lemmings need to stop hiding behind the pc. can't your system stand on what seperates it from the rest of the competition?CaseyWegner
I really am disappointed with your statement. I never attacked a system once in my thread. You as a mod should have higher standards than anyone of us. I know your not a cow or a fanboy but that does not mean you should talk about the 360 that way. I asked the fans of the systems to keep it on the games even if on another platform. But since you like to do it that way.......................The day the 360 kept beating the PS3 in multiplats it proved itself as a justifiable purchase. The day it offered a nexgen expirience without haveing to pay $200 more it proved it was worth the money...........when it had games worth porting to PC it proved itself. When it wont E3 for 2 years streight in 05 and 06 it proved it was worth it. When it is respected and loved amongst the dev's, it earned it. The systems are not the problem. Im surprised you siad that. I really thought more of this place. pfft.

[QUOTE="akuma303x"]when comparing what each system offers as a whole for a gamer, you must include all expiriences possible on that platform including multiplats. ( especially when you cannot play them on a competitors system) MS does not see the PC as competition. Why does everyone else see it that way, I dont know. But it does not matter. IF you buy a 360, you can play gears of war. So when you compare list , Gears should be included. I just dont get how a system can have a game that doesnt count twords it's offerings.Vandalvideo
Why do people see the PC as competition. JEE I DON'T KNOW JAMES. Maybe it has something to do with it being a gaming platform, and having the same games? NO WAY, that CAN NOT BEEEEEE!? Rant aside, multiplats are usually not the real reason people buy systems. They buy them for their exclusive games. If one of your bases suddenly belong to us, then thats less incentive to buy a 360. Plain and simple.

Really, so is this why games like Oblivion, F.E.A.R., Call of Duty 2, 3 (and probably 4), Halo 1 & 2, RS: Vegas, etc have sold millions of copies on the 360 & PS3, but have only sold 100K's on the PC? All these games are multiplat and have sold much better on game consoles then on the PC. It's obvious that more gamers have PC's then game consoles. So why aren't more PC gamers buying these games on PC? Explain that one genius.

People don't just buy a game console for the exclusives alone. Exclusive do weigh into their decision, but also the price, the library of games and the support the system receives are included in their decision. I don't see the PC as competition at all. XBox 360 has over 15 titles that have sold over 1 million copies. Any of these titles that have graced the PC hasn't sold any where as many. So if anything, the Xbox 360 is taking sales away from the PC, not the other way around. If Call of Duty 4 was exlcusive to the PC don't you think more copies would sell on the PC? Because it's on the PS3 & XBox 360, sales of this game on the PC won't even be close to the game's sold on theconsoles.

Some of the people on here know nothing about the gaming market and where the real money is being made.

It has the best exclusive line up for the rest of the year, Halo 3, Mass effect, Ace combat 6, PGR4. Add in console exclusives like Bioshock which will sell far better on 360, recent price cuts, and it stands on its own just fine. Lemmings don't need the games, we have them, everyone else needs them this year.

[QUOTE="REVENGEotSITH"]Well, the last time I checked, Oblivion sold 1.94 million copies and it didn't seem to hurt it that it was also on the PC. Why would all of those people have bought it for the 360 if they could have bought the "superior" version on the PC??? Why??? Because the bulk of people who own a 360 don't have a gaming PC. I don't. It did hurt the 360, in some unquantifiable number. The people who bought it on the PC could have bought it on the console. Thus it hurt said console.

It works both ways pal. If the game wasn't on the Xbox 360 would more copies have sold on the PC? Touche'

That fact that more copies was sold on the XBox 360 means it hurt the PC more then the 360.

pc is the real gaming platform consoles are for little kids

Hmmm... Maybe some of us got sick and tired of having to read the side of the game box to see if we could even play the freakin' game. Ever think about that???

Something so trivial? I've never read a gamebox before. I just buy whatever PC game comes out and not worry about specs. If you even have a REMOTELY new PC, then it can play all modern games. Its like saying, ZOMG W WON't MUH GEARS RUN IN TEH XBOX ONE LAWL.

