So where is the Walking Dead or Journey? Nope...its Mass Effect 3, Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2, and Assassin's Creed III. Reason: because they are complete games....the Walking Dead and Journey are not. Gamers want gameplay as well as the complete package, which those indie titles lack. And really, editors are overrating these games, Journey is a very short experience, its a Limbo or a Braid...it good for what it is but it does not have much value. The Walking Dead has very weak gameplay even for its genre. Its all about story while Journey is all about art. These are reaches for GOTY. Seriously, these games will be forgotten, especially when the Last of Us comes out in Walking Dead's case or the next biggest indie hit in Journey's case. Mass Effect 3 is easily the most complete game this year. Assassin's Creed III gets around its issues and also delivers a complete experience. Far Cry 3 is the best shooter of the year and a huge improvement over Far Cry 2. and Borderlands 2 has hands down the best gameplay this year. Editors jumped the gun here.....its only time to give indies GOTYs when they actually make a complete experience, not rely of gimmicks or a facet. But now, these games are more overrated than a overhyped AAA title. And as much as I call Skyrim, Red Dead Redmption, and Fallout 3 overrated, at least they are far more complete experiences than Journey or TWD.

I don't think AC3 should be considered. It wasn't that great. I agree with the other 3. They are fantastic. I'd say put Max Payne 3 there instead of AC3, though. Max Payne is a lot of fun to play and it just has some awesome writing that made the story for me.

I am shocked Borderlands 2 is losing....its been winning the most readers choice awards.....and its my second fave game. I think it has more replayabilty than Far Cry 3 as well.

Why do I take my frusteration out on TWD? Maybe because it has more to do with the fact that is NOT A COMPLETE GAME, and that its gameplay is below average for its GENRE. Because instead of trying to be the best it can be in all areas, it specializes and lets facets of the game be subpar. And its not just ME3, the other three games are all better, and I can EASILY make the case of Borderlands 2 being GOTY.
