It did not ruin the game at all. I kind of thought that, but after playing it, it's amazing, and the train does not seem farfetched at all. You would know that if you played it.
how does a game who's only flaw is "not too challenging" only get an 8.5? especially considering the fact that it doesn't say something like "way too easy" or something, just a small "not too challenging" but anyways, good score

TEH BIAS, NINTENDO HATERS Seriously, though, I'm surprised it isn't AAA. I was one of the few that wasn't all pessimistic and expecting AA, so I guess I'm owned.

The written review itself made it sound like it would get a 9, with almost no negatives and saying it is better the PH. But i gyess because graphics are the same as ph and it having the same formula it won't get AAA. Still cant wait to pick it up
well it's true though. It's impossible tfor it to get anywere between 8.5 and 9.0 TP would have been 9.0 on this scale. or it could've gotten 8.5. Y'know due to the lack of editors choice and all that.
I love how the video review says Spirit Tracks is superior to Phantom Hourglass, but then it gets a lower score. Oh, Gamespot :roll:
Still a great score and a good reason to break out the DS, nonetheless.

Sweet. Loved PH to death, and I'd get this one in a heartbeat...too bad I gave away my DS to my cousin (hey, she's a kid, I already got a PSP, and she really wanted one...not the type I'd tell to get a job at 11 years old :P).

Yeah. I had my doubts at first, but I was sold when they released that trailer with Zelda in the armor. It's hilarious, and opens up great possibilities for puzzles.
How is not too challenging the only minus if the game got an 8.5? Seriously PH had that as well, plus the whole ocean king temple (which I actually enjoyed but many hated) and still got a 9.0? Oh well 8.5 is great score anyway, first day purchase for me, comes out tomorrow in AUS :).

Assassin's Creed II was a clearly better game than Assassin's Creed... yet scored the same. Halo 2 on the PC was called the "definitive version" yet scored 7.0 to the Xbox version's 9.4.
This is one reason why comparing scores between platforms, genres, and games in the same series is meaningless, which in turn makes scores meaningless.
8.5 is a good score but after watching the review he made it sound like 9.0. There weren't enough negative aspects of the game for it to be lowered, and also he said it was better than Phantom Hourglass. It's an exellent game, not just ' great'!

He did say that it was better then PH in the review. But again, the formula seems to remain the same and the graphics haven't really improved (not that it's a bad thing, review says).Play the game and decide for yourself I guess, I can't wait to get my copy.
The review seems to be really positive for an 8.5 game. Great score, but the score really doesn't fit the review. Maybe the review came out too late into GS's Best of 09 discussions and they can't give it a 9.0 due to the fact they aren't going to nominate it for anything?
I still don't get how a game with only "Not too challenging" as a con only manage to get a 8.5 score, surely there must be something else that the reviewer didn't like or find a displeasure while playing this game before reviewing it? Anyway innovative boss fight is almost a given for a Zelda game, but the thing that I am really glad to hear with this title is the well-designed dungeons and the lenghty adventure fill with sidequests to complete.

Why do people think that? Reviews wouldn't have just said Oh well normally I would have strategically given it an 8.8.. but I cant do that now, so Ill give it a 9. Theres no way do tell what a reviewer would have scored it given a completely different scale.

I hate both systems. They rely far too much on scores. Scores don't tell us gamers anything about what the game contains, how well it works within the context of the series/genre/platform, how well it performs on the hardware or really how "good" the game actually is... since ultimately, "goodness" comes down to personal opinion anyways.
I just wish they'd drop the scores and tell us how much they liked/disliked the game and what is in the game. Avoiding all the "objective" bull****.