Well, the point is that you have to update your PC over time in order to run the most recent games that come out. To me, this was a pain in my a-- and a money pit. I got sick of having to "adjust sliders" in games in order to make them run smoothly. I got tired of it and am soooo much more happy with playing games on consoles. One system. All the games made for that system are optimized for that system. Everyone I play online has the same system and is on an even playing field. No going back to PC gaming for me - ever. You guys can have that headache...

You are right but that still doesn't discount the FACT that you can get certain games on the 360 that you can't on the PS3. So when you are in a discussion of PS3 v.s. 360 you can say well you can't play gears on PS3 so that is a plus for 360. You can't act like its not exsistant on the 360.

He is not saying that they dont exist on the 360, what he is sayingis that if Bioshock is the game that appeals most to you on the 360 and it comes out on the PC at the same time and you like most people have a PC and a decent one to play this game that is one less reason to buy that console. A multiplat is a multiplat. You cant act like the 360 is the only route to take to enjoy this game and thats why these games being touted as "console exclusive" is crap.

CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE is not crap is a fact of life. Consoles are not PCs, there for when you are comparing CONSOLES, and interested in getting a console NOT A PC. You compare games that you can get on CONSOLES. Gears of War can be played on how many CONSOLES??? One, which is? The 360. I end my case, CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE stand true.

LOL..people get consoles for what purpose, to play GAMES. So if a person has an electronic that can play the game they want and they dont have to dump 400 dollars down on a console then why would they. Gamers dont care about the word console or PC as much as they care about the word GAME. They will get any device that can play games and if they want a game and they have the device to play it, it doesnt make sense to buy a second device to play a game they can currently already play. What would presway a person to get a new device are exclusive games and features.

Hey if someone is looking into buying a CONSOLE(Which last time I checked is a Wii, PS3, Xbox360, not a PC.) You compare games to as which gaming console is better. Are you gonna sit there and say forget about gears, bioshock, etc because you can get it on the PC, so PS3 is better, go get the PS3?

You act like quantity matters at all? We're arguing fundamentals here. PC sales DO EFFECT console says in some form or fashion. As you illustrated, the caused a deficit of 100K game sales, maybe even less than that depending on who owns multiple copies, for the console. That right there = the PC had a tangible effect. You can sit here yapping about TEH NUMBARS all day, but when you get right down to the nitty gritty, PC SALES EFFECT CONSOLE SALES.

Last time I checked, I thought it was the COWS who were hiding behind the PC and not the Lemmings...

you haven't seen lemmings saying that it doesn't matter if a 360 games goes to the pc or is there'sa 360/pc multiplat because they're both getting money for microsoft? there are people in this very thread who are saying that.

Agreed. There's no "golden console" that is going to last you 'til the end of time. Eventually, you are going to have to upgrade to play the newest games. I just find that the set architecture in consoles fits my liking 50x more than PC gaming ever did. I do miss messing around with Modding software and building my own levels, but I don't have time to be doing that stuff anyways, so no real loss.

Not the games sales, the consoles sales.

If the gamer is only interested in FPS games, then yes, it would probably hurt the XBox 360 hardware sales slightly. But most gamers I know don't just play FPS only. Obviously these games are selling more on the game console, then on the PC, so more people are buying the Xbox 360 to play these games. Go and look at the number of copies of Halo, Halo 2, Call of Duty 1, 2, & 3, etc sold on the PC and how many were sold on the game consoles.

And I don't have the time to sit around for 3 weeks waiting for my faulty console to get back. WIth a PC, I can troubleshoot the problem and have it running in a matter of minutes.

