playing the vanilla game in a 640*480 resolution isn't a good experiene. Not only is it ugly as shit but it clutters the user interface to a indecipherable mess. Fortunately, there is a UI fix and a HD fix both in the tutorial i linked. With these fixes, i have not only enjoyed the game (in HD it's absolutely beautiful), but it has easily become one of my favorite games ever.

First played in 2009, replayed it in 2013. Going for a 3rd replay, maybe in a couple of months wen i'll feel that it has sit long enough.

Yeah, that sounds like my kind of a game

Honestly not too worried about the UI or graphics. I mean, I'm a Nintendo fan, those things come way down my list yo :P

This game's on GoG, right?

I wish Capcom would release Outbreak games HD or Viewtiful Joe.

Hell, yeah....when I said other games I would have mentioned like Onimusha HD collection those came to mind, and I agree. Onimusha HD collection, Viewtiful Joe, Maximo, Castlevania, Ace Combat, Soul Reaver, Dragon Quest, Mark of Kri series, Grand Theft Auto, and many more. Outbreak could be cool too, especially if they inserted the main part, the online play, which most of the HD collections remove.

You play ICO first (pronounced EEko btw, for RL convos).

SOTC came second and it's a better game, so going backwards by playing SotC 1st wouldn't be to your best gaming interest. You could lose interest in ICO doing that. Also, chronologically, it makes sense to play ICO first because it came out first. Both games are connected to the same mythos believe it or not, so if you like the universe, it's nice to have completed both games and playing SotC you may decide to never finish ICO after starting it and finding it not as exciting. They are not in the same genre, one is more puzzle platformer and the other being more a more action platformer/Boss Rush Mode on steroids. Both are revered games, but SotC is considered the better game and rightfully so. Playing SotC first is sort of like eating pie with ice cream first and then finishing your meal with broccoli last.

I enjoyed both games, but I'm certain I would have a different opinion if I played them out of order by playing SotC first. Then again, playing them over a decade later, maybe you won't enjoy them as I did back in 2001's ICO and 2005's SotC, who knows.

I recently went through those games with my lady last year or the year before, and enjoyed the HD experience, but part of that was because it was hang out time for both of us. She enjoyed herself, but I did wonder back then how she would have felt back when these games were technical wonders, as they are dated by today's gaming graphics standards.

I don't know if the HD collection will live up to the HYPE generated over the years by the cult following, but best of luck to you. When I bought them, there was literally no HYPE, I was one of those gamers trying to expose those niche gems back then. In my experience, HYPE can have disastrous effects on my movie going/game playing/book reading experiences, so I try to get to these forms of media to prevent that effect, but not everyone is wired like that. Too many times I've seen threads like, "XYZ was TERRIBLE, why is it SOOOO Overrated." I usually think those complaining should have tried whatever game/book/movie/tv show was before it was overrated, they may have enjoyed it instead of instantly critiquing it.

It's funny, I remember posting here in System Wars about Shadow of the Colossus prior to it's release in 2005, and trying to explain why people should give it a shot. When I would bring up, from the creators of ICO, they didn't know what that was either. Those were the days. I doubt I sold a single copy, lol. I miss talking about and exposing neat new IPs / niche games like Phantom Dust, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Maximo, Eternal Darkness, Zone of the Enders 2nd Runner, Pac-Man Vs., Viewtiful Joe, etc. It's comical because here I am talking about ICO and SotC now in 2014 on the same forum and website, it blows my mind. I never fathomed I would be chatting about those very same games with my same opinion all these years later. I'm grateful that ICO/SotC were given an HD collection for modern gamers, there is not enough of those HD collections for some forgotten games. A lot of games got skipped for the HD roll call, like Onimusha series for instance.

I actually bought both ICO and SotC on their PS2 launch days having had reserved each one, so I recall having had to wait years for SotC. It's nice to be able to have both games side by side for first timers.

That's a lot more than I wanted to type, but I'm just making some conversation. My recommendation is play ICO first, besides making conversation I wanted to give you background on where I'm coming from. My gaming roots. It's possible this background would be the exact reason why you may never touch either game after reading, which is also fine. As long as it helps in some way, lol.

