I think it got locked, no idea why. They should have left as a warning to the general public about underhanded and near illegal business practice.orangeonxboxBecause you'd rather support a company that actually engages in illegal business practices such as monopoly, utterly false advertising (Linux TCO 5x more than Windows..based upon Linux Mainframe and Windows PC), extortion, ect? Real smart. Granted Sony has done some stupid and dirty crap but nobody can top Microsoft's laundry list of scum.
Why couldn't you of just bumped the old thread?rpg9000ownerIt was locked for being a fanboys war thread (which mods have clearly come out against) and by all rights it shouldn't be remade, aside from the methodology issues we cows are typically nice enough to not do such a laundry list, Lemmings would be hurting hard.
Not when its fried and takes a month and $100+ to get a refurbished unit shipped to you. [QUOTE="Microsoft1234"] i clicked on a link at this forum and found there are like 100s of videos saying ps3 is hte best and the wii and 360 aren't .... can't find the same for the 360 and wii as much but still dont stereotype I've found many videos of just that sort in this forum all fanboys put out those sort of videos. You know I CAN STEREOTYPE because Lemming posts typically come down to the same basic things. 1) teh cell! 2) $599 US Dollars 3) PS3 sucks Now if you'll excuse me I bought a Sega Saturn today and I'de like to go play it, because nobody will agree how flawed the methodology here is.But it sure plays more and superior games than the PS3 ever will !!!
turgore
that timeline looks very awful, but then again, if you compliled one for the 360 or wii, there would be some bad things. still, the ps3's had the most bad news, it seems.paullywogUgh....to tell you the truth I was happier as a gamer when I was completely oblivious to everything bad everyone did. I know all this now though, and there's no use in pretending it isn't happening......for all three of the the companies, who all screw over their fanbases and probably try to start monopolies and false advertising all the time. The thing is Sony gets caught more often, but it doesn't mean anything when we all already know they all try or already do those things.

You are aware that the Neo Geo has some of the best fighters and SHMUPs of all time? Thats really kind of a compliment to the system. Also I've found all sorts of contradictions and hypocrisies in the timeline. If Microsoft's activities regarding their illegal monopoly of the OS market can't be used as "ownage" here I fail to see how some of the stuff there can. While we're at it, why do so many contradict each other?Â
For instance:
Â
Jan 29, 2007 - Sony Corp. may report third-quarter profit fell 50 percent after its flagship PlayStation 3 lost market share to Nintendo's Wii.
Jan 30, 2007 - Sony blamed the launching costs of its PlayStation 3 game console for much of the 5 percent drop in group net profit for the last three months of 2006
Â
"and why are some that are by any reasonable measure good news show up on there?"
Sony loseing money is good news to you?
Â
Jan 29, 2007 - Sony calls on Ken to save PS3 (which is actually about the forming of Cellius to make PS3 exclusive titles)
yeh and we all know how well the ps3 is keeping its exclusives!
Â
Also I fail to see how this for instance:
Â
Jan 10, 2007 - Senior VP of Marketing Peter Dille: Every Sunday in the paper, there's a new deal with a free controller or a free game or $100 off all discounting the 360. I don't think you take those measures if you're selling as expected. (see Jan 13, 2007 entry)
Â
is made any less true relevant by the January 13th entry...especially considering EB Games does similar promotionals for many systems such as Xbox->360 and DS->DS Lite.
you must have failed to read the other posts because one of them is a link where Sony says that M$ must be desperate to sell 360's buy having a promotion like that... then goes and does the exact same thing
Â
October 20th, 2006 - Announced that Sony may have to replace your PS3 controller for you after it no longer holds charge
Â
How the **** is that bad news? Instead you could spend $70 for a 360 controller and rechargable battery pack or even more of batteries I suppose..
the point is that Sony batteries #### I'm surprised there not explodingRunningflame570
Â
it seems you just go around threads reading posts and desperately try to bash lemmings and sheep why don't you try to find faults in the 100 other links about Sony?..... Oh wait that's because you can't! You /fail

It's ugly and sticks out of my console... (But does 802.11A video streaming which PS3/Wii does not)
The other system does this out of the box... (PS3 controller lacks rumble and out of the box has no HDMI/Headset, wii remote uses AA batteries also)
For some reason, you can't put the console in a small space... (You can't put any electronic devices in confined spaces unless you want to break them.)

