Sorry, but 8.9 doesn't cut it :] lbjkurono23
Cool story bro.
Very original...not sure if srs, besides, my version of TP got an 8.8, and you know what? I'm taking that 8.8, I'm taking Wii GotY, I'm taking 95 average metascore, I'm taking 2006 GotY nominee on GS and I'm taking my two playthroughs with me. Now THAT'S a cool story. 8)
Twilight Princess.
Sure, nostalgia may tell you to pick an older game, but this is the real sequel to Ocarina of Time. And it's better. Deal with it.
NeonNinja
lacks:
instruments/songs
lovable characters
good towns (the city sucked, and it wasn't very open)
and the vibe that Zelda needs to have
Great game, but it felt somewhat empty. It does however have arguably the best dungeons and is obviously the longest compaign.

Good I'll take the highest rated game of all time 97.48%(just because two can play that game ;) )
Wind Waker is the boss. The fight atop was the tower with Ganondorf and Zelda with all the water pouring down... dear god, twas so epic. (not putting any of that in spoilers either, shame on you if you haven't played Wind Waker yet) As for the main antagonist, it's Ganon bro. He's not really any different in Wind Waker than in any others.

True, it doesn't have instruments or songs. But I didn't miss that feature. I was too busy howling into the night sky.
As far as lovable characters, Midna is more lovable, moreso than most Zelda casts as a whole.
In regards to good towns, I'll give that one to you.
I don't know what you mean by vibe. It was certainly darker than most Zelda games, so maybe you want more of that free-spirited adventure feel from Wind Waker? I love that feel too, but I felt that Twilight Princess nailed its mood very well.
Add in some of the best level design in a videogame, a 60 hour game that is just as fun the second time around you have what I would argue is the best Zelda game. I will say that Ocarina of Time is the most important and I enjoyed it very much, and that Wind Waker is my favorite based on the themes. But Twilight Princess is the best. It's a solid refinement of the series that improves almost every facet that should be improved upon.

That plus I had no issues with the motion controls. They worked fine for me.
I do have one major critcism against Twilight Princess, but that criticism will likely help prove my point of why it's the best.

Just saying. The game is damn awesome if I can look past those flat, sharp breasts and still enjoy it, right? If that doesn't make a solid case for why it's the best than I don't know what does.

I agree, personally it made it a better experience.

It is like trying to win against FFVII fanboys/fangirls in a "best FF" poll. Its impossible to counter massive nostalgia.DJ-Lafleur
All these games are super old. If the other games are so much better than why is it that people have so much nostalgia for OoT and FFVII but not as much for FFVIII, or MM and Alttp?.... I think the games quality plays into the nostalgia, it can't be just time of release alone because they all came out pretty much in the same time frame.. the games are more popular for a reason
Foxhound probably just doesn't like that people think OoT is better than LttP and is just using nolstalgia as an excuse to say people liking OoT the most are wrong.
I don't think he has even finished OOT, from reading another thread, so his opinion isn't exactly the best one of the bunch.
Personally, I like OOT the best followed by MM. LTTP, I played for the first time on the GBA, and while I liked it a lot, I don't prefer it over those two.

Agree, TP is an amazing game, very underrated IMO.
Aw, hell, Ocarina is winning. Ocarina is NOT supposed to be winning! It's a great game, but I like every other game I listed up there more than I like Ocarina! Argh! Well, at least it's still a really great and competent title that's beating out my personal favorite :cry:charizard1605
You had to know Ocarina would pull ahead. Even though you directly asked what is the best Zelda, most people will just vote for their favorite and not which one they actually think is the best game (though often times people cant make that distinction.)
As I said before, My fav is a tie between OoT and LttP, but I voted WW as I consider it the most well made game in the series.
OoT is immensely popular though, I'm surprised it isn't winning by an even greater margin.

I often lean more towards MM though. Best sequel Ive ever played.
Majora's Mask was indeed surreal. I have never played a game like that one.

Exactly. I'm not usually the type to throw the term overrated around, but OoT and FFVII are two of the most grossly overrated games of all time. I loved both games, but the amount of praise they get is extremely disproportional to how great any game could possibly be.
They are on a level of popularity that cannot be contended with.

Aw come on, don't be that way! :( Asking me what´s my favourite Zelda is like asking me what´s my favourite turd Chaz....and I would find easier to select a turd. :o :PSeriously though, probably AlttP,it´s the only one I´ve finished anyway,I´m not fond of the 3D ones at all, though I find the artstyle of WW nice, especially with that nice AA and at 1080p. :P
I had a hard time between choosing Twilight Princess, Majoras Mask, and Ocarina of Time so it came down to the moment I first played OOT.
There will never be a moment like that in gaming for me ever again. It was like going from watching black in white t.v to Avatar in 3d, like eating dirt in bugs, to eating steak and caviar. It marked the turning point from playing games to kill time to actively looking for games, saving money for games, and avidly playing games. People say its overrated but thats to be expected for the greatest game of all time, it was ahead of its time and action adventure games still cant compete, they can merely try and copy.

So... Phantom Hourglass is your fav.

Twilight Princess' combat, environments, artstyle, puzzles and music stood out for me. So yeah, I'm going with every one's favourite hate target and saying Twilight Princess won it over for me.
