Preliminary Point: Before any of y'all piss and moan, yes, I'm well aware of what the Playstation 3 has laid-up for next year -- I do not doubt for a second it will be the Playstation 3's best year yet; however, this topic isn't about next year or "potential." It's about laying out facts and then drawing views/opinions off of those facts for this year.
So, without further a-do, let's begin.
As you all remember from earlier this year, the Playstation 3 had a wonderful start of the year in regards to the System Wars metagame. Yes, this topic is about exclusives. But yet, as time progressed, it slowly fell apart to the point of hitting a game drought for the rest of year. That doesn't help the fact that all three hyped titles folks were looking forward too this Fall were delayed, two of which into 2011 (Socom, LBP) -- one in which still has a unknown set release date (GT5).
As you can see above, I created a nice little graph using Excel showcasing the stats of this year's high quality game mix. All the information can be found in this spreadsheet. But look at the Playstation 3, look at the solid start and then va-roooom, into the ground. A few long months without any high quality exclusives. And aside from the Xbox 360, the Wii and PC are holding up great by consistently having a solid array of high quality exclusives. The Xbox 360 had an extremely bad start of the year (ME2 aside), and then hit the goose-egg yet again during the summer -- though a good thing the Xbox 360 has had this year is its offering with the Xbox Live Arcade, which is stellar as always.
Nevertheless, this question has been in my mind -- what exactly have PS3 owners been playing lately? Multiplatform games? The million-dollar question, folks.
