The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past vs Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater vs Halo 3

Oh damn, two of my fav games ever made..............I need to vote for ALTTP though sadly but MGS3 was close.

ALTTP. I absolutely love MGS3, but it can't touch the greatness of ALTTP.

Halo 3 is my favorite Halo game, but in my opinion, it pales in comparison to both of these other games.

Tough call. I'm going to have to think on this one. Gut says go to A Link to the Past, but it isn't my favorite Zelda nor did it resonate with me like it did so many others. And I adore the franchise.

ALTTP over Halo 3. I find these two games completely incomparable though. As in, they cannot be compared. Not that nothing comes close to them.

Link to the Past and Halo 3 are both far better games.

All three are stellar games, but honestly MGS3 and Halo 3 are so far below LttP that it's a laughable comparison. LttP is probably one of the top three greatest games of all time.

I can't bring myself to care about Link to the Past. Compared to the iterations that came after it, it's really not that interesting of an experience anymore.

So I'm going to go with one of the most entertaining packages in video game history: MGS3.

A Link to the Past has my vote. It's one of the very elite few games that's managed to stay completely and fully relevant and enjoyable for decades. Super Metroid may be the only other game I'd consider on that kind of level. These games are timeless examples of brilliant and forward thinking game design.

Such an easy answer. Zelda is easily the best series(or at least my favorite) in this poll. There are very few Zelda games I wouldn't vote for over those but Link to the Past is a huge blow out.

Wasn't Snake Eater exclusive upon release?

EDIT: It was an exclusive, it only ever got ported to other platforms after the PS2 was dead and buried. How does that make it a multiplat? If Snake Eater is a multiplat, then so are Halo 3 (which got ported to Xbox One) and A Link to the Past (which is available on the GBA, Wii, and Wii U now, in addition to the SNES original).

Aside from that, my vote goes to Snake Eater despite being a ginormous Zelda fan alongside MGS. ALttP is great, but it didn't grab me like other games in its franchise did, such as Majora's Mask. I'm not one to come back to a game unless I just frickin' love it, and I've played through Snake Eater (mostly Subsistence) many more times than I have ALttP. Boss is the man.

The only reason Snake Eater is here is because of its story and cool action moments. Let's be real here, it's not amazing as an actual game. It always had clumsy controls and the survival systems were simply half-baked. It has aged very poorly over the years.

Although MGS and Half Life are up there, Halo is no doubt my favorite series. Zelda's great and all but I didn't grow up bound to Nintendo and the series as so many others did

I don't quite know what the implication of this post is, but my stance on exclusivity hasn't exactly ever changed. I'm the guy who argues that Persona is a PS4 exclusive, Smash 4 a Wii U exclusive, and Forza Horizon 2 an Xbox One exclusive. It's been pretty consistent, and I am sure if I'd run into some dumb asinine comment about Halo losing 360 exclusivity, I'd have called whoever made it out too. Especially since like, not even three months ago, when someone was asking about good Xbox 360 exclusives in the SW Lounge, I went ahead and listed all Halo games as exclusives.

Man that's a tough choice. Whenever I think about a perfect game, LttP is the only one that comes to mind.

I spent countless hours though playing Halo 3 custom/forge games. It's probably my fondest memory playing video games.

Relax dude, I have no personal stake in the games. If you read the credits, I am not listed in any of them. They tickle my sci fi fancy the most is all. I personally cant any form of typical JRPG (not Souls) with a guy with spiky hair or sword that there is no way his skinny arms could lift, the females all have big doe eyes but a dot for a mouth and the combat is some form of turn based sleeping pill.

Is just a hobby, not personal.

ALTTP had great game design in most ways, with a lot of depth to its levels, puzzles, and bosses, and with tight controls, pacing and exploration. But the combat system lacked the depth of other 16-bit games like Mana and Oasis, and the world wasn't as big or open-ended as Secret of Mana.

MGS3 also had great game design in most ways, with a lot of depth to its stealth and combat mechanics, and the bosses and environments, and with tight pacing. But its controls felt clunky and unnecessarily convoluted, and its slow-loading menu interface was annoying. Nevertheless, it made up for it with a very good story and well-written script.

It's a pretty close one, with both being just as great in the gameplay department. But MGS3 gets the edge because it has a very good well-written story to go along with it. So Imma go with MGS3.

Nintendo wins again.
