the tower (decent CPU, motherboard, power supply, and fans) $300
2 gigs of high quality ram $100
Windows Vista $200+ (amazing how hermits fail to add this to their "PCs arn't so expensive" arguement)
a decent Video Card $250
That's $850 for a new next gen PC which will go obsolete in 4 years. Oh, and don't forget about the bugs.
Sure, you can slowly upgrade...but every 4 years you're basically spending the $800+ in total anyway.

850 dollars for a next-gen PC? I bought one that wasn't at the best of standards last year and I paid 1200 for it. Pretty damn good deal if you ask me.nyoroismQuoted for Truth I spend $2000 for my PC not even a year ago, just to find out that I can't play the most hyped PC games coming this year unless I do a $600 upgrade. :|

Well, at least you didn't say it was $3000. But hey, I happen to think a system which will max out Crysis and last 4 years is a pretty damn good deal, since you can use it for so much more than gaming (and it's actually feesible).Danm_999
ya and no lag i suppose in older games with like 1000 guys in them? great deal if you ask me. and i could do my homework on it, and surf the web using a real browser. and even play many many many demos!
the tower (decent CPU, motherboard, power supply, and fans) $300that's really cheap. hahaha, my pc costs way more than that. my graphics card alone was 460. then i bought ram, a bigger fan. etc. my pc was probably around 1500 or so. good thing my dad paid for it all. your thread kinda...you know...failed.

the tower (decent CPU, motherboard, power supply, and fans) $300well in my opinion starting from scratch a Good next gen computer would be around $1100, though the way I look at it is that evey one buys a new computer every 5 years any way and they will spend maybe $600 so I dont know if you get at what I am getting at but your not really spending that much more.

$250 video card now, thatll be obsolete in 2 years at most. Its probably not DX10 so that is kind of lame, unless $250 is what a 8800GTS 320 costs in USA, not sure.
Where did u come up with the idea a decent processor / MOBO / case and fan would cost only $300, u building a sempron or somethign? single core piece of junk?

If we're not getting a Dx10 card, why are we getting Vista?
