I would have to agree...I would have to vomit.
Same here.
Think my current favorite is Mr. Lif. But I think Nas takes the cake as best of all time.
Illmatic, It Was Written, Lost Tapes, Stillmatic, God's Son..need I say more?
As for lyricist, it's quite a tie between likes such as Nas, Aesop Rock, Big Juss, Vast Aire.
Since then Nas has fallen off and resorts to the "N" word and releasing on black history month to get attention for his album.Lil Wayne is the future of rap even Jay-Z said it.
...Jay-Z?
He has no say till he releases another Reasonable Doubt or Blueprint, sorry. Illmatic alone demolishes anything Lil' Wayne has tried to accomplish.
The future does not lie in the hands of some mainstream cRAP. The future has always been in the hand of those who actually try to change the state of hiphop for the better; Lil Wayne does not fit this category.
Here's someone who does:
American Gangster was awesome and Lil Wayne is anything but mainstream. His success comes from his mixtapes which you might not have heard.LMA:lol:  WTH was that? No metaphors? No adlibs? No double entendre? You can't be the future of hip hop with none of those things and most importantly, no delivery.
I liked his subject matter but thats about it
American Gangster was okay at best. As I've said, I've heard some of Wayne's material, and he sure as hell is mainstream wether you want to acknowledge it or not.
Wow...I love your analysis of the song. The song was pretty much straight-forward, talking about the miserable state of hiphop today. The fact that you claimed that he had no delivery is enough for me to regard your post as moot. Fantastic lyrics, with great wordplay, a voice and flow that pretty much runs around Lil Wayne in circles, and more importantly a message that'll keep you thinking for quite some time. Lil' Wayne has yet to impress me even halfway within these elements.
There are several successful (success as in bringing the genre back to its roots) that don't necesarilly use any of the **** you listed to get their point across in a way that puts most rappers (including Lil' Wayne) to shame.
Wrong on all counts. Even Lupe Fiasco would run circles around that kid. Jay-Z would and so would Lil Wayne. You can't listen to Lil wayne's mainstream work and judge him based on that. He's famous for what he does off camera really. Like I said I completely disagree so lets agree to disagree.
