a system like Crysis/ Halo: Combat Evolved where you have shields and then a regular health bar( well, in Crysis's case it regenerates extremely slowly)DivergeUnifyThis is the best health system because it makes sense. If I made a game, it would be a shield system like this that but with pick-ups instead of regeneration because it's actually logical (unless your suit is photosynthetic).
Exactly. Online games, or online matches at least, should only be healthpacks, and they should be rare, if exist at all. Single player experiences can benefit from regeneration as long as it doesn't make it too easy, since it saves the tedium of having to load over and over and what not, if its too easy to hide behind a boulder or something and just Regen to full, it is kind of cheap, but I think something like Crysis does it well.Depends on the game really.

Call of Duty one, kind of more realistic to me.haris12121212
Getting pumped full of bullets, running away, then coming back 10 seconds later fully recovered is realistic?

Yes... if you were a Chimeran.Pickups are the best if you ask me.
I hate this stupid regen system that Halo made. Its just so stupid really especially in COD series. In Crysis it made alot more sense and I accepted it a little more. But Overall the pick up system is the most challenging and the best:)

Not really. If it is a class based game with medics, then health bars are required. If it is a survival game, health supplies are good, and if its a realistic game, then no health bar or a regen works (Brothers in Arms Hells Highway did it really well with the supression until you get shot). Also regen works for arcady kind of games, like the latest CoDs.Depends on the game really.

My thoughts excactly Well what if they replaced it with being suppressed until you finally get shot? That would seem real. It would force you to take cover and throw your aim off, as it does now, just be more realistic as you can't take more than 1 bullet.Bring back health packs. Half-Life 2 had them, and it worked great in that.Cherokee_JackUnless I'm forgetting HL2 just had the health charge wall mounts right? Unless thats what you meant.

I liked the combination that was found in R:FoM... second would be regeneration like CoD, and R2 ( which actually had an explanation behind it, rather than just having it happen.)GodofBigMacssame

no at all health pack make you actually care when you are shoot regen just makes you hide for a bit really unrelisticI rekon fc2 has one of the best health systems, regen just makes the game really easy, fc2 has a nice use of sectional regen and gives the fell of actually healing when he pulls the bullets out. Health packs make you be much more careful, games have become easy since regen health has been in most games, wait a few secs all full again. imprezawrx500I just started playing FC2, but I think I'll agree with you here. The system is a good mix of regeneration, and non, and requires you to think on your feet. If it's not the best, it's certainly up there.
Resistance: Fall of Man had the perfect health system. I was sad to see it go in R@ along with the weapon system.
However, if the game is designed well enough, I don't mind either. Health packs feel "right" in Quke @. And regen in Reistance and Halo make sense because they give you a reason. Regen for normal human beings is stupid.
Offline or co-op I don't care, but for competitive online I prefer the regeneration system. Like Halo or CoD.
The game is much more fast-paced and exciting when you don't have to search for a health pack after every firefight. In team matches this is even more important because you can help your team push for the objective instead of trying to find a health pack so you don't die in one shot kinda thing.
Sure it may not be the most realistic thing, but I find it the most fun and balanced for competitive online.