I didn't know that both games were connected that way. I'll definitely play ICO first, because I do have times when that happens, I'll go back to the game before and completely dislike it. Nice way to put that. :P The reason why I wanted to play SoTC was because I heard more good things about it, than ICO. I think a lot of people here played SoTC first because ICO was super rare. Some games we don't get many copies of here. Somes I have to go out of state just to get a game.

I'm sure you'd have a different opinion on both games if you had done that. If the main two things I look for are good, I''ll probably really enjoy them. I go for story and gameplay, graphics afterwards.

I'm sure she would have felt different back then and maybe liked the experience better, as she would have experienced it when it first came out. I thought those games looked pretty good on the ps2, judging from what I've seen. I still find some games on that console impressive. I still play my ps2 believe it or not.

It's hard trying to get people into game/s with no hype. I've tried and I have friends that try as well. And yes hype can have that effect. We need more people like you on the forums, too many are missing out on good games because of that. I think the same. Though people that do that (say the games are terrible or overrated) actually spark my interest oddly. I get curious as to why XYZ was terrible or overrated and sometimes I check it out for myself. I do think people expect too much these days from games.

Lawl, hey you never know, you could have sold one. :P I know of all of those games you just listed. But sadly haven't played them, and I call myself gamer? lulz. Maybe I could pick some of them up and get you back into talking about them. Things surprise you, I bet I'll end up getting you to talk about more things you didn't think you'd talk about years later. I'd like to see more HD collections and yes please, give me some Onimusha. Oh man, I miss those games. We could use a new one.

Wish I had bought them then. The only game I could find back then was SoTC, and I didn't know that it had anything to do ICO. Shows how much I knew back then. I'll definitely check out ICO first. Your background wouldn't be that reason lol, it's actually interesting. So many people have different ones. If I didn't touch either game, it would be because I got distracted by another game, and that happens quite often. Though I don't forget about games. Speaking of not forgetting. I recently re-purchased Lost Odyssey. I hadn't touched it since 2007 I believe, and I remembered where I was and what disc I was on, almost immediately.

You heard more good things about SotC because in my humble opinion, it's the better game...but it took ICO to get there. :)

It's nice to pop out the old gal PS2 out and give her a what for...haha. I like to check out overhyped games too, but I do find some niche games I want to love, I end up hating like when BulletWitch first released. It was a 360 game I reserved, and hoping to be a bad ass action game, and boy did I hate that game with a passion. I beat it twice though, lol.

Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey I still own in my collections, although truth be told I liked LO better. I should replay that soon, perhaps 2015? Haha.

Why the hell isn't Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault available on any DD services? I got an itch to play some WWII shooters set in the Pacific Theater but my discs are too fucked up. I know for a fact it used to be on Steam but it's gone now and it isn't on Origin either which is odd.

Fucking lame.

so, last night i watched the movie 'a beautiful mind', starring russell 'phone chucker' crowe, and jennifer connely (among others). i thought it was very good. the film is an adaptation of the real life story of mathematician professor John Nash. crowe's acting was very believable, which made Nash's character tangible.

it was one of those films that isn't a comedy, but has sparse use of excellent humor. but ironically, it is quite a serious film which demands the full attention of the viewer.

if you've seen the film before, my favorite part was when

After the car 'incident', Nash is seen starting through a window. He notices two black, ominous looking cars pull up. A dark figure emerges from one of the cars ... and then some children, with a cheerful woman yelling at the kids to be careful. Nash backs away from the window in relief and the camera pans around.

Yip. He's behaving like this while teaching a class, LOL!

lol I thought the game (Pokémon Y) was a lot of fun. Spent over 100 hours with it till I put it down for a while to focus on other games. Reading that review made me want to pick it up again though. :P

My biggest complaint is the lack of post-game content though. I wish there was more to do. But with the Battle Maison, completing the Pokédex, breeding, competitive play, and other stuff in the game there's plenty to do. I still have so much to do with the game and, like I said, I easily put 100 hours in.

