Why would I need to shield myself in the first place? I played it, then I forgot about it.

I don't mind a little linearity in shooters, open world/free realming is overrated and at best only gives you the illusion of freedom. Not that I think COD is a good game or even a decent example.

AnnoyedDragon

In other words what was passed as a factual statement comes down to preference when it is questioned.

Quite frankly "forgettable" is a word I reserve for generic/run of the mill games, which is hardly what you could call Crysis.

Why are you arguing with yourself? You're the one who claimed it's a factual statement, then you're saying it's not.

If not for preference System Wars wouldn't even exist in the first place. Feel free to reserve whatever word you like.

[QUOTE="princeofshapeir"] The sound, voice acting, music, and gameplay features of the Nanosuit, as well as the ability to choose how you enter an encounter make the game very fun for me. There's a reason that so many critics liked it, and it's not just because of the graphics. nunovlopes

For me when I played Crysis, it was like "why would I want to enter a fight differently?". Why would I was to find a car and drive 5 minutes just so I can plow it into an enemy camp, or why would I want to spend even more time with the stealthy approach and sneak around? I'm not particularly patient or creative, so I either went with the cloak/kill/hide or just sniping from afar. If I remember correctly also wasn't fond of the traveling time between points.

That's your problem right there. The greatest thing about Crysis is that each player will have a different and unique experience, depending on their particular play st1le. That's more than you can say for most shooters.

No arguments there, the problem when a game offers that much freedom is that results may vary. I just didn't find the various ways to dispatch opposition very fun since they're not necessary as effective and much more time consuming.

Pretty much this, Crysis was a play-and-forget shooter.

h575309

for the cod mw generation it was. for older gamers sick of overly scripted and ultra linear shooters it was a breath of fresh air

Your giving it too much credit. At its core it was still linear. It wasnt on rails of course.

how so?

shooting mechanics and customisable weapons? check

multiple attacking routes / options? check

option to use vehicles? check

huge open environments? check

sumptuous visuals? check

great game in my book, anything but a "play and forget" shooter

It has been years since Crysis' release and not a single game has been able to top it.

thanks for your opinion. crysis is about the only fps this gen worth going back to. killzone blah nothing but graphics, cod4 blah nothing but repretivie online same goes for mw2. crysis actually has a awesome sp unlike just about every other fps. consolites might only see the graphics but a game doesn't beat out every other fps for soty 2007 just by graphics. It's the open level design and the awesome gameplay that made it better than all those other fps. crysis running on low settings is still a better sp game than every console shooter this gen.

In gameplay, yes they have been topped.... by miles.

Miles? In the single player department? Try again.

Seriously? Single player is has its own head up it's arse with physics... its a tech demo.

By what? Aside from STALKER there are no pure FPSes this gen that can match up to Crysis gameplay from singleplayer perspective. Heck...games like Modern Warfare feel like something designed a decade before Crysis

I don't care to listen to you Console or PC fanboys... I speak my own mind. Sorry... I know that's a new concept around here, I thought I'd give it a try.

Not to act childish or anything, but you are the person who repeatedly posts here. And nah duh, who doesn't speak their own mind. And no you're not unique by doing this, all this stuff has been said tons of times before.

I didn't claim my ideas were unique. You guys just can't stand to hear anything else besides someone agree with your own opinion.

Must be proud of lack of sales due to need of great graphics cards.

RobboElRobbo

Actually Crysis has sold over 2 million.. Andnow a video card you can get for as low as like $120 can play the game at high settings.
