Yes Sony is better, their console is more expensive but they don't charge you to use P2P servers for online play and they don't charge the exorbitant prices for add-ons that Microsoft does..especially considering all the complaints some have leveled against the Xbox Live Headset for instance and that some such as the charge and play should have been included to begin with.

You also make it seem like I want Sony to monopolize the market, that I certainly don't and it looks like certain choices have made that entirely out of the question for them. However, I do want them to win based upon my objections towards Microsoft and my objections towards the direction Nintendo wants to take videogames.

So you honestly think that PSN would be free even if they had a monopol on the market?? Are you paid or something? SONY would destroy the wallets of ever single gamer, casual and hardcore alike if they could monopolise. Every corporation would do that, why defend SONY?

No, but I think PSN would be a better value for the money if they were to keep dedicated servers. Yes, I'm paid by Hastings Entertainment based in Amarillo, Texas. Any monopoly is harmful to gamers and that included the NES which had some of the worst tripe I've ever played and that includes Vivendi's Spyro offerings and Excalibur 2055AD. Hydlide was worse than anything else I've ever played. You seem to be missing my point as well, Microsoft HAS monopolized and I've seen the effects of that, after all..don't we all love expensive, insecure, barely customizable software? Myself, I sure as heck don't..thats why I'm on Firefox right now and why when I get my computer I"m going to be running Ubuntu or SUSE (haven't decided just yet). For the last bit, why defend Sony? Because they've garnered more criticism than they actually deserve though they certainly deserve a good and Microsoft has done absolutely nothing original with either software or hardware development. Anything they did Sega did first and in some cases, better. That and the fact they are actively promoting open-source software on PS3.

XBLA is worth it and there’s nothing wrong with windows! I’m using fire fox right now on an XP computer, all computer software is expensive COMMON its 500 bucks for macromedia flash. Sony does deserve all the criticism they are getting and they are in no way shape or form less greedy than M$ not only do they have awful quality control they LIE 70% of the time ... oh buy the way SUSE is awful

Xbox Live Arcade has an equivalent on a Sony system and you don't need to pay $50 yearly for online play, leaving you enough to buy another game or subscribe to two magazines for a year. Flash is certainly expensive as well, but that is a professional grade content creation tool which so far as I know has no open-source equivalent (correct me if I'm wrong). Windows not only has open-source equivalents, it has BETTER open-source equivalents. Sony has better quality control this generation than Microsoft does while we're at it.

Nope, not unless necessary (right now its necessary to use Windows, however I'm getting the first of the computer components I ordered today and so it shouldn't be too much longer until its no longer necessary. Regarding Office in particular, I use OpenOffice and before that I used Star Office (pretty much the same thing really). They are both more fully-featured that Microsoft Office and cost nothing and very little respectively.

You cannot compare a closed source servers (XBL) to an open source servers (PSN) you obviously do not own a 360 or XBL and have a major bias to all things Microsoft or you would know that XBL was a top notch serves and worth the 4-5 bucks a month (common ppl pay 3x's that on MMORPG's) you might as well compare XBL to PC servers....... OH WAIT you have to pay for those too. Oh and just for the record XBL = the serves it’s self, XBLA= the DL games (at fair prices I might add SotN is only 10 bucks which is ¼ of the price of what the game would cost you on the PS1)

Why exactly can't I? Apache is open-source and it is often compared to IIS which is closed-source. XFire has everything Xbox Live does or close enough and its free last time I checked. For the record, I'm well aware of what XBLA is. The pay is good enough for me at this point (certainly better than most larger retailers) and its a great work environment, if it paid a little bit better I might not mind working there indefinitely but I do want a pretty high standard of living and so it is a temp for me. Also I don't work at the Amarillo location. Pretty much I'm getting paid $3 less per hour than when I worked for DADS as an intern, but I prefer it to that job.

I’m sorry that you have been so misinformed (have you even ever tried XBL?). Can xfire send pictures and voice Msg’s within seconds to every one on your friends list? How about video chat? Does it even support VoIP? Music downloads? High Def Movie and T.V. downloads? Free Trailers? Free Demos? Downloadable Games? Downloadable game content that can expand a game? The ability to flawlessly run a server without any lag? Does xfire have dedicated servers? Can xfire prevent hackers? Can xfire let you talk to 4 of your friends using a head set well playing Uno, Worms, or Poker? Xfire is a bare-bones program that cannot be compared to XBL (xfire doesn’t even let you run a server on most of the games it supports without paying a fee for that specific game). Don’t even get me started on you comparing Apache and IIS to XBL and PSN… do you even own a console???
