People are really having trouble porting to the PS3 it appears. If they spent more time these issues wouldn't be there.

If Sony spent time talking to devs and getting a idea ofthe hardware they'd like to build engines and tools for, the PS3 might have a lot more support.

And that time spent sorting the PS3 issues cost money and resources which should be used to make the games better not wasted on working out issues. Shame!!

Instead of going to start and save game you just push the PS button.

Wish i could do that with the xbox....like push the back button or something.

yeah but that still doesnt make it a better purchase. Im sure X360 will get it in a patch. But anyone remember back in the days when Far Cry didnt have quicksave? Man, if you play that game in the hardest mode pre-quicksave patch, you will literally pull your hair out :P

My 4 year old PC can run HL2 on the highest settings - almost any PC can run it........

NOt to mention steam is fantastic, and the online community is the biggest yet - dwarfing every console and bigger than WoW (13.5 million steam users).

And the mods...... Absolutley awesome. Iron Grip, Synergy, Zombie Master, Mininerva, Insurgency - I could go on.
Best mod scene ever.

BTW my PC - minus the HDDs and case cost me $700 USD

Some developers are starting to realize that making a game built on the PS3 then port it to the 360 results in both efficient or ideal performance on both systems. Hopefully, most if not all devs should consider this so that everyone would be happy. :)

False! Both 360 and PC version of the game had been developed at the same time. The PS3 was also on the same page, then Valve abandoned its development and was passed to EA.

The PS3 version of Orange Box got an 8.4 at IGN, because of framerate issues and long loading times:(

That doesn't surprise me, as it was just ported over. They didn't create the game from the ground up as it would have taken another 2 years to complete. Just about any game that gets ported from the PC/XBox 360 to the PS3 is going to have framerate issues and other problems.

More time = more money.
More money = more loss due low amount of PS3 owners.

Bad port = low sales

Low sales = pointless to bring it to the PS3

My point is that if they were putting it on the PS3 hoping for sales then they might as well have done a good job with it. I don't see how any self respecting gamer would disagree with this but w/e.

That was the idea when they started porting the game over. Then they found out about all the bottleneck issues the PS3 has with ports and decided that they were wasting way to much time trying to fix the framerate issues. It was costing Value more money to make the game, then what they would profit. That's why they handed it off to EA to finish. Obviously EA couldn't figure out the framerate issues as well, and figure the game would sell on it's name along. Hey the game sold like crazy on the PC and XBox 360, so it should do just as good on the PS3, even if the game isn't as good as the PC/XBox 360 versions, right? That's what EA execs and marketers said to themselves before releasing the game with all the bugs and framerate issues.

Well its definetly a downgrade but not a deal breaker. Prob score lower here at gamespot.

Its pretty well known this game was shoved to another dev and given no love from valve on the PS3.

We've seen what can happen when the devs do care. (Oblivion, Rainbow Six Vegas, Assassins Creed, COD4, Ninja Gaiden Sigma.)

Why would they buy the PS3? Maybe because its home to certain exclusives they are fans of? Isn't that why Nintendo fans always buy Nintendo consoles? Isn't that why Halo fans bought an XBOX? Do you buy a console just because its selling or because it houses your favorite games and developers?

Sony fans are really just MGS, FF, Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Sucker Punch, fans. Not a fan of a piece of metal or giant corporation.

Did you read the part of the review that states this quick save feature is rendered useless due to the long load times? So even a good thing is rendered bad.
