US gamers cant even play this , most of them ...or the ones that dont own a good PC even.. or dunno!! But i agree is good game anyways. GOTY though? Most likely not. Not here in gamespot at least.
Oh the hypocrisy, Scores and metacritic are used here constantly, don't get jelly when they're used against you Metacritic is worthless. Your damage control is worthless tbh
I just got my copy in the mail - and set up my Wii to play it tho it took a lot of effort... I will be playing that and ikenie no yoru after I'm done with my dark souls playthrough.
Eh. I love JRPG's but I've been through that whole formula countless times. Wouldn't stop me from playing the hell out of it if I ever got my hands on Xenoblade though :P I've read up about how great and "new" it is, how it's a pretty unconventional JRPG, but still, a JRPG is a JRPG. Now Dark Souls, I've never played anything like it. My GOTY for sure, unless something amazing comes out and tops the experience that Dark Souls is giving me, which is unlikely. Sorry TC, I love JRPG's as much as the next guy, but I gotta go with my gut on this one, and it's tellin me go Dark Souls!
Besides, if we're going off Metacritic scores, which apparently we are, Portal 2 (95) would beat Xenoblade (93), so that's kind of a moot point.TheOtherTheoG
Yes, but portal 2 is also ridiculously short and didn't drag it's genre into areas of modern gameplay :P
I don't think a JRPG can really contend for GOTY no matter how it is. It does not have mass appeal like Uncharted, Gears, Skyrim or Zelda does. Those are much better contenders.

Anyone who says dark souls is full of **** and should get consumption, that game is the worst game I have ever played. The most unresponsive clunky ass controls ever. And to top it off the game had a butt framerate. Sony can keep its souls franchise no thanyou. And Tc i disagree , I think its either going to Uncharted 3, Gears 3, or skyrim.

The real game of the year so far is Dark Soul, maybe skyrim will able to dethrone that.

You're saying that this game looks like a PS@ game. The PS2 can't pull off a game with this scale as easily as the Wii.
The giant monster-thing to the right of the picture looks like Palkia from the Pokemon series. Anyway, does GameSpot usually include titles outside of North America?

That is not a traditional JRPG and stop comparing it to one. It may be an Japanese made RPG but it is very much western style. BUt it haz katanaz Assassins Creed Brotherhood deserves a 10 and Crysis is the best looking game of all time.

As buggy as the first and expecting GOTY? If you can ignore bugs when considering GOTY New Vegas would have won last year :P

Hows it buggy? Whens the last time you played it? My first playthrough was in July and there were no bugs. Its called a patch if you ddint know.

The Witcher 2 was no where near as close to being buggy as Fallout New Vegas. I've been playing The Witcher 2 since day one launch and I haven't run into any bugs. And CDPR's support has been impeccable.
As for GOTY, I don't have one yet. I'll wait until 2011 is over first. :P
