I wouldn't play it, but it's the only fighting game I can actively play on my PS3, since my arcade stick doesn't work with my new CPU. That'll change in the next week when AH3 arrives. I play what I can, IF I can.

Oh, and while the thread wasn't about GG, your post had something wrong about it. So I responded.

You're so hostile, what with your italics and such.

OneSanitarium

I've honestly never heard of anyone playing a game that they don't like.

If you play what you can, if you can then don't bash BB as you can easily pick up a copy of Guilty Gear for the PS1 for $7 on ebay to play on the PS3, as its apparently far superior to BB...

Yes, because the first game of a series can compete with a later game from the same developers who have the experience from working on said series.

Considering the first GG doesn't have as much depth as GGXX#RL or GGAC, I would't buy it. Yeah, I might actually prefer that to BB, But I would rather play an XX game.

Wow man, your a genius for doin that. I mean, tryin to use what I said against me. You must get straight A's or something.

But seriously, I wouldn't buy the PS1 GG and play it over BB. Why? Because it's ArcSys first attempt at a game, that they made to appeal to fans of rock/metal. It eventually evolved into the complex, deep, (superior than BB) games that are, well to be honest, most of the PS2 ones. But that happened over a generation or so.

But yeah, compare a two generation old game to a current generation one. Good job.

Hey man, you're the one who said GG is so much better than BB right? I didn't appreciate the bashing so I was just throwing it back in your face. :P

OneSanitarium

Damn, didn't realice have that many typos, however, i check it and guess what, there wasn't any, BB is indeed better than GG and SF4.

First things first.

To be fair, you did fail to mention Arcana Heart 3.

I always forget this franchise, wasn't very popular around here, i only played 2, however, it was good, really good, hope to see AH3 localized and with a good community.

Capcom Vs Arcsys would be incredibly hype and everyone in this thread knows it. Just make the combat system similar to GG, add assists in and bam. Awesome game. Also while I prefer GGs system I prefer BB characters.

So, anyone excited for 10 years of MAHVELL?

thompson20

I would lie if i said no, MvSF is one of my favorite fighters, never was a hugen MvC fan, but this one is looking good, despite the lack of Gambit and the awful DLC Capcom will release.

Akuma and Taskmaster are officially announced, only 4 more characters to go. we currently have 34 characters, but not including 2 DLC characters Jill and Shuma-Gorath. These DLC characters aren't accurate as the OD characters.

Okay gang, you guys made it on the line without any flaming, general naughtiness, arguing, trolling and other bad stuff. So there's school tomorrow for me, so I'll be right back tomorrow, so take care.

P.S. If I see any flaming, general naughtiness, trolling, and other bad stuff when I got back, one of you is going to be in big trouble.

You had the gall to say BB was better than GG.

Opinions don't matter at this point. When you say BB is better than GG, you're just plain wrong.

OneSanitarium

Yeah, because I can't have an opinion.... BB>GG or GG>BB is all a matter of preference, not a fact so why don't you get off your little high horse.

GG>BB is a right opinion.

BB>GG is a wrong statement.

You can't have opinions when it involves BB being better than GG.

I like GG more then BB but your coming off as an jerk dude.

Blazblue is a significantly better game than Street Fighter. It even has a decent amount of Single Player content. All that aside though, Capcom is pretty hideous at balancing their games which is why I'd recommend Arc's fighters.

It's amazes me how often I hear about GG being much deeper and more difficult than BB (which is true) yet execution by American players is still terrible in both games. I don't mean that to sound super elitist, I just find it funny how people haven't really mastered either game or their deeper mechanics yet act like BB is below them.

Saying that there are a lot of people who never mastered either game and think BB is below them? I'd say that's pretty true if you frequent the dustloop forums and I imagine you do. Also true is that the level of competition in the US for GG and BB was never that great. There were a few players who are obviously a large cut above the general populous and even they aren't good enough to get past first round at SBO ever. This isn't me trying to say I'm an amazing player. What I am trying to get at is that it's one thing to prefer GG over BB, but entirely different to act like BB is some casualized abomination when players here still can't wrap their heads around BB's simplified system.

I much prefer Blazblue. I've never been a big fan of SF.

Oh, & I've only played Guilty Gear XX Reload so far, but I prefer Blazblue. There must be another game in the franchise that everyone loves so much for it to be much better than Blazblue I guess. Or nostalgia. Or personal preference.

To be fair from what I've observed he is right about the majority of American players when it comes to GG and BB. I mean even the pros will drop combos all over the place, burst poorly, fail at blocking overheads and fail at teching purple throws in BB and then I watch them play GG and they do about the same. Yes BB is less technical than GG, I don't think anyone will argue that. But BB is still reasonably deep.

Well gang, this concludes the prologue of the topic/thread, Onward to the first episode.

