Some folks laughed at me when I said this would happen but I could see it plain as day. No one wanted to believe me when I said the third party exclusive is all but dead now and here you see that I was right about Tekken 6 making the jump to the Xbox 360 all along.
Well you know what they say, he who laughs last, laughs best.

I don't understand why people are saying that Sony doesn't care anymore. They've said themselves before that they didn't pay for exclusives and that they were going to rely on their first/second party games a lot more.
Now they're losing exclusives and they're announcing dozens of first and second party games yet somehow they're not trying anymore?DireToad
Exactly. Just in the last week or two we've had Uncharted 2, Demon Souls and Quantom Theory announced for the PS3. And that's before TGS.

You mean the 11 awesome first party games the announced at TGS? Oh wait..that didn't happen they were just blowing hot air! I don't mean to come off as a fanboy, but this conference was a disaster for Sony. It's nog wonder that some people might believe that they don't care.
off topic: I've been meaning to ask you: Who's the girl in your avatar? I'd hit it!

I thinks i probably because for most people, well known, established franchises weigh much more heavily on the mind than new IP.
Not saying the new IPs wont be good, just that they don't have the same pull.
Yet.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Sony seem to have given up on securing big 3rd party franchises as exclusives (except MGS4) but with all the 1st/2nd party games and new IPs in their lineup it's pretty extreme to say they don't care anymore.
lmao, got some ps3 fanboys heated i see
i always loved the tekken series and dont own a ps3 so this is great news for me

Precisely. Those games Sony lost exclusitivity to were games that came to many gamers' minds when they heard the word 'Playstation', Final Fantasy being among the most prevalent of these games. For so many of these kinds of games to go to rival platforms will naturally make one wonder.

I totally forgot about that thread!
All I can say is that the naysayers have been owned. I told you guys it would happen!
Sony seem to have given up on securing big 3rd party franchises as exclusives
Floppy_Jim
Well I think that was what he was getting at. If in a rather brash form.
Microsoft seem to be focusing in an almost opposite direction. Getting rid of first party and splashing advertising dollars to secure guaranteed success games exclusively for permanent or limited time periods.
Which is a better strategy is debatable.
It's really like Sony just doesn't give a damn anymore. It makes one wonder if their main plan for the PS3 was for it to help Blu Ray beat HD-DVD, and now that that's happened, it's served its primary purpose.Verge_6EXACTLY!
[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"]As someone who doesn't play fighters how big a deal is this? Do Tekken games sell that well? This is a big meh story for me.DireToad

Well its no Final Fantasy if that's what you mean, but it has a fairly strong following.

meh.....
tekken itself doesnt deserve to be called an exclusive anyway.
until tekken 5, i could play it in my nearby videoarcade station.
good for namco going multiplat.
more profits=more chances of getting better games in the future
Lol I totally saw this coming from miles away. It was so obvious. Namco barely said anything about the console version of the game they were working on and Sony hasn't said anything about the game in like 2 years other than saying that it was a "Ps3 exclusive".
I loved playing Tekken back in the PS1 days but I thought the series was going downhill a bit with Tekken 5....But anyways Tekken 6 looks very promising and definitely looks like the return of Tekken as the dominant fighter.

just got off my lazy horse and checked vgchartz. they have tekken 5 as selling 1.65 million. Thats really pretty weak on a console with over 100 million owners for a "big game". Maybe I'm missing something (I fully admit i'm ignorant about fighters)Hey, I liked that punWell the character Yoshimitsu(Tekken series) has long been in Soul Calibur games(multi-plat) so the news really wouldn't be too surprising. Ridge Racer and Ace Combat(both NAMCO) went multi-plat and I'm sure it deepens NAMCO's pockets, so it really makes 'cents'.
I am extremely sorry for the bad, bad, horrible, terrible pun.

Now...if Microsoft would just fix the D-Pad..
This announcement is exactly what I needed...I have no desire to get a PS3 yet (price is simply to steep, and too few games appeal to me), however, Tekken is my favourite fighting franchise (along with Street Fighter). I may very well purchase an X360 sometime in spring, or perhaps even this Christmas.
I admit ownage, I've argued in the past that this would never happen, I was wrong.
Meh, PS3 D-pad FTW:P
I've been saying this since Sept 07.......I had a meeting with the sales reps for that game and they basically hinted that it would come to X360.
Any cow saying this was going to be exclusive was blind to this fact.....X360 will take all exclusives unless Sony pays for them.
If Mgs4 substance is announced for xbox360 im getting rid of my ************ Ps3AgentA-Mi6
Wow, weren't you one of the biggest Cows? I don't see why you would get rid of a console when you could just have both.

Were you active during the FFXIII deal at E3? AgentA converted. :P
Fanboys can make a big deal about this if they want... fact is it's not that good of a game.
This game will get 7.5 tops, and no one would care anymore :|
Lemme get this straight, just like FFXIII, Tekken 6 can only come out on the PS3 is if and when the 360 version is finished? Well because of M$, atleast these games the cows were waiting on now has a more specific release date. Thank you M$.
Apparently all PS3 third party exclusive games needed a bailout plan and Jumped In.
ReverseCycology
Yea a 360 exclusive never went to ps3:roll:. Get over yourself you lem.
I'm starting to wonder if I made a big mistake owning a PS3. Time & time again, Sony keeps losing every 3rd party exclusive.garland51
Yes, yes you did. Sell it and get a 360, use the extra cash from the sale to buy more games. Then you have no reason to feel bad. Its only his generation, next gen is an all new ball game.

IF the guy owns a PS3 already why not just keep it? He can still play this game.