I asked them to include games when making threads about what each offer as a gaming machine. never did I say the PS3 or PC suck . I infact never said anything bad about the systems. I thought a mod was a manticore. I actually thought you could keep it on the games. Bid time disappointment. Look casey most of the time I enjoy your post. I really thought that one was in ill taste. Im going to work now guys. Thanks for the input. I'll consider all your idea's and points. Everyone enjoy your day. later guys.

it sold a total of 3 million and that is pc and 360 combined. do you have a link wher you can show how much the 360 version alone sold

http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=636

so out of total of 3 million (till the begining of this month), as 360 has 2 million, ==> pc has 33% of the sales. thats not a small amount and considering how many pc gamers (including myself) hated that game, you can see the impact of pc sales

No you look at the games you want that you dont have a system to play it. If I want to play Bioshock and MGS4, Rachet and Clank and Heavenly sword and I have a decent PC guess which system I am gonna pick. Its all about preference I am not saying any console is better because thats an opinion, but overall a game you can already play without the 400 dollar purchase of a console is not gonna be a factor in the purchase of a new gaming machine. What will be a factor are the games and features you dont have and you want to play.

[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]it can be done right if the point is to show that those games can be played without needinga 360.CaseyWegner

The problem with your theory is that there are games on the 360 that will never be on the PC. So gamers still will need to buy a XBox 360. Hermits make it seem that every XBox 360 game will be on the PC. Nope, not even close. The only 360 games even going to the PC from the 360 are FPS. I have yet to see a racing, 3D platform, Fighting or Air Combat game more from the 360 to the PC. Many of the FPS shooters going to the PC are being released 6-12 months after they've been on the Xbox 360.

there's no problem with my theory at all. when you're looking at a list of the 360 games, you can still decide if the exclusives are enough to make you want it.

You theory is flawed because there are exclusives on the XBox 360 that will never be on the PC. Many of these exclusives people will buy the XBox 360 to play. So yes, your theory is flawed, whether you want to believe it or not.

You can sit here yapping about TEH NUMBARS all day, but when you get right down to the nitty gritty, PC SALES EFFECT CONSOLE SALES.

Let's use Bioshock as a example.

It's only a 100k deficit to Xbox 360 if those PC gamers would have gone out and bought a Xbox 360 to play Bioshock if it wasn't available on PC. Most PC gamers would not go out and buy a 360 to play Bioshock, so the deficit is not 100k. I wish some hermits here could admit that Bioshock being only available on Xbox 360 and no other console was a good thing for Microsoft. It seems the thought of having to share a game like Bioshock with console gamers makes them digg there heels in and start spewing nonsence.

Bioshock was a Xbox 360 game first, it was made by 2K Boston the lead team, the PC version was made by 2K Australia. Hermits need to admit that having a console exclusive like Bioshock matters, and you can spin it as much as you like and say stuff like it's multiplatform, but at the end of the day most people will buy it on 360, a lot of hermits don't have a rig to run this game at decent settings, therefore it may as well be 360 exclusive as the PC numbers are but a drop in the ocean.

Its so annoying when lemmings say Console exclusive or Microsoft Exclusive. PC is a valid gaming platform and if a game (Bioshock for example) is on 360 and PC ITS MULTIPLAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Deal with it lemmings its on 2 systems.

Right..... This would explain why PC software sales have drop steadily ever since game consoles made an appearance. PC is the alternative gaming platform for people who want to take a break from console gaming.

[QUOTE="akuma303x"][QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]lemmings need to stop hiding behind the pc. can't your system stand on what seperates it from the rest of the competition?akuma303x

I really thought more of this place. pfft.

wait. wait. wait. why is it okay to direct this logic at cows but totally not okay when it's turned around towards lemmings?

I asked them to include games when making threads about what each offer as a gaming machine. never did I say the PS3 or PC suck . I infact never said anything bad about the systems. I thought a mod was a manticore. I actually thought you could keep it on the games. Bid time disappointment. Look casey most of the time I enjoy your post. I really thought that one was in ill taste. Im going to work now guys. Thanks for the input. I'll consider all your idea's and points. Everyone enjoy your day. later guys.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with what i said. arguments have to work both ways in order for them to be valid. if cows can't use the existence of the pc to bolster their arguments, why is it okay for lemmings to act like it doesn't matter if they share games with the pc? when did i ever bash anything?

