How big of a loss, do you believe that selling rare to Xbox is to Nintendo, especially with games such as Kameo, Perfect Dark, Conker and Banjo Kazooie being released on the Xbox and the 360?

Havent Rare lost Rare if you know what i mean? I thought it wasnt really the same guys anymore.

Kameo looked much better when being designed for ninty but what did we get? boxing glove wearing cati???

With the exception of conker all rare games would've been better on nintendo consoles. As they're previous titles show.

The only loss Nintendo are suffering is not having their games on the VC and that should tell you something...

If Rare stayed with Nintendo, people's comments would be very different.  Rare is Rare, Microsoft-owned or Nintendo-owned.

The only really great game Rare has made since they were sold to Microsoft is Viva Pinata.  I think that because Perfect Dark and Kameo were originally created with another console in mind that they didn't make full use of the 360.  I also think that we'll see much better games from Rare in the future that were developed for the 360 from the ground up, such as Banjo.

Rare isn't as good as they used to be(reason Nintendo didn't care about them anymore should proov something) Nintendo didn't even make a bid at there most important 2nd party is proove in itself there not the same. the only thing nintendo lost is the rights to some of those games but it's not the same rare , how do i know this? i'm not running to buy there new games and i was a huge rare fan. one of my top 10 favorite games of all time Jet Force Gemini. Nintendo Instills a quality from it's devs and seems MS isn't worried about the gameplay Elements more than the Graphics elemts(just look how much Lemming care about GFX)so they need games with good Graphics so they can maintain that quality.

There games are good not but they used to be Amazing ,near Perfect ,remarkable etc etc. Sure they can make a good game but there not worth all that money just to make good games, MS doesn't care they just want the name "Rare" makes people think there still the same etc etc.

I think we can tell how much Nintendo really helped Rare by the quality of titles we see with a Nintendoless Rare...big difference...and yeah most of the guys who were around when Rare was with Nintendo are gone...not really the same company anymore!

Nintendo was running Rare into the ground, and Rare fans were lucky MS picked it up since they really have a lassie fair approach when it comes to developers.  It almost seemed like the buyout was too late to save Rare, but once the 360 was released Rare came out with 3 pretty good titles the first year leaving hope that the developer finally has gotten it's act together.

i dunno only people hyped to play Rare games are Lemming, what i mean is there not making Epic games to bring other new players in , like me i'm not eager to buy a 360 and i love rare to death but the Quality and polish isn't there. these are good games for current owner but do nothing to bring in new people(wich is important to the success of a console)a company like Epic that OMG got me so close to buying a 360 is way more important dev than Rare nowadays but back in the day Rare used to make games like Gears quality, seems now they just make "Pretty Good" games wih is differant from the amazing,Ambituous,Astounishing ,Perfect games they used to make. I'll give Rare 2 to 4 more years if they can't do anything by then i see MS letting them go.

Thats your opinion, or assumption should I say. It's always been about gameplay. I don't mean to destroy your asperations, but when has Nintendo had a great Blockbuster, like God of War for the PS, or Halo for the Xbox? None. Everybody knows they screwed up the last 2 gens, but I think this time around it will do alot better. Although I believe that the PS, and Xbox brand are going to push games further than just the Wiimote. Both will have great gameplay, and graphics for most of there games. The Wii graphics really are no better than before. So what is the point, I think they should have done something different, at least had made the system 3 times more powerful than GC would have been a bigger plus for them.

Rare totally sucks now. After Conker's bad fur day, the quality of their games plummited. Perfect Dark Zero was the saddest excuse for a game that I have ever played and this is coming from someone who is a Perfect Dark fan. Unfortunately, I have not played Viva Pinata, though I hear it is good, I cannot comment on it until I have played it.

Visually yes but Gameplay nooooooooo. Zelda and Paper Mario kill those games but people have differant tatse right?

