The Best Grand Theft Auto IYO?

Whats the best Grand Theft Auto game in your opinion?

Ive owned every GTA game so far and imo GTA ChinaTown Wars on the DS is the best of the bunch. Sure it doesnt have the best graphics and its on a handheld, but its got the best story, missions and art design imo. Also has some fantastic music for a ds game! And the most important part of a game... Its the most fun out of the GTA games!

Haven't played Chinatown Wars yet so I'll go with San Andres then Vice City.

GTA IV for me. I want to play CW badly, but I'm DS-less.mo0ksi

Its so awesome, i keep waiting for it to get boring or for me praise for it to stop, but its just a fantastic game. Highly reccomended.

I can't really pick one over the other, but I'd have to say my top 3 are:

I am from Miami so there IS that "homey" feel to the game :D

GTA San Andreas is my favorite.

I haven't gotten around to purchasing Chinatown Wars (I hear good things about it), but I would have to say San Andreas. Every aspect of the game was really awesome, even though quality didn't cover every corner of it. I believe 4 did a great job creating a city that felt alive, gritty, and bustling with activity, but much of that was due to the technology they were able to utilize this time around. San Andreas blew my mind when it was released (I purchased it for PS2). If Rockstar can supply the muscle to create a bigger and better GTA using the technology used in 4 (and there's no doubt they will), then perhaps we'll see the bar pushed again.

Vice City by far. It captured everything about what "Grand Theft Auto" stands for in a perfect package of over-the-top '80's styIe combined with hilarious and very well executed political and media satire. Along with a soundtrack that basically epitomizes the 1980's music industry.

Hey SA had a great rock station almost as good as Vice Cities

IIRC I dig every single song from that station... plus the other stations were cool too (except the country one :P)

IIRC I dig every single song from that station... plus the other stations were cool too (except the country one :P)

Vice City was the most fun imo.

GTA4 took out all the crime and hookers and replaced it with a cheesy story. I'm gonna go with Vice City

Nothing can compare to the first time I popped in Vice City. For its time it sure was perfect.

By that I mean that it feels more like being a criminal in the past games than just being and inmigrant looking for work

I have only put few hours into GTA4 and haven't played Chinatown so I'm excluding it.

Out of the other GTA games it has to be San Andreas. There were a lot of memorable fun mission in the game.

Only w-iggers like San Andreas. It should stay in the junk pile with the other arcade driving games like Saint's Row. All (Grandmaster) flash and zero substance. Getting a jet pack or a UFO to drive around is the definition of Jumping The Shark... dr-venkman