Episode I: 3 vs. 3 battles

In this episode, you can make your own match requests and match preparations. Don't worry, they'll be any dire consequences.

When I got back, I didn't see any bad stuff. Nice job everyone, keep up the good work.

You played this one, right?

This game marked me, i was obsessed with the game, i think i played every character twice. I loved it. Fast paced action & wacky characters like i've never seen before. It's obvious why some would prefer Blazblue, after all it's GG's spiritual succesor, a improved version.

Oh, and as a hard core fighter fan:

Garou: Mark of the Wolfs > Street fighter: Third Strike >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GG = Blazblue.

Garou is the greatest fighting game ever made.

BlazBlue > Guilty Gear in Story

Guilty Gear > BlazBlue > Street Fighter for the Topic.

@LegatoSkyheart They're the same thing, because, it don't have any casualties for Astral Combos and Distortion Combos in BlazBlue

@OneSanitarium The phrase regarding for the fighting franchises were a clear start.

@LegatoSkyheart & OneSanitarium Akuma and Taskmaster are officially announced yesterday taking roster to 34, only 4 more to go, so 4 more characters will be announcedbefore or in February 15, 2011, so get ready. I hope they're not going to add Sentinel because he don't fight well.

You'll never be able to say BB and GG are the same, since they aren't. Two almost entirely different games.

I don't really care much for MvC3, it just doesn't seem interesting to me.

However, Akuma and Taskmaster are unlockable characters. Akuma = 2000 PP and Taskmaster = 8000 PP Also, it is so interesting since Niitsuma-san said that it will have 38 characters.

Well gang. I have some bad news, Sentinel is going to be in MvC 3, they didn't put in Mega Man, and said that it will have 36 characters, but the good news is that Hsien-Ko (a.k.a. Lei Lei) is instantly added to the roster.

Yeah can't wait for Marvel vs Capcom 3 but anyway.

The major difference between Guilty Gear and BlazBlue is that I can DESTROY a Character instantly at the beginning of the battle in Guilty Gear but I have to have won ONE battle and my opponent has to have only 30% health remaining to use the Astral Finish.

and what do you mean by casualties?

By casualties, I only mean no doubt with Astral Combos, Also, your opponent's health needs to be in 20% health in the final round to do an Astral Finish or am Astral Combo Finish.

LegatoSkyheart

Or the whole FRC's thing.

Or Dust.

Or Impossible dusts.

Or jump installing.

Or no 5 frame leniency on everything.

Or no force breaks.

Or harsher penalties on people who play too defensively.

Or the whole Slashback thing.

Or the wall binding.

But yeah, that whole "Instant kill" thing is obviously the biggest difference.

LegatoSkyheart

Yeah can't wait for Marvel vs Capcom 3 but anyway.

The major difference between Guilty Gear and BlazBlue is that I can DESTROY a Character instantly at the beginning of the battle in Guilty Gear but I have to have won ONE battle and my opponent has to have only 30% health remaining to use the Astral Finish.

and what do you mean by casualties?

So how much time have you invested into GG? Doesn't seem like much.

By casualties, I only mean no doubt with Astral Combos, Also, your opponent's health needs to be in 20% health in the final round to do an Astral Finish or am Astral Combo Finish.

No he's correct. In CS it's: Round to win, 1 burst, 100 heat and enemy with less than 30% health. While BB and GG are very different when it comes to technical bits they are relatively similar considering that they are technically different series.

@Ace630 In BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, I tested their Astral Combos and this is blast. Calamity Trigger has 12 characters, I don't know how many characters that Continuum Shift have, maybe 15 characters?

Dude, Not being able to use your Destruction Move I believe is a major change.

and Yes I know about the other little changes from Guilty Gear to BlazBlue but I just thought the Destruction Move had the biggest Change.

Really? All of the things OneSan listed directly effect the game play, Destruction Moves however are rarely ever used in a match.

Little changes? No way in hell man.

In Blazblue you have a lot less options, a lot less mechanics you can use, and just all around changes that prevent it from being a better fighter.

In most, if not all Professional match videos I have seen, Instant Kills are rarely used. I don't know what makes you think it's the largest change. It's not.

Removing Mechanics has a larger effect than just changing them.

Oh god, you weren't kidding

lol@ Slayer instant kill being countered with chipps instant kill.

I'll offer a word of advice, Since Slayer doesn't have any actual reversals, use his strength as your advantage. Wait untill you see an opening and abuse it.

Since thats #Rl, go for the biteloop. Do his command grab(bite), dash forward and repeat. You can get around 7 reps in that game.

And maybe not mash. You got blown up a lot for that. And learn some combos/hit confirms.

Yeah slayer has huge damage, but most of his combos involve links and such. His aerial ones are decently easy though, since those chain together. Im probably coming off as a **** though.
