Demon's Souls got GOTY 09.

It might not be traditional JRPG, but just because it has some western style in it, doesn't mean it not a JRPG. The genre is really all over the place in terms of style that honestly I prefer calling by where ever it is made.

Too bad its exclusively on the worst console I've ever laid hands on... Really wish they'd port it over one day to the PS3\X360koospetoors

lol seriously? Never even played it and you're knocking something you know nothing about. The combat system is seriously the best I've played in a JRPG outside of demons souls, especially in the boss fights. Not CoD enough for you guys?

Xenoblade is such an amazing game ! It's currently my GOTY, I could see Skyrim topping it though...it's gonna be close.

It can't be GOTY if it doesn't even get released. :?

I haven't played it so can't comment, but I'd put my money on Dark Souls. Hopefully the Witcher 2 is at least a finalist, that game doesn't seem to get it's respect with all the recent games that have come/coming out.

I'm sure they'll give it to a game that you don't have to import... and that game still looks like a last generation game.

The REAL game of the year will not be Xenoblade Chronicles. No matter how good the game is, GOTY's are almost always big budget, well known releases. Isn't Chronicles on the Wii? Yea it won't win...