Clusters are annoying... They spawn 3 times a day (3 times every hour and 3/4ish) and have around a 45% rate at lvl 46... They sell for a sizable chunk, especially if you farm crystals in the meantime.

On Gilgamesh, you're looking at around 430 a cluster, so you can quickly make 30,000 every couple of runs.

So can the Ps4, x1, or wii U even take advantage of 120hz TVs? I need a new one and I'm thinking from the research that 120hz is pointless unless you have a PC hooked up to your TV.

for you sir i would recommend a 60 Hz TV.

if you wanted to pc game at over 60 fps, then a 120hz or 144hz monitor should do the trick. i am pretty sure that '120hz tvs' aren't true 120Hz.

one of my friends with an xbone got a basic 1080P 60Hz led lcd tv and he thinks its fantastic. he also plays pc games on this TV.

hope this helps. i'd probably spend as little as possible.

Beat Arkham Origins today. The game had a few problems but it was a ton of fun. Really looking forward to what Rocksteady has been working on while WB Montreal worked on this game.

Also, I know reviews weren't too savory for Blackgate, but would anyone recommend? I'll probably play it but wait till it gets a lot cheaper.

I'm thinking about potentially starting it soon, I can leave impressions then. I'm generally quite a fan of Metroidvanias, yet wasn't overly enamored by Guacamelee as the industry seemed to be. I hope this isn't (too much) worse.

Blurgh, this was on Hulu for a while and the only recent I hesitated was because it wasn't dubbed. I was hoping that it being on Netflix would have meant it finally was. Not so.

Cool. I enjoy Metroidvania as well and I can get behind most things Batman so I'm definitely interested. I'm assuming you picked up the Vita version? That's what I'd be getting as well.

I got kind of addicted lol. I find the War/Magic classes more boring to level (damn FATE grinding). You're way ahead though, lulz. The quest for getting your relic seems pretty tough.

Crafting is a lot of fun, and typically I try to use leves to level my land professions... Though I hit 46, and I can't unlock those leves yet.

Good, now you can play the GOAT library.

Also get Fire Emblem Awakening, Super Mario 3D Land, Kid Icarus Uprising, Pokemon X/Y, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Resident Evil Revelations, and Ghost Recon Shadow Wars.

So I just borrowed a 3DS indefinitely (no I didn't steal it) and a copy of Link Between Worlds. FINALLY.

Nice... I'm still waiting on that. My bro's GF got me SMTIV for Christmas, but I already had it.

That's what they're doing, as they have the copy and receipt. They're just getting an apartment together, so I haven't bothered them with it.

Just gotta say that for anyone looking to purchase Arrow on bluray, it's on sale on Amazon for $23 at the moment. Ordered mine a couple days ago and it just came in.

Second season has been awesome; it's easily one of my favorite shows on television at the moment.

I really liked the 1st season but tried watching the 2nd and he'd become dudley do-right and stopped. Will prob watch when it comes to netflix.

Arrow (much like smallville) is a bad show. Hopefully the Jim Gordon Batman spinoff will turn out better. Hopes aren't high though.

I get why the character made the change and yet I don't. Aside from that though the second season has been just as quality as the first season if not better.

The second season has been amazing so far. I absolutely love how well they are integrating with the justice league universe.

I havent spent anytime on any of my professions or farming lol. Been gearing out my paladin and getting his relic done, now I'm thinking of gearing out my MNK. I really should lvl my hand and land professions but they're sooooo boring w/o the crafting leves.

Getting a Relic weapon is actually easy, the only hard part is doing Titan Hard Mode. Also Crystal Tower is probably the best raid I've ever done in a MMO, it's just to fun and there's barely any trash pulls except the ones before the bosses to some what teach you the boss mechanics.

Man, Netflix has really curbed my desire to purchase any TV shows on Disc

Can't wait to hit end-game. Grinding just pisses me off. I've seen a bit of Crystal Tower, and it does look pretty sweet. Lack of pulls probably helps break the monotony.
