But the PC suck, its powerfull yes,user-friendly no,has good looking games yes, that chug like thomas the tank engine
Console gaming is user friendly more practical, and, social,i cant get my frineds round for a game of Wic can i/no we have to have LAN parties, the single most nerdy thing ever

we already owned you in the other thread, I dont feel like wasting time here too :/
Wrong, wrong, wrong, and wrong. PC gaming, for the most part, is far more accessible and user friendly than it ever has been in the past. Patches and drivers are automatically downloaded, installations are extremely easy to understand, the interface is extremely streamlined, its able to hook up to TVs, if you even have a relatively new rig it will play all new games perfectly fine, etc. As far as social goes, misconception, the PC practically invented the lan. There is more tournament support for the PC, huge conventions with thousands of people playing games, LAN suopport, and some games even support multiplayer split screen. The PC has all the ammenities necessary to be fully sociable. But the PC suck, its powerfull yes,user-friendly no,has good looking games yes, that chug like thomas the tank engine

On the flip side, I have been having bad probs installing anything. I keep getting CRC errors and it has not made me happy!Vulcan110That means you have a super old DVD/CD drive thats dieing on you.

funny you post that picture, that was the guy who happily traded his place in line for the ps3 on launch day in san fransisco for a PC given by Falcon Northwest and PCGamer. See, he's smart.
you just owned yourself, I think.

His setup looks nice, speakers look kind of crappy, but the rest is nice.
EDIT: oh it's a falcon, ok now those are amazing. :P
One of my old friends bought an Alienware, the thing overheated on him every 15 minutes and it just froze for a while. It was a huge pos. His mom paid like 3000 dollars for it too.

Ya and there's not this thing called ps3 huh?:roll:A 360 gamer pays $60 for his game, puts it in the disk drive, plays for 1 hour and has the thing RROD. Then, he has to wait at least 1 week before getting it back, play another 1 hour and gets another RROD. It goes on, just slower until he's got really bored paying $5 a month for the Multiplayer of the game, then, instead of having the luxury of mods for adding even more value to the replayability of the game, has to buy a completely new game for another $60 and play it with monthly RRODs.
A PC gamer checks the system requirements for a game, buys it for $50, installs it, plays, tweaks settings, and plays without any likely failures assuming he wasn't idiotic or unfortunate enough to come across some viruses or other problems. Then, after getting bored, he goes to [insert random website here] and downloads mods and maps, rinces, repeats and gets years of playtime from $50.

Playing with the settings is still better than playing console games. But if it bothers you, you can always just set everything to low and be done with it, that's pretty much the equivalent of console experience.EntwineXAh finally someone throwing up EPIC damage control.

Everything else is pretty much right, settings aren't that hard to configure, especially for a tech guy like yourself. But yeah, it looks pretty horrible on lowest settings(Anything).

Oh dear god PC gaming is just incredibly sad.

Most games now a days check your systems setting before even playing it sets it what thinks will perform best on you hardware. So that just about makes this hold thread fail. Oh hey how bout you go play with some mods. Oh wait you cant. Too bad. While your playing a game once I can play it again with mods and have a completely different experience than the first time.
I am a PC gamer actually so dont think you can lie to me.Optimal settings that a game gives you is a complete joke.I cannot max out HL2 through optimal settings whereas i can actually max it easily.I just bought need for speed prostreet. When i loaded the game guess what was giving low settings in 640x480.The game needless to say looks terrible but runs a charm but when i put all settings to max it doesnt run very well.So WTF am i supposed to do.The game had no optimal settings. It just gives you the lowest possible settings and then well what do we do then?
Sorry man but PC gaming is just sad until this horrible flaw is fixed.
If you have to ask that question, then maybe you shouldn't be a PC gamer. I would rather have to adjust my setting and at least have that option, than to be stuck with set settings that I can not tweak.I took out the new stuff. However, your definition of "ancient" is a little skewed. Enemy Territory? Warcraft III? Those are 5-6 years old.According to Xfire its goes:
3: CoD2
6: Wolfenstien : ET ( Ancient )
8: Warcraft 3: Throzen Throne
some pretty "ancient" games there by todays standarD :P

Oh, and FlyFF is a Korean game.

You buy a pretty nice car, but for the car buffs, decking it with some new bad ass stuff is a must. Unless you can buy a 500,000 dollar Ferrari, it should be great the way it is, but unfortunately, consoles will never go for the best of the best, there's much to improve upon. The PC has all the ammenities necessary to be fully sociable.VandalvideoExcept, of course, that none of my friends have one. Just because your friends don't have it does not mean you can't socialize on it.

So yes, the number of people any given person knows who game on (PC/XBL/PSN) has a direct impact on the value of that platform to them.

The PC has a huge community of "200 million people" -Microsoft. The PC has a huge network of people, so if you want to use network effects, its utility is far greater than consoles for providing a social atmosphere.

The difference is, PC gamers get the chance to push their hardware to the limit if they want to ( I certainly love overclocking and tinkering, it makes me learn lots of stuff), or they can just play the game on auto settings as fast as consoles. While console gamers have to play the games without freedom of modifying the software or hardware, and with swaping discs and intolerable load times and smaller levels due to the pathetic ram. It's the difference between passionate and casual, and guess who's the casual here? hamidiousLOL nobody denied that.Your ignorance=FAIL.

are you 12?
This is why I look down at console gamers, they're intimidated by PC gaming because it requires a little bit of knowledge and isn't just a mindless plug and play to go.
Maybe you've experienced this thing called life....once you get out into the real world one of the most obvious things you can see off the bat is that the finer things in life require more effort, if you want to drive a BMW instead of some beat up Geo you have to put in more effort, if you want a big house in a good location you also need to work more. In addition to this with the better house and car come the fact that you generally need more knowledge even for the most basic things sometimes as the better things in life are more complex.
So you can roll around in the mindless cesspool if you want, but I'll take the more complicated and rewarding gaming experiences that you can't find on consoles like Sins of a Solar Empire.

STOP MAKING FUN OF ME!!!!!!!!
I made a terrible mistake of building a gaming rig. Teh expensive essentials, teh upgrades, teh time consuming, teh common errors, teh PC exclusives also coming out for consoles, teh waiting for games that have been out on consoles for months before there PC release, teh hardly noticeable textures between console and PC games. Oh GOD what have I done? Somebody please take this $1500 burden away from me!!!!!!!!!!
*curls in ball a sucks thumb*
i put the disc in, do a quick install (my DVD drive rips through DVDs like a mad masket). i think check for patches while the game is installing. then i double click on the games icon on the desktop. quickly check the resolution and graphics settings and im off. i cant recall ever needing to mess with the control panel as the games settings do the job if i need to adjust them.
my PC is like a console in that regard.
fraps is only needed for benchmarking and making videos. u need specialist equipment to do the same thign for a console. so take that out TC, its pointless.
what u have described, TC, is someone whos hobby is not really gaming but having very powerful hardware and getting the best performance out of it. a game is just a very good benchmark for hardware since it pushes everything in a PC. thats not what PC gaming is about. thats the benchmarking and hardware enthuseiast hobby which is a pretty seperate thing.
and , hey, at least PC gamers have the option to fix performance or image problems. having a performance problem on a console? FPS going below 30 in places? game look a bit jaggy in places due to lack of AA? tough, ure stuck. theres nothing u can do about it. the hardware cant be improved and u cant adjust the games setting in any meaningful way.
