My empty wallet
RDR is cool and all but honestly just messed around with this game a bit today, and it's ten thousand times more fun. jg4xchampI agree. RDR is a great game and I'm having a lot of fun with it, but it's completely on hold for this. In fact I put both Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption on hold just for more time to play this. It's that good.
I can't find anything bad. I don't particularly like the cleaning deal like in the first one where you had to blow up everything in a time limit to get a star, but in this one it's a lot shorter and after all it's just one star. That's the only thing in the entire game I don't like so far. Everything is just perfect. For that exact purpose, no game is perfect, Gamespot changed 10 from "Perfect" to "Prime" in user reviews. It could also mean a 9.8 or 9.9 since Gamespot goes on a 0.5 increment scale. Deserves no less than a perfect 10 to me though.well i'm sure its a fun game and all, but a 10/10? I hate how GS couldnt even find 1 thing to put in the "bad" category. It's probably not over-hype like with GTA IV, but I'm just one of those people that doesnt believe that ANY game deserves a 10/10. I tend to not find it THAT hard to find at least 1 thing bad about ANY game. 10/10 means perfect, and when EVERYONE says a game is "perfect" I just start to wonder how much they were paid to say it.......

MG2 looks awesome, and I'll get it soon but to me, its not like this awesomely epic game thats one of the greatest games of our time or something. It just comes across as an excellent disctraction. What I mean is, of course its a great game, but its just not something epic like a Legend of Zelda game. I can't see myself being "wowed". Its no wonder why GS didn't give it the "Oh Snap" emblem. Its because there's never going to be some unforgettable moment that people will always be talking about. There's nothing deep about the game, and its just impossible to get immersed in it. By the time I've beaten it I'll have forgotten all about it.
It's just nothing amazes me because IMO its just good old Mario back with some fun platforming. Again, this isn't a bad thing, but this rating of 10 just doesn't seem like a big deal to me whereas something if something like the next LoZ game or even something like Red Steel 2 had gotten a 10/10, now that would have been something to talk about.
i'm finishing the first one before i get the second. if its anything like the first one, it's amazing :D
I loved the music in the Falls level. Hearing a classic tune coming to full orchestrated life was great. This Game has THE BEST MUSICAL SCORE EVER!

I must say, from what little I have played, this is one of the most fun games I have played this generation so far. However, I do not believe that we will see a Super Mario Galaxy 3 (would be complete overkill IMO and kind-of an easy way out for yet another sequel). I'm interested to see what nintendo will do next for Mario.JMR09Super Mario Dimension would be amazing if they pulled it off right. Travel through different dimensions altogether. Keep the same brilliant level design seen in the two Galaxy games, but then add things unique to dimensions, twisted physics, visual effects, etc. It'd be hard but if they did it right they could pull it off. If it improves even more upon SMG2 I'm all for a third though.
Well, I finished it. 110 stars. Ill probably get the remaining 10 tomorrow.
In short the game is fantastic. Best game Ive played this gen. Best patformer Ive ever played. Not the best game Ive ever played, but damn close.
Weren't there supposedly 240 UNIQUE stars? That's what all the reviews said.Well, I finished it. 110 stars. Ill probably get the remaining 10 tomorrow.

The other 120 green stars trigger after you get the original 120.
Ill get the green stars over time. 120 is what I was originally aiming for.

Oh nice, I was wondering how 240 stars were gonna fit into the 7 worlds with the fact that I collected 10 and skipped 8 (mostly Comets, a couple secrets I'll get this weekend). Didn't seem to make sense.Pshhhh screw that send me the equivalent of $60 USD and I'll buy a game and ship it back to you :P.I wish i didnt have to wait a few more weeks just to import this game from Europe :(

Which is about $80-90 US depends on the exchange rate at the time though, Australian dollar is quite low at the moment. I buy all my stuff off of ebay and its usually imported from the US or the UK sometimes Asia.[QUOTE="oldkingallant"] Pshhhh screw that send me the equivalent of $60 USD and I'll buy a game and ship it back to you :P. oldkingallant

ColdP1zza
[QUOTE="ColdP1zza"]Take notice n00biesNormally I'd quote something like that but that's why I didn't even bother. At least they tried unlike most, but you can't undermine the importance of an amazingly designed Mario game as "just a distraction." People still go back to the 20 year old Mario games because of their excellent level design, and in a day where video games are as popular and accessible as ever, as well as frankly (in this case) better, I don't expect this game to fade any time soon. Asking Red Steel 2 to get AAAAE is ludicrous and they chose LoZ obviously because GS was cruel enough to give it that 8.8 last time, so that's a no go here at GS. Was it a big deal when MGS4 got AAAAE? That can't be a big deal and this not be one.... I beat SMG2 yesterday with 120 stars and it truly is amazing. I just feel that while this is one of the best games this generation, it doesn't deserve a 10 out of 10. If any game deserves that it's Super Mario Galaxy. There isn't the "Wow!" factor in SMG2 that was in SMG, because it (SMG2) is very similiar to SMG. I feel that SMG is the game that should've gotten a 10/10 back when it was released and this game a 9.5/10.
Anyway, amazing game that every gamer should play. :)
ok first of all TP did not deserve a 9.0. It was the easiest zelda game Ive ever played in my life. I wouldve given it an 8.0

Because it was easy doesn't make it bad. It was a lot more enjoyable to me that way because there wasn't any frustration and being stuck on a dungeon for a couple months, wasting time looking in all the wrong places. Zelda TP was totally underrated. Zelda Phantom Hourglass however....now THAT deserved a very low score.ok first of all TP did not deserve a 9.0. I think it got 10 for IMPROVING what the 1st did.
Grabbed SMG2 last night, even though my Wii has been acting up. The reason for that is when I went to go see my mom a couple of years ago, my girlfriend at the time kept it in a tight, cramped space that just screamed overheating, and she dropped it. Buying a new one next month.
Anyways, one of the best games I have ever played. It is impossible to put into words how well they've transitioned from the original. How they actually improved on the perfection that was the first is nothing short of amazing. This game is sex.

I completely agree with this. The original deserved the 10. SMG2, while inarguably an incredible game, just doesn't feel as epic as the first. The levels felt larger and more unique in SMG. I don't quite care for the new map, I preferred the old hub as it felt more integrated and not so separate. On the flip side, the music is much better here, and Nintendo's still got the level design down flat with many of the worlds being a lot more inventive. Yoshi is an awesome addition, as are the new suits.
But I can't say I'm enjoying this as much as the first. Still a great game, but just not as good.
Finished getting 120 stars last night and I started my review for System Wars Monthly.
I'm going to check out the green stars and see if I can get through 241 stars before SWM prints!
When people said that this game keeps surprising you at every turn and makes each moment more exhilarating than the last, they weren't exaggerating. I am on Fluffy Buff Galaxy and I am happy to say that this game completely surpasses Super Mario Galaxy 1 in every possible way. Nintendo has built this game around the primary reason which we all play video games, and that is for fun.
are really the other stars unique? or it is like the first game?Finished getting 120 stars last night and I started my review for System Wars Monthly.

You are right sir. Some people here are in denial that SMG 2 is the pinnacle, the absolute, the apex of the modern gaming era. It will not get better than this.
