The Elder Scrolls V is coming and it is a sequel to oblivion. What is it that you want from the game?

I will be honest I found oblivion to be overrated (never played the other TES games), but at the same time I played it for 80 hours or so :P. I think it has many problems and I diss it all the time, but I did have fun with it. That leads me to being excited for TES: V. But I am hoping some of the things that bothered me so much are fixed so I can really enjoy this sequel to oblivion. For meI want them to:

 • Have a better level up system
 • Have more items and more customization in terms of gear
 • Have better skills (maybe a skill tree more like Diablo II) and make a wide range of cool spells (not fireball, iceball, lightingball)
 • Make the environements more varied (I heard morrowind felt unique everywhere)
 • Use a new engine (this one is showing its age, BIG TIME)
 • Personally I would like to see it be a persistan online game like Diablo (but whatever, thats just me)

For me oblivion was awesome at times and dull at others. I hope V can become one of my favorite games. What do you guys want?

A new engine and a good story. I kinda liked the gameplay but the world itself just felt so shallow.

I would love all of the above, but I could forgive quite a lot if I was playing the game co-op with buddies. Thus my vote for multiplayer.

A combat system thats actually fun, voice actors that don't provide their talent for thirty different characters and people that move like people and not robots.

- Turn-Based combat

- C&C

- A complete rework of the skills

- No leveling up skills separately, you have to level your character up then choose what to increase

- Get more voice actors or completely remove it

- Focus on less, but more interesting dungeons

- No more Oblivion planes

- NO LEVEL SCALING

- Diplomacy

- Skills that directly effect dialog choices

- Guilds have to be reworked so there are more rewards for completing all of the quests

- Harder combat

- Improved and new spells to make magic more unique

- Better AI, they can start looking for you if there's a dead body around so there's a reason to drag/hide things

- More civilians to make cities more lively

- Get rid of the minigame to gain a characters trust

- Dice rolls and stat based combat

- Greater focus on the main story, get a brand new team to write it

- The brand new team should focus on interesting characters also

- More interesting dialog between NPCs, NO MORE MUD CRABS

And I could go on, and on, and on.

I hated that crap. The level of the enemy should be based on the area they are in.

this game will be awesome and have so much potential. oblivion came out when like 06, 07 that was so long ago and it was such a great game despite its faults. It made me love the series and I hope they continue that success and more. I hope it has a deeper, longer story. Graphics push the limits. Awesome customization. No garbage horse armor style dlc.

-A game that is actually balanced to accommodate specialized characters (warrior, mage, rogue) rather than just a god at everything class.

-Quest lines that don't treat you like an idiot, actually offering rewards that reflect the effort put in.

-A world that doesn't scale to your level.

-Quality over quantity.

Of course Bethesda has learned it can sell well without doing any of this, in fact they would probably sell better without; because some people like the whole world revolving around them.

No level scaling.

A decent character levelling system.

A new graphic engine would be welcome, the Gamebryo is trash.

- No level or item scaling of any kind.

- Creative and interesting world rather than the typical medieval archetype.

- Unique items hidden throughout the world for the player to discover. Riddles to solve that lead to discovering some in game items.

- Hand made rather than randomly generated or reused dungeons.

- Actual incentives for playing a theif character in the form of unique items only obtainable in this way.

- A custom UI for the PC that doesn't suck.

- A long, complex and interesting main quest.

- A new engine that doesn't feel clunky and allows for more player interaction with the environment.

- A deep and complex character customization system.

I want to be able to put out lights to help with stealth. That would make the game like a massive Thief, which would be awesome for stealthy Oblivion players like me. I would also like to finally see dwarfs, which have been referred to as having died out, but have never been in the games. Women that look like women and voice actors who can actually make their voices sound different for each character would be a huge plus. Fallout had better looking women than Oblivion so I have high hopes.

Newer engine, more variety in terms of environment and a much better story. Oblivion was great but it looks dated now and it's story just felt mediocre :(

Doesn't really matter that i want an experience similar to Morrowind. Considering this gen things can only go downhill. I just hope for a new engine and more diverse environments, more believable characters, and better voice acting.

Having a new engine for a new Elder Scrolls game is a given. No multiplayer, though, I would rather have a well implemented single player than a tacked on multiplayer that would die within a month.

Better customization is a good thing.
Having the option to be the next Emperor of Cyrodiil would be awesome
TES series needs a much better magic system, a world that isn't pointless to explore, no level scaling or limited level scaling in certain cases (level scaling can be done intelligently just not the horrible way Oblivion managed it), add more skills besides combat skills that have a meaningful impact on the game, get rid of the janky gambryo engine and they really need to add some heft to your decisions amongst other things.

This is something I strongly disagree. I think the leveling system in Elder Scrolls games are much better than the normal system where only when leveling up, you can distribute points to your skills. Like you kill 10 rats and suddenly you know how to convince people to your cause. Like wtf?

