I hear a lot of bawing for Gears 3 and Dark Souls. PLEASE... Xenoblade Chronicles has a higher metacritic average than BOTH of them, and has been hailed as the best and most influential JRPG this Gen. A rehashed Gears game and a game who's only perk is hard combat? Please, take off the goggles guys, Xenoblade Chronicles is THE GOTY.

The only correct answer for GOTY is Portal 2.

The REAL game of the year will not be Xenoblade Chronicles. No matter how good the game is, GOTY's are almost always big budget, well known releases. Isn't Chronicles on the Wii? Yea it won't win...

Portal 2 has more legitimacy as a GOTY but it won't win, either. Many publications give a GOTY award but it isn't like there's a super bowl-type trophy that gets handed out for GOTY. It could win if a certain magazine thinks it's amazing, but that isn't likely to happen. A game like GOW3/BF3/MW3 or Skyrim will likely be named GOTY from most credible sources.

Some of the GOTY awards are determined by votes anyway, and people aren't going to vote for XC over most of the games that will also be up for the award.

This is system wars, games are declared GOTY before release by people who've never even played them :P So far just about every review and person who's played Xenoblade say its the best JRPG in years, and one of the best in the last decade. It is certainly not without merit as a legitimate contender as GOTY, and is by far more original than any of the other "favorites" that I've played this year :P

GOTY should be a great game all around, Human Revolution doesn't fit that bill by any means, it is a really cool game to play though, except I'm too impatient for the stealthy options :P

I really wish Xenoblade was released in North America. Sad that the so called "best JRPG" of the generation isn't released here. Merex760

It's more than worth what needs to be done to import it, took me 58 hours on the dot to beat the main campaign alone, and there are a LOT of hours worth of sidequests, colony building, and skill tree stuff I want to do on my New Game+ :)

I wish the game would come out here in the U.S. so we can find out for ourselves how great it is. Mass Effect 2 still gets a nod from me.