Lmao!! Ofcourse some games are 360 exclusives wer as others are shared between 360 and PC making them multiplat.

Thats why I said, "or fewer". I already acknowledged that it is an unquantifiable ammount to how much the PC affects the consoles, but the fact of the matter is PC SALES EFFECT CONSOLE SALES. Period.

[QUOTE="Javy03"][QUOTE="REVENGEotSITH"]

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="REVENGEotSITH"]Well, the last time I checked, Oblivion sold 1.94 million copies and it didn't seem to hurt it that it was also on the PC. Why would all of those people have bought it for the 360 if they could have bought the "superior" version on the PC??? Why??? Because the bulk of people who own a 360 don't have a gaming PC. I don't. And I'd venture to say that the same holds for people who own a PS3.blackace

It did hurt the 360, in some unquantifiable number. The people who bought it on the PC could have bought it on the console. Thus it hurt said console.

This is true. Undefineable, but true. However, when a game sells almost 2 million copies, I don't go as far as say anything "hurt" its sales...

Ok but those people didnt buy it for the 360 or possibly bought a Xbox or 360 so it still hurt. And as for games outside of FPS. Other consoles offer that, you make it sound like the 360 is the only console that has solid games outside of FPS. The PS3 has solid racing, hack n slash, platforming, etc.. games as well. A gamer doesnt have to get a 360 to support their gaming lust the PC wont offer, they can get a PS3 or even a Wii. It all depends on the preference of the gamers.

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="blackace"]Really, so is this why games like Oblivion, F.E.A.R., Call of Duty 2, 3 (and probably 4), Halo 1 & 2, RS: Vegas, etc have sold millions of copies on the 360 & PS3, but have only sold 100K's on the PC? All these games are multiplat and have sold much better on game consoles then on the PC. It's obvious that more gamers have PC's then game consoles. So why aren't more PC gamers buying these games on PC? Explain that one genius. :roll:NickyJo

The same goes for the PS3 and Wii. The point is alot of the 360s heavy hitters are known to show up on the PC while the PS3 and Wii tend to hold onto their games. It all comes down to what games a gamer wants, nobody has to buy a 360 for its exclusive if after they buy 360 games on the PC they find whats left over to be less then purchase worthy.

Perfect example of skewed fanboy speak. This dude has 2 calendars - one for the 360 and one for the PS3. For the 360, its been 21 months, but somehow this gets rounded up to 2 years. PCs arenot dependant on games to sell, they sell because they have a million other uses. The 360 only sells because its a gaming rig. So when its big hyped games go to PC it is one less reason to get a 360.

Not really, I don't think many PC owners can be bothered to upgrade their rigs to play one game like Bioshock, so they won't buy it on any platform.Do you think it's just chance that MS are dropping the price of 360 in the UK the day Bioshock lands?, of course not, they know it will shift systems. High end PC's and Xbox 360 are two different markets, multi platformgames like Bioshock that only work on high end PC's do not really affect Xbox 360 sales. I'm sure Casey will try and point out that 360 has lost something and lemmings are hiding, but I no longer care what he says, as a mod he should take a back seat and stop enforcing his PC biased views on lemmings who don't care.

They have huge impact. Many games probably would not even be made if they weren't able to sell them on both systems.

And that doesn't even start on the design choices developers have to make in order to make a game viable on both systems.

No actually the 5.5 shipped is five months because those numbers are given to us from SOny from lauch till march..thats five months. And the 11 million or 11.6 million are for the numbers MS gave us for shipped from launch until June..thats one year and 7 months so I am sorry for the five months error if it really bothers you that much, the point was both have not sold a huge amount and neither have proved to the majority of gamers that either are worth upgrading too in large numbers.

But of course you just focused on the negative 360 remark and call people fanboys....I laugh at selective reading.