*looks at poll* Why the hell isn't a good story up there? I want Morrowind's story telling and law with Oblivion's combat and TBH i'ld prefer it if the dialogue was in text form as it's near impossible to get a decent ammount of good dialogue in a game.

At least update the engine. Better animation specifically run/walk and facial animations. Get more voice actors so we don't have a single person doing like 50 characters. Get a bigger test team to actually test each quest multiple times (running into rather obvious questline bugs got a bit annoying) . Better and more believable reputation system. And for gods sake give us back the levitate spell!!!

A Multiplayer system where u can choose to enter worlds AKA servers and level your character up and such and go around complete missions in the world and such and running into other people however the cities are peace zones and u can only attack another player out in the wild.

-new Graphics engine

-MOREE Customization eg Weopons and Armour painting

-Better Leveling

-WAY MORE NPC's as seriously how can 20 people live in a huge city

- A more diverse and expanding world cause cyrodil was shallow but i LOVED Shivvering Isles i would like us to go to either sommerset isle or Skyrim

- NO levelled monsters cause seriously how 20 goblin warlords live in 1 cave

- More Weopons and Armour and i dont mean just steel armour thats black but completely different armour and i'd like things like venetian war hammers and blah

- AND FOR MY FINAL AND PROB IN EVERY1s MIND WANT

MORE THAN 6 VOICE ACTORS CMON!!!!!!!!

It's not supposed to make sense, it is however supposed to make the game balanced. You shouldn't be able to be some archer, mage, warrior mixture that is good as every non-combat skill, you turn into some sort of demigod.

A structured leveling system makes it so you have to think about what you want your character to be and what you want to increase, instead of turning you into an all powerful being.

Really? The combat was crap in the game and the level system ruined any sort of character creation the game could have.

I haven't completed it either but the story is pretty poor, or atleast implemented badly. Oblivion's story would work in a linear action/adventure but the whole idea of a fast paced relitively simple story dosn't work in such an open world as you can always just go do something else: You must save Kvatch, it's been invaded by Daedra! *goes to Anvil and deals with break-ins*.

Do you mean make it more like diablo where each character has their own set of skills and you levl up then choose a skill to level up? If so I much prefer it to oblivions jumping around to level up my agility or whatnot. Oblivions leveling up was pretty awful.

More Unique Environments- Oblivion had very generic landscapes and dungeons. It was a big difference from Morrowind where much of the environment felt different and handcrafted.
Better storytelling- A return to the same level as Morrowind's storyline would be great. The storyline behind Oblivion was fairly straight forward.
A New or heavily revamped engine- This is pretty much a must. I am growing tired of seeing the same exact quirks in every game.

They could also take a different approach to how they start the game and do what they did in Fallout 3. Instead of dropping player's into a world with a loose yet of objects they could give the player a slightly more defined approach to how they play the game. This seemed to work out well for Fallout 3 as the game recieved less complaints about confusion at the start.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about.

Also, when I played Oblivion instead of walking I was jumping to level up skills, it's pathetic.

Am I the only person who likes level scaling in WRPGs? I thought it was nice because you could do whatever you wanted to from the beginning without having to worry about going to the wrong place and getting destroyed. It also kept the early locations from becoming boringly easy.

Honestly all I hope for is a new engine. I had no prior experience with RPGs and Oblivion was my first one (For PC anyway.) I honestly bought it just cause it looked really pretty (And it still does, especially with mods.) I didn't really enjoy it until a few years later and after I found out what mods were.

Maybe they can borrow iD's Tech 5 engine?

TSNAKE617

Level scaling ruins the point of leveling up in the first place, if everything is leveling up with you then why should you level up in the first place? Being able to beat the game at level one isn't cool to me.

- Turn-Based combat

- No leveling up skills separately, you have to level your character up then choose what to increase

Seriously? that would ruin the game

Really? The combat was crap in the game and the level system ruined any sort of character creation the game could have.

ok i'm gonna have to agree with toast_burner here i thinl leveling up your character in fields he uses instead of just leveling up then choosing cause seriously how would killing 20 ogres with a sword make u able to lockpick a harder lock cmon. And turn based combat thats your opinion but i yhink that would ruin the game seriously i mean in every fighting aspect it would ruin it and i dont think i'm alone saying this.

Am I the only person who likes level scaling in WRPGs? I thought it was nice because you could do whatever you wanted to from the beginning without having to worry about going to the wrong place and getting destroyed. It also kept the early locations from becoming boringly easy.

Yes, of course it's just natural that the wolves you meet just outside the Sewers are much tougher at level 50 than they are at level 1.

It makes so much sense, right?

It's not like progression has any meaning. After all, we're talking about a RPG.

I agree with that but i think a better method would be to apply a multiplier to your skills' training rates based on what class you choose at the begining.