No it's a fact dude Halo 2 had some of the best GFX of last gen and way better than anything on PS2 still(even God of war 2) the whole point of MS system was to offer better GFX thats why it was stronger. Like i said since Bungie is using the same engine there singing that(Gameplay of GFX tune) but there changing there stance cause before it was Graphics and Gameplay are equally important but now since there game is underwhelming there like Gameplay over GFX but they shouldn't be saying that cause then people will lose arguments VS the Wii.

No they weren't, they were singing a song to the tune of "Best sales in history" esp. after they made $125 million in one day.  Oh and FYI if you know about bungie you'd know they've always been saying Gameplay>Graphics.

PD was the only game you mentioned that was really relevant, and that's only because the prequel was the sequel to Goldeneye.  Rare's best work was 2 generations ago, and I was not at all concerned when they were sold.

I agree and how a Wii owner at this point ( where are the games ) could say having Rare in the stables would not thrill them to death is beyond me.

Your right Viva Pinata would have been a great game for the Wii and would have done well unlike the 360 where the game failed.......

Ummm....no, Nintendo had to sell Rare because all of there games released in 2000 sold terribly because of the PS2 launch. This caused alot of Nintendo's money lost because the games didn't sell well enough. So Nintendo sold them. After that many of the workers at Rare left the company, like the Stamper Brothers (they created most of the games), and others left to work on TimeSplitters.

[QUOTE="organic_machine"]Rare totally sucks now. SecretPolice

You are entitled to an opinion but GS and millions of others disagree !!  PDZ= AAA launch title ;)

so wario ware is a aaa :|

Okay look at the post again I was responding too - He said PDZ was the " saddest excuse for a game " - now did I say anything about Wario Ware being sad, poor, suck or even mention it at all ???  No I only stated a fact you should take notes ;)

Take those goggles and file them under " G " than come back and maybe we can talk ;)

GS is one of the few that gave PDZ a higher rated review. A lot of other places gave it what it deserved. I think the best example of that is Game Informer. It deserved that 7 completely.

PDZ is NOT a AAA game, GS screwed up because they were dazzled by the next gen.  The game is not even AA.

I agree and how a Wii owner at this point ( where are the games ) could say having Rare in the stables would not thrill them to death is beyond me.

Yeah Nintendo fans would like Rare, just not the MS Rare. Nintendo played a larger role in the development of Rare games back in the day. Nintendo's working with Rare produced much better results then MS' Rare.

Rare makes some really great games. Probably the most varied kind of games you'll find on the 360. Unfortunately the 360 userbase doesn't seem to be into games like Viva Pinata or Banjo and Kazooie.

PDZ is over rated here at gamespot but that doesn't mean the game is worthless.

PDZ, Kameo, and Viva Pinata are three good games and Rare only seems to be getting better with each release.

Rare wasn't the same at the time of nintendo selling, and nintendo knew that. By the time nintendo sold rare, timesplitters in the ps2 had already been released by free radical with the making of staff and lead designers that had left rare.

All the clues are there, including nintendo giving metroid to a new developing studio instead of its once best second party developer. Whoever thinks newcomer MS gave a blow to nintendo with that is mistaken. All they did was to buy a brand that would dillude itself with time, and nintendo knew this.

Of the 5 games rare promised to be released on 5 years(xbox lifespan) most of them sucked and a few didn't make it in time. That goes to show the development house isn't the same, and most likely never will again.

I think Rare isn't as good as it was because Most of the people left Rare, One person left in 1997 to form his own Company, The Golden Eye team left early in Developement of Perfect Dark in 1999 so that didn't really effect Perfect Dark because the Engine and game was made with Golden Eye, then the Stamper Bros. left in 2007 but Banjo Threeie should be good because it is still the Original Banjo Team they haven't left.

i have a 360 :-) Anyway...it's not that i don't like Rare...or wouldn't love to see them on the Wii....I just think they've hit their prime...and am probably missing Nintendo's help...