What about these: the OP avoided including any good news (yes, there's a lot and important ones) and the fact that the PS3 already sold around 1/3 what the 360 sold worldwide. That's 9.86 million 360s, that's a year and half on the market, with 1 year alone without competition and AAAs games since launch; agains 3.07 millions PS3s, facing competition, only 5 months on the market and no exclusive AAAs on launch. Just imagine how it will sell when those exclusive AAAs come out. It leads to the assumption that, now that the 360 is sharing the market with other 2 consoles, it can't sell like it used to, and it didn't even sell all that fast if you consider those numbers. So there's a high, pretty high chance of it losing it's first place and proudly taking the third one.

Calling me names and accusing me of things doesn't get you anywhere in any legitimate debate over any issue, unless its politics..and this certainly isn't.
Also I do realize Bill Gates has "donated" more money than anybody else in the world, I also realize that roughly 95% of their foundation's endowment goes into investments, of which about half is in companies that promote the very problems they claim to want to solve. That 5% coincidentally enough is just about enough money to cover income taxes.
Most of the links are either taken out of context, by analysts, business as usual (you'll likely find it at any business), or utterly contradictory of other links. The list needs to be cleaned up tons before it can be a valid complaint about Sony's conduct which I will admitt has been far from admirable.
Last time I checked Microsoft was the one running a 3.4 billion dollar viral marketing campaign, not Sony. Sony just gets caught more often as the attention is more focused on them and while we're at it, yes I do have a job.
My deep rooted hate for Microsoft is multi-faceted. Their failure to adhere to basic computing standards, their inherently insecure operating systems, and their monopolistic and innovation destroying activities. In addition, their utter disregard for other software developers (they've been convicted of software piracy), their disturbing influence upon government, and their near-criminal (and in some cases criminal) activities towards open-source which is certainly better than anything they've ever done.
Thats not all the grievances I have towards them either. IBM of the seventies and eighties was better than they are and thats saying something.
Its important to note that $600 in 1991 was far more than $600 in 2006 and 2007. While we're at it, in real dollars the software prices were around $300-350 per title (est.) and it still sold well enough to warrant a number of additional videogame systems. And failed in consumer sales due to high hardware and software prices.

I think Sony has an over 75% chance of ending up like Sega after this console war and Sega never screwed up like that. Sony are complete idiots over there and need to get their heads out of their a$$e$.BigB10123i doubt it, look how well the PS3 is selling (in perspective). even with this friggin train of bad press. any company can end up like sega, but atm, sony has too big of a following to die out this gen.

Do you believe someone has to have perfect grammar to participate in a discussion or let alone be intelligent? Â
Wow you must type fast  I find it hilarious that you would come to system wars to find a "legitimate debate". Do you even own a console? It seems that your passionate hate for Microsoft is some how fueling your need to post on this board.
I am aware that almost ALL companies are greedy DUH that's commen sense. There just trying to make money for the share holders. Â
And Windows is a perfectly fine OS, also Microsoft's list of faults isn't that bad and Sony is much worse of a company and has horribly low standers (selling refurbished TV's as "new" anyone?).
So what is it like writing all that on a DOS or Linux computer? Or are you a Mac guy?

And Sony is any better? Seriously who is paying you?
Also I would like to see the link to bill gate's organizations only being self beneficial or I wont believe you!
Yes Sony is better, their console is more expensive but they don't charge you to use P2P servers for online play and they don't charge the exorbitant prices for add-ons that Microsoft does..especially considering all the complaints some have leveled against the Xbox Live Headset for instance and that some such as the charge and play should have been included to begin with. And Sony is any better? Seriously who is paying you?

You also make it seem like I want Sony to monopolize the market, that I certainly don't and it looks like certain choices have made that entirely out of the question for them. However, I do want them to win based upon my objections towards Microsoft and my objections towards the direction Nintendo wants to take videogames.
