How do you know that the game is bad if you never played it? Just because it is different, doesn't make it bad.

turtlethetaffer

It was pretty bad man. Not to mention Rare is now dead. I wonder why hmm..... a lot of poeple abbreviate with M$.

Well I'm just saying it's a bit rash to assume a game is bad because it is different, especially when you haven't played it. I'm not saying anything about the quality of the game itself.

im an avid fan of the banjo franchise and ill defend nuts and bolts, its...different, i liked some aspects of it, 100%'d it and did everything i could in the game, but i was expecting a banjo threeie, nuts and bolts seems like a bit of a spin off from the original games

No that game would be DA2. After playing Origins you'd figured they just make it bigger and better--instead they made it smaller and gimped (consolized/dumb-down/or whatever the hell you want to call it)

I thought Conviction was great. I've literally owned all of them back to the original on the Xbox. I never had a doubt about Conviction. Some of the best coop around IMO.

I don't think DA2 deserves that much hate it gets all around, but I can understand it. That said, DA2 is just not a finished game, it lacks work put into it. Maybe they could have made a better sequel, but considering DA2 alone, I don't see a wasted potential in it as I see in SCC... just a rushed game.

Alien vs. Predator. Could have been good, but from what I played of it, it was flat out abysmal.

Just bought The Godfather 2. If you liked the first one you will like the second one. It's basically the same game, but with different graphics and of course a different world. But all the rest is the same. Warrant a 4.5 from GS? No more like a 6.5.

No, not really. It was a very solid game. Lots of room for improvement in a sequel for sure, but there have been other games that were a million times more ambitious and were outright mediocre.

it's a tie between assassins creed... seriously with a premise so great all they can think of for in game missions was to pickpocket and eavesdrop etc??

and far cry 2... where to begin??

unsurprisingly by the same publisher

Looking back maybe. But when it was first launched? No way. It was unique enough to earn that 9/10 score. It seemed like everyone jumped on the band wagon saying it was repetitive. Clearly they haven't played any shooting games yet.

Far Cry 2 really dissapointed me. I had so much more expected out of it. The traveling/exploring was so boring it killed the games pacing. Amazing graphics but weak gameplay. So unfortunate.

if you're referring to assassins creed i think its hard to deny the game is repetitive, bandwagon or no bandwagon.

i think people wouldn't have bothered as much about the repetition if the game had you perform tasks that made a bit more use of your abilities and the environment instead of sitting down to eavesdrop a conversation or brushing past someone to pickpocket them

Can't choose since there is so many.

Rainbow Six Vegas: After Rainbow Six: Letdown I was happy for a new Rainbow game. Foolish.

Farcry 2: The concept was way better than the original, execution was dubious, poor.

Crysis 2: Instead of advancing in the concept they turned it into Call of Duty in MP. SP had good flash in the pan moments but that was it.

Splinter Cell Conviction: They turned the franchise into something else, great job once again UBI.

Mercenaries 2: Good concept, bad execution.

Command & Conquer 4: OMG  and in the end of the story arc. :x

To me all that game lacked but its kindaa big lack was exploration. I mean its what the series is known for. That aside I found everything els enjoyable.

I remember three of them, lol. The first was the good boss fight that fit in near the end of the narrative. The second wasn't so much a fight as it was another where's waldo. The third was somewhat of a letdown considering who it was, but it was a good finish.

I've never played SCC but DA2 was basically this: Kirkwall/offshore island with cave to do your quests/elves place/1 race/1 backstory It's like if Origins just had Denerim (kirkwall), Karkari Wilds (cave for all quests), Brecillian outskirts and forest (elves). Thats about it. Seeing as it couldnt beat out its predecessor in almost every category, it is a wasted potential. it could have been RPG of the year instead its just this gimped game that turned out average: like the cowboys and chargers every year LOL. It's not a bad game--its just very average when it could've been so much more.

