[QUOTE="FlamesOfGrey"]I would be really anticipating these games if Gamefreak would actually use the Pokémon universe well and change the progression. It's been the same damn thing since Red & Green. At this point I'll only be checking it out at some point for the new battle animations.Maroxad
I assume by progression you mean the formula (start in a hamlet, rival, team evil, 8 badges, elite four), and if that is the case I totally agree.
3D and worldwide release are not enough for me, I need moar.
I would love seeing the next pokemon game take place in a freeroam open world environment with toned down levelling, tonnes of secrets, a lot of side quests and activities, trainer advancement (trainers who use a certain type will gain exp in this type which will grant bonus exp to pokes that are a lower level than the trainer's level which should help encourage players in trying out new pokemon), rebalance the pokemon and make sure there is absolutely no level scaling.
Yes, that is exactly what I meant. The Pokémon universe is pretty expansive (Breeders, Explorers, Gym Leaders, Researchers etc...) but since Gamefreak knows rehashing that formula will sell they will never change it. This'll probably be the last game in the series I play until they do.Which game has the Fairy Legendary? I'll probably get that version because innovation lol.TheDidactSuperior X
Meanwhile the world will be enjoying the greatest Pokemon game (and by extension, the greatest handheld game) of all time.Game is gonna get hit by the rehash bat.

hey I'd welcome it if they proved me wrong.Actually, the average person cares more about how a game looks than how it plays, meaning that to your regular Joe, X and Y would have been incredibly refreshing even if they hadn't got all the new stuff.Hyping it A. 3D isn't gonna save it from still being the exact same thing to the average person. Still think it looks dope though.

To a degree, but they are also going to recognize its just B/W but in 3D and even if the buying base doesn't care (for example I don't) gsmespot (who ultimately is all who matters for hype) sure as hell will.

Oh, Gamespot is going to flop this to hell and back. Most people just don't care. Plus I'm sure IGN will more than make up :PFor me, I always find it hard with something like pokemon to score. Mechanics that do change or evolve sometimes don't mean anything unless you wanna go competitive or rather, properly train your pokes. Features and stuff like that are hard to rate. And then the idea that the core adventure is the same is that its suppose to be a resest sort of thing constantly inviting new people and especially the younger audience to experience the formula. Its crazy hard to figure out how to properly rate it because these reviewers have all probably played the same game for like 7 iterations now.

I'm just saying that there's a noticable 8.5 cap that they don't seem keen on liftingYou think maybe the games that they gave 8.5 too just weren't 9's in their opinion. I mean to me your complaint is basically "they are bias until something gets a 9". You know how stupid that sounds?

So have I, but my ratings for it won't fall. Well okay, maybe with Black 2/White 2, but that's about it. I agree with the gist of the argument though, it's hard to rate a game like Pokemon (and to mark it down for a similarity in formula every time, simply because, from an objective perspective, they sort of got it utterly right the first time; they can only add to it and refine it after that).I'm hyping it AAA. It will not get AAA here on Gamespot, but don't care. For me it will be AAA :D
Embrace the Flop!

You can essentially just skip a gen or 2 and be fine. B/W was a better adventure than D/P though imo even if the metagame for it is stupidly expansive now that dream world abilities exist.

I actually disagree, but I must ask you, do you casually play the game's campaign, and call it a day? Or do you get into the metagame? Or are you somewhere in between? Ahhh. Okay, I don't get into the metagame, but I play the game more seriously than the casual player. I'll be honest, I have always found enough changes in every game to justify its existence (although I will admit that the series suffered major stagnation on the DS; I think that Diamond and Pearl and Black and White cumulatively had about as many changes as you typically expect from one generation). I tend to view it as GTA: the core structure, progression, gameplay, mechanics usually remain the same, but you have a new location to explore, new characters, and a new story, so it's worth it in the end.Bro, I'm messing :P I don't care two hoots for how this game does on here, but I love seeing people get up in arms about Gamespot scores.[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="ActicEdge"]
