Better than expected, so much for the trains ruining the game.
Lionheart08
It did not ruin the game at all. I kind of thought that, but after playing it, it's amazing, and the train does not seem farfetched at all. You would know that if you played it.
in b4 "hurr durr flop nintendo sux derp"
anyway it still sounds way better than PH despite scoring lower.
I love how the video review says Spirit Tracks is superior to Phantom Hourglass, but then it gets a lower score. Oh, Gamespot
Still a great score and a good reason to break out the DS, nonetheless.

That's why I said "So Much for it ruining it." That's my way of mocking those who said the trains was a stupid idea. :|
they were both graded on a different scale.Ouch! A little worse than Twilight Princess. Hopefully I enjoy it better.

Sweet. Loved PH to death, and I'd get this one in a heartbeat...too bad I gave away my DS to my cousin (hey, she's a kid, I already got a PSP, and she really wanted one...not the type I'd tell to get a job at 11 years old :P).I love how the video review says Spirit Tracks is superior to Phantom Hourglass, but then it gets a lower score. Whats with that review?"Cons: Not TOO chalenging"
i wouldn't want a game that is too challenging, if it's too challenging i'd want to give up.Nibroc420
I take it you're joking.

If you would have bothered to have read either review, you would haven noticed that they were each reviewed by different people.

Yeah. I had my doubts at first, but I was sold when they released that trailer with Zelda in the armor. It's hilarious, and opens up great possibilities for puzzles.

Whatever. Reviewers don't exist. The website itself just reviews games.in b4 "hurr durr flop nintendo sux derp"

For some reason I always lol when you say that :P
Also i agree with you.
anyways every Zelda since wind waker has been easy as hell so this not being too challenging is no surprise.
I'm just hoping it's atleast somewhat harder than phantom hourglass.
Times have changed since PH came out. Do you think PDZ would still score a 9.0 if it came out now?I love how the video review says Spirit Tracks is superior to Phantom Hourglass, but then it gets a lower score. Oh, Gamespot

How is not too challenging the only minus if the game got an 8.5? Seriously PH had that as well, plus the whole ocean king temple (which I actually enjoyed but many hated) and still got a 9.0? Oh well 8.5 is great score anyway, first day purchase for me, comes out tomorrow in AUS :).

The Bad section does not contain every criticism the reviewer had of the game. You can't condense all that into some bullet points.
Also, what was the official hype? Did it succeed, or flop?nintendoboy16
flop, the hype was AAA

It seemed like the hype was AA. I'll look for a hype thread.
Nope. AAA.

8.5 is a good score but after watching the review he made it sound like 9.0. There weren't enough negative aspects of the game for it to be lowered, and also he said it was better than Phantom Hourglass. It's an exellent game, not just ' great'!brandontwbHe did say that it was better then PH in the review. But again, the formula seems to remain the same and the graphics haven't really improved (not that it's a bad thing, review says).Play the game and decide for yourself I guess, I can't wait to get my copy.

No. Kevin-V said himself that it doesn't work that way.
Quite frankly, I preferred the old system. By alot. The review seems to be really positive for an 8.5 game. Great score, but the score really doesn't fit the review. Maybe the review came out too late into GS's Best of 09 discussions and they can't give it a 9.0 due to the fact they aren't going to nominate it for anything?
I still don't get how a game with only "Not too challenging" as a con only manage to get a 8.5 score, surely there must be something else that the reviewer didn't like or find a displeasure while playing this game before reviewing it? Anyway innovative boss fight is almost a given for a Zelda game, but the thing that I am really glad to hear with this title is the well-designed dungeons and the lenghty adventure fill with sidequests to complete.
Uh-oh! review paradox that will rip System Wars logic apart!
Fact: Phantom Hourglass is a AAA qualitygame.
Fact: Spirit Tracks is a superb game which is better than Phantom Hourglass.
Therefore, simple logic leads us to conclude that Spirit Tracks is a AAA quality game.
BUT WAIT THATS WRONG. Spirit Tracks is a AA quality game! How can a AA quality game have a higher quality than a AAA quality game. ITS IMPOSSIBLE.
[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"][QUOTE="Dudecough"]well it's true though. It's impossible tfor it to get anywere between 8.5 and 9.0 TP would have been 9.0 on this scale.lol

Why do people think that? Reviews wouldn't have just said Oh well normally I would have strategically given it an 8.8.. but I cant do that now, so Ill give it a 9. Theres no way do tell what a reviewer would have scored it given a completely different scale.
