This thread is dedicated to the once great series, that help Craptivision become the monster it is today. It is a sad day to see what has become of this once awesome franchise. THPS helped pave the way for all other extreme sports, to get a spotlight in the video game world. Whats everyones best memory's of THPS??? I remember my first backflip from pool to pool in school, or unlocking Spiderman in THPS2. Hell remember how much it was a pain to manuel all the way down Alcatraz??? R.I.P old buddy thanks for all the hours of fun!!!

if it wasn't for the THPS, Skate would have never existed. But I agree Skate is better now. But back when THPS first launched and all of the way up to 4, its a no contest. I just hope EA doesn't get lazy since they have no competition now.

The first ones on the dreamcast were godly... LIke really it was some of the most fun video games had ever been at the time, but then they just absolutely killed it

They killed another good series, what a shame, I loved the series up to THUG, THUG 2 was ok but I couldn't get into the rest of the games. Ride looks to be the worst in the series.

May his games R.I.P.:(

Yep TH died a sad, sad death. 1-4 were awesome and I loved playing them so much. But after that, I lost interest and they got worse and worse I heard THUG was good but pretty much after that it was a long slow deathslide to RIDE.

Time to hang it up, and just take ole Hawk behind the shed to die.

I feel you, bro. No matter how stagnant the Tony Hawk franchise became, I always had some sort of fun with each new series (although I must admit, Proving Ground really stretched it for me). As for Ride...well, let's just say that I don't play Tony Hawk games for a realistic experience ;). Seriously, one of the most baffling and needless peripherals for a console, IMO. It's something that should've been exclusive to the Wii, considering it's got the balance board and all. Nonetheless, R.I.P. Tony Hawk...you should've kept your pride and retired just like the actual skater :P.

I bought a PS2 because of THPS3!!! I remember how massive the levels felt and the revert changed the dynamics of THPS forever. I played THPS all the way up till project 8. I rented it an thought the whole move your feet with both sticks felt forced. If I see Ride for 20 bucks somewhere someday I'll pick it up. I want to try and do actual skate tricks like kickflips or variels and see what the game interprets on screen.

I have fond memories of the first three games. I remeber playing the hell out of THPS3 one night with my friends/family on the PS2. However, the last one I liked was Underground which was great but not as good as the first three.

Oh well. There is always Skate to take the torch.

svetzenlether

I posted about this in another thread. How can you say 2 was the highlight of the series??? When 3 is widely considered the pinnacleof franchise it even scored a 10 here @ GS.

The one thing I would like to know is whats Neversofts whole take on this??? Tony Hawk was NS's baby for so many years before it was yanked away too some no name developer. I wonder how they feel about seeing the TH series crash???

Oh man back in the day I remember playing THPS on my PS2 and then got it on my PC and loved it even more. The game was full of awesome back in the day ... but now, like Sonic (unless Sonic returns back to its 2D glory, DO IT SEGA!! Ninty does it all the time!) it should just call it quits.

Nah!!! But if you wanted a realistic break your thumb type game TSaK was the game. Even a simple 50-50 grind was hard as hell lol.

I hate any kind of sport in real life, and doubly so in video games. However, the early THPS titles (1-3) were a utter joy for me to play, THPS3 especially. The environments were so wonderfully, often hilariously done.

I think we can all agree that annual releases of this game helped end the series a lot faster than maybe releasing once every other year.

The last amazing one was Tony Hawk Underground. It was a great game. The series died slowly after that and got worse and worse in each release.

Damn right, I believe you, i put a lot of hours into it too.

yeah thug is deffinately most perfect of all the thps games and is still the most played ps2 thps game online.

But yeah its quite sad it turned out this way :( THPS is my all time favorite franchise if you cant tell by the last 4 letters in my name. There is absolutely no online game like it

The first one I played was THPS3 when I was like 7(I think?). It blew me away and consumed my life for the week I rented it. It's the reason I have a Wal-Mart skateboard laying around somewhere...

Then I played THPS4. That really bored me. I remember ti wasn't as over-the-top as THPS3 when it comes to levels.

The last one I played was THUG at a friends house and immediately asked for it for Christmas. That game was AMAZINGGG. The customization, the storyline (which was the pinnacle of awesome as a kid); it was all so BA. I still go back and play it occasionally.

I'm afraid to touch any of the other games (THUG2 looked really stupid), but that 's probably for good reason. R.I.P THPS. 3 and THUG ruled my childhood. If only I tried harder on that crappy Wal-Mart skateboard.

Playing Tony Hawk's Underground on the PS2 with my friends; we would createand play levels. It was also the first Tony Hawk game to offer a real story, which I really enjoyed playing. Best game of all time.

Well, since this is a THPS thread, shouldn't it end at THPS4, and then no other games can come into the thread? Every THPS game was good, and I enjoyed THUG and somewhat THUG2, after that I never bought a TH game. Thought they were just milking the series. Yet another great series heading to the toilet because of Activision. TH, GH, CoD, where will it stop?

The only one I owned was THPS 4 on my PC. Great game. The three previous ones were also great. After 4 the series became meh. Much milkage, few innovation. Guess they finally innovated.

Playstation 1...a decade ago when my younger self, my sister and the ethnic boy from across the street would waste hours away on Tony hawks 1, 2 and 3. Such fine memories aswell, for me its just one of those franchises that summed up gaming culture in the 90s. Hell I remember being frightened by the 2D Grey Alien sprite in the Roswell map...the way it would stare into your soul and whimper ''help me...'' :(

I remember playing thps1 on my friends ps1 every day after school. All we did was play that same level in the warehouse....Then, I played the crap out of the airport level in THPS3 on my brothers pc...Good times...