Brink, this game really could have been so much more, but the execution was poor

Borderlands, they really could have added a decent main story, i mean come on.(I did like the game alot but it could have been alot better)

Mass Effect 2, This game was great, but they hardly advanced the story, the rpg elements were elementary, and what you decided in the first game hardly mattered. Honestly, it hardly continued from the first game and that is where the potential was lost imo.

Alice: Madness Returns. Still a really good game but it could have been freakin legendary. Unfortunately the developers got really lazy with the platforming and minigames.

...was Splinter Cell Conviction.
.
If I remember right I first saw it in its E3 demo in 09 and from the first minutes of footage it fully got my attention. It was a kind of game I always wanted to play.
.
Well, the final game delivered in some aspects, mainly the cover system. It was brilliant. Probably the best system I've seen in a game, it was so easy to go from spot to spot and you were always where you wanted.
.
It was ok in other areas, but like the overall game, they were not fully developed, like the point and execute system
.
But the mainly flaws of SCC comes from three points: 1) The terrible TPS mechanics, it was nearly pointless to shoot from cover. 2) The lack of a melee combat system. SCC had some amazing hand-to-hand sequences, but they were all scripted. So you felt like this top agent but at the same time you were extremely limited. And 3) The overall lack of polishing. The game felt rushed, the AI was really bad, some abilities you should have were not there (like carrying a body out of sight) and so on.
.
That said, the core behind SCC could make a brilliant game... one like no other. I hope the next Splinter Cell does that.
.
Anyone got this idea from the game?

I'd say only if your really into the online co-op, or the just "Fun" that is to be had with smashing in zombie skulls. I personally was expecting more, they really set themselves up for failure in my eyes though when they released that first trailer and just failed to live up to anything that it promised.

The game doesn't take itself seriously, but has these really awkward moments and music cues that makes you almost feel like they got halfway through making an awesome game with a real hard-hitting story...and then they fired everyone and hired the guys next door who were playing a L4D marathon.

*edit*

As for the Co-Op the PC version is all sorts of screwed up because they released the dev build on Steam in North America, so for a few days after launch the game was litteraly bursting at the seems with bugs and game eating crashes let alone functional co-op.Now people are in the process of re-downloading the proper game but the poor souls who haven't updated yet wont be able to play with anyone because of incompatible versions and whatnot.

Assassin's Creed, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Castlevania Lords of Shadow, Marvel vs Capcaom 3,Sonic the Hedgehog(2006), Sonic the Hedgehog 4 episode 1, Dragon Age 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Devil May Cry 4, Resident Evil 5, Crysis 2 and 3rd Birthday.

If I had to choose one of them, it would have to be Resident Evil 5.

What ruined Splinter Conviction for me was the control scheme. Its HORRIBLE. We can't customize some basic stuff on the controls. Its sad when a good game is ruined by bad design decisions.

Infinite space on the DS for me. i could have been the RPG of the gen for me. everything about the game was excellent. except the combat. it was so incredibly screwed and almost completly luck based. the game was also terribly balanced so it required a huge amount of grinding. thing is there is a lot of combat in the game so it cant be shrugged off. unfortunately it killed the game for me. but everything outside that...exploring space, customising your ships with a tetris like system, the story (what i saw of it at least)....all excellent. unfortunately (well fortunately i suppose...bad games shouldnt sell) it sold bupkis. so the chances of seeing any sort of sequal on the 3DS or anything it basically nill. there is real greatness waiting to get out there though imho. sort out the combat and it could be a real sleeper hit.

Resistance 2 would be my choice. Still an solid game, but an awful sequel imo. The game could've been wonderful with weapon wheel + health packs. Suprised to see so much negativity about Splinter Cell: Conviction. I'm a huge SC fan, and I really thought this was the right step for the stealth genre overall. Granted, it could've used less moments where you HAD to shoot something.

Most of the people that enjoyed the game, thinks (myself included of course) that the game could have been much better.
