Finally a non-rendered version of the system. 🙂 PDF Link

Yeah i think the discless version was the original design...and it was really envisioned to be played vertically. *tilts head*.......yep.
still no shot of the back. if the 3D render from the last show from sony is accurate cooling is not going to be a problem. its more a vent with a console stuffed in around it :p. lots and lots of ventilation.
i like it though. it has character. it's a bit different. nice to see.
It looks like they've managed to create a console that actually needs 2 stands....one for each axis. The picture of the back shows a stand with what looks like hooks of some kind, while the vertical pictures show a flat stand.
Knowing Sony, I wouldn't be surprised if they charged for the horizontal stand.

good catch .. I didnt notice that
I found where they came from

In that article there is a link to a PDF of where the images originated and they show more angles and even a pic of the base alone (it is the same base used both ways)
I wish they went with a different design. It won't deter me from eventually getting it, but it is not a hardware design I really like either. The diskless version looks better imo, but not by much. I may wait for a slim design to get one. I'll have to see one in person to really judge.
@Zero_epyon: Who was that somebody? Call them out.
Nah I don't really want to. It's Saturday lol.
I thought the expansion slot for the nvme drive was in front but that's a button. Looks like you can open the system from the bottom and that's probably where the slot is.
@regnaston: It looks like the hook would be to the back of the console. It may also be the reason they haven't shown the back of the console in most of their shots.
I don't know.. that slot looks like where the sides go so it may be slightly behind and not perpendicular to the unit but probably still visible on the side

You are right. If that stand is needed for it to be upright, then that protrusion is a bit unsightly.
In my opinion,I don't think either the PS5 or the XSX would win any console design award, but MS console looks better then Sony's. PS5 looks horrid.
By the looks of it, i'm guessing its just a motherboard inside, it flares out near the base to house a second board that'll sit above the motherboard which will be the power supply unit. Honestly, I am more interested in the controller since I use a PS4 controller on PC, and my PS4 controller is pretty worn out.

Where are you seeing that?
On the bottom. It's hard to see but it looks like a seem. It could be that this is just a removable plate that gives you access to the slot. Speculation on my part. I really doubt Sony's going to ask you to open up the PS5 to install a drive.
There is a strong argument that a lot of people will prefer the Xbox Series S just because they don't want that ugly monstrosity in their living rooms. For those who know and care about hardware specs, it's the Xbox Series X all the way.
