The PS3 is venturing into the territory where it may actually be DISCONTINUED

Sony is in full panick mode, and for good reason. The prospect of the PS3 being discontinued is no longer a Systemwars-ish assertion... it's on the way to becoming a fully blown reality.

Sony's situation has quickly regressed into a nightmare scenario, and the outcome may also be nightmarish. I'm not a big Sony fan, but I hope the PS3 pulls through as I would hate to see Sony leave the console business.

are you joking ? GT4 alone sold like 10 million copies. they got more great franchises than MS and ninty combined. all ninty gots is mario and MS halo, im not saying that is all that sells well on each console but when you ask a casual what you think of when you think niny or xbox that is what they will say, and ask thenm about sony it is never one answer you might get 5-10 answers from ratchet, to gran turismo, to MGS4, to god of war, to socom, etc, etc. Chris-Hansen

Also, there are several problems with the PS3 and sadly difficult game development is one of them. This is why Sony's choice to use the Cell processor is suspect. The Cell was originally suposed to be used as a CPU/GPU hybrid, like the Emotion Engine was in the PS2. The RSX, didn't come along until late in the project. The Cell could run the blu-ray player, which was what Sony wanted. Point being, is that extra time that is spent in development, is time that gamers could be playing games.
