can you guess? Super Smash bros. Brawl with 8.5 million sales worldwide. Im glad because it's such a fantastic, balanced, high-action fighter and anyone who says its just a shallow button masher is just sorely mistaken, Its one of the best multiplayer games ever made and you simply haven't played it if you think its anything less

Too bad i haven't played it in ages but mark my words, no one can take me as shiek lol

The most fun you will ever have with a fighting game IMO. It's a no contest if you have 4 players with you. Street Fighter follows closely though.

I knew some serious fighting game fans that are really nice at smash ... its funny tho, they don't play Brawl but the N64 version still when they play that (they have the gamecube one too)

Its online was awful it has so much potential that was squandered.. But its local play is amazing with so much options and game modes.. Companies like Capcom need to take notes that fighting games need to have MORE than just a arcade mode and a VS's mode.. Where is my tournament modes? Where are other unique modes like possibly tag team battle? etc etc.

brawl sucks and is in no way "balanced" fyi, and nor is it "high action". Brawl plays about as fast as grass growing. melee is far better.

where are you getting that brawl has slow gameplay? Unless you enjoy playing as Bowser in New Pork City or something the gameplay tends to be pretty fast paced.

Compared to Melee,Brawl is pretty slow, with its lack of L-canceling,lack of things like wavedashing, and an overall slower pace.

because i've been playing smash competitvely now for about 4-5 years? And once you play melee compettively playing brawl is a joke its almost unbearably slow. im not kididng when i say even smash 64 is faster paced than brawl :|

yeah what was Nintendo thinking when they fixed a glitch from Melee?

Depending on who you ask, wavedashing might or might not be a glitch. And contrary to popular belief, wavedashing doesn't suddenly give someone an overwhelming advantage; applying it is the key.

And even if that one thing is a glitch, there are ton of other fundamental gameplay elements the developers removed.

Sense when was a slower pace a bad thing? Not defending the game, but I find that a rather ridiculous complaint, faster gameplay does not lead to superior gameplay.

well they didnt fix l-canceling from 64 to melee, so why did they "fix" l-canceling from melee to brawl? Granted, l-canceling may or may not have been a glitch but thats besides the point. Wavedashing may have been a glitch but it was one that enhanced gameplay and made it better, I dont really understand why the removed it, or l-canceling. actually, i do, sakurai fully admits to removing the competitve aspects of melee when making brawl, he admits to intentionally making it as casual friendly and non-competitive as possible. thats why brawl sucks

Comboing and hitstun were both removed from Brawl,so they must have been glitches.

Umm...for all intents and purposes, it does.

The reason why brawl is "slower", is because the general physics of the game such a gravity, character weights, hitstun etc are all toned down. when couple toghter, they amount to what is the pace of the game. With less hitstun, and characters that are generally more floaty than before, there are no combos, let me repeat, no combos in brawl.

Nearly Every single string of attacks in brawl can be escaped realistically after the first or second hit. So therefore, brawl doesnt have any combos and doesnt require a lot of skill because of it. So...to put it simply, when they made the game slower, they basically increased defensive options so much so to the point where its gameplay is borderline boring. so yea, slower pace does equal less superior in brawls case

well, thats one and the same isnt it? you program the game such that there is little hit stun, and increased float, and decreased gravity....which results in no combos.... i dont really understand the difference you're trying to imply...

my point: they wanted less combos. it wasnt a result from its new physics

if they wanted, they could have put all the increased float and decreased gravity AND still have combos

Brawl is a little more casualized than Melee. this is what they wanted from it, i suppose they thought that some of the juggling combos were unfair

False. What are chaingrabs if not combos? But I am sorry that you can only play solitare and get 0-deaths with a mere three characters.

Never did understand why combos = depth. To me, they remove depth.

actually you're mistaken. they wanted less combos indeed, thats why they made the physics the way they are. Look at Brawl+, add a little more hitstun and weight and suddenly, a lot of attacks combo into one another again. so what you're saying is, they wanted less combos so they magically made it so, and just coincedentally shanged the physics. what im telling you is, they changed the physics in such a way because they know thats what would limit combos.

If you really want to argue that chaingrabs = combos solely for the purpose of disporving my point that "combos dont exist in brawl" then go ahead, hold tihgtly onto those straws  i dont really know what the hell the second half of that sentence is supposed to mean. and no one cares what you think about combos..

It's pretty obvious that combos exist in the game when two characters are completely 100% reliant on them (DDD and Ice Climbers).

weird cause the game is just a button masher lol

Funny. I can button mash in Starcraft and win easier than in Smash.

um no? smash dosent have that many moves in it and it just ends up like a fun button masher when friends are over

Maybe for you...

Like i said, if your so hellbent on disproving that combos exist in brawl as to claim that chaingrabs are comboes, then go ahead, i really dont care either way. JPOBS

You're acting like it's a stretch or something. It's a series ofmoves where your opponent can't respond in between. How is that not a combo?

But you can't mash buttons randomly and win. The game simply doesn't work like that. You're more likely to fall off the stage if you try.
