Yada yada yada,

Yeah, gaming computers are more expensive than consoles - even if you have the knowledge of how to build one from scratch (which most people don't)

Yeah, gaming pcs put out better graphics

However, besides the console exclusive games and sometimes genres (platfomers mainly), The main reason people buy consoles is because they are MUCH more comfortable to play.

LETS BE HONEST EVERYONE. Who really would preferring to keep their computer in their living room connected to their 50" HDTV? Of course it's possible to disconnect and move your pc every time you want to play games with your keyboard and mouse on the living room couch eight feet from your tv. But c'mon, this is why elitest hermits will never be the preferred type of gamer. It's not that hard to understand.

Misconception much? I don't know where to start... :?

And WoW completely moots your entire argument. It is a game with mass market appeal. Heck there are as many people with active WoW accounts as there are on Xbox Live.

Because its clearly impossible to do your work on your TV. You don't HAVE to move it back and forth. I keep my PC hooked up to my HDTV in my room and browse the forums from my beanbag. Its not impossible, heck, its not even that hard to do.

Pcs arn't more expensive then consoles.. a $800 pc will outperform every console and yet.. You will be able to use it for things other theng aming.. Things that are a neccesity to having now a days, such as word processing, internet surfing, as well as other more technical programs..

The reason why people don't do pc gaming is because its too complicated.. You can rig the PC to yoru tv and sit on a couch and play the game.. But it will take longer to do but you will have more customization from it.

Wrong, just higher resolutions but hardly anything that looks better than what the consoles are doing.

That's not a very good argument when trying to disprove the relavancy of console gaming. *just a hint*

Really, a weak argument.

The best argument for saying that there's a real market for consoles is because console gaming is far more a social experience. You can have 4 players on a single system, while most PC games are single player (unless everyone has their own system). I mean, I know online play helps, but I personally find playing with friends in the same room more fun than online.

And yes, I understand that it's not possible for that to happen all the time...just saying it is one of the actual advantages of console gaming.

I never play with anyone else on my console. That argument is weak. But, I do playing video games on my comfortable couch on my large hdtv. For the record, I do like playing my gaming pc (in the dark) for games like STALKER. But even, multiplat games are sometimes bought for my console (Bioshock, Madden '08 ).

For $50 you can easily setup your PC so it can be switched at will between your 50" TV and aPC monitor.

You appear to be agreeing with my main point. That is that it is not practical for most people to keep their PC connected to their HDTV in their living room. This is the advantage of consoles.

I read what you wrote and I guess I'm confused...you say it is not pratical for for people to move their pc back and forth between a desk and the couch when they want to game on their big TVs and the comfort of their couch.

I'm saying you can make it practical to game from your couch and do work at a desk for $50 or even game at a desk for 10 mins until your gf is done watching trading spaces then switch to the big screen.

Don't speak in a condescending tone. It makes you look mean. I know what practical means. Explain to me why, for every day matters, its not a good option to hook up a PC to your TV? I mean, you can still use your keybaord and mouse for exploring the interweb, it doesn't take up exhorbant ammounts of space, and you can switch between input devices fairly simply. So go ahead, elaborate Mr. Condescending.

C'mon man, I have a gaming pc. I have a nice living room set up. I don't want to keep a key board and mouse underneath my coffee table and whip it out every time I need to do something on my computer. People use their computers for more than just playing video games, this is my point.

I'd be glad to debate you... if you could actually bring up any kind of meaningful and definitive argument.

Then just buy one of those new 360 keyboard controllers and use that.

Yada yada yada,

It depends on what games you're playing. World of Warcraft can be run on a $300 dell on minimum requirements.

Yeah, gaming pcs put out better graphicssepticvirus

Depends on the rig. An el chapo computer will have craptacular graphics.

However, besides the console exclusive games and sometimes genres (platfomers mainly), The main reason people buy consoles is because they are MUCH more comfortable to play.speticvirus

The PC layout was designed from the ground up to be used 8-10 hours per day, 5 days a week, comfortably. I'm sorry but when it comes to comfort over the hours, PC pretty much has consoles beat.

LETS BE HONEST EVERYONE. Who really would preferring to keep their computer in their living room connected to their 50" HDTV? Of course it's possible to disconnect and move your pc every time you want to play games with your keyboard and mouse on the living room couch eight feet from your tv. speticvirus

Some people like moving around their PCs, others don't. I have an HDTV, but I don't move lug my PC to it. Irreguardless, the sheer amount of people with PCs versus people with HDTVs means that there is a larger market for PC gaming than current gen console gaming.

Its about as impractical as having other consoles hooked up to your TV. I could probably list off calorie exertion ratios to picking up your keyboard from the ground to walking twenty feet, but you're ultimately not worth all that effort. This arguement is juvenile. Its not hard, nor impractical to game on your PC on your TV. I do it, its simple and easy.

So if you can show me a console that does thigns other then gaming and can match the thousands of thigns the pc can do other then play games, I am all ears.

You appear to be agreeing with my main point. That is that it is not practical for most people to keep their PC connected to their HDTV in their living room. This is the advantage of consoles.

Thats not true, the reason why people dont do it is because its complicated.. People such as your self can't fathom building a computer and would rather just sit down and get a dumbed down version with otu any hassle or research..

Yada yada yada,

Yeah, gaming computers are more expensive than consoles - even if you have the knowledge of how to build one from scratch (which most people don't)HatFried

But c'mon, this is why elitest hermits will never be the preferred type of gamer. It's not that hard to understand.

speticvirus

Some people like moving around their PCs, others don't. I have an HDTV, but I don't move lug my PC to it. Irreguardless, the sheer amount of people with PCs versus people with HDTVs means that there is a larger market for PC gaming than current gen console gaming.

So your response is to find every exception to the rule? Gaming on a $300 Dell? yeah that's a real hermit. And I think you and I are defining "comfortable" a bit differently. Sitting back on my couch is much more comfortable than sitting in my comfortable computer chair any day.

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="septicvirus"]C'mon man, I have a gaming pc. I have a nice living room set up. I don't want to keep a key board and mouse underneath my coffee table and whip it out every time I need to do something on my computer. People use their computers for more than just playing video games, this is my point.jdp0412

Which can easily be done on the TV. I mean, its the same as having multiple systems hooked up and switching between input devices. It isn't that hard to do. I'd much rather pick up a keyboard from under my table then walk back to my computer desk. You're wrong, admit it. Its NOT HARD NOR IMPRACTICAL to have a PC hooked up to your TV. I do, its easy.

I have to hit a button on my remote to switch between my multiple systems and input devices. I think you have diluded the conversation a bit.

Howis what I wrote impractical? At my house I actually have it the other way...I have my 360 hooked up to a switch so when someone is watching TV and I want to play 360 I can use my PC monitor...same thing it is very easy to do

Its not practical for him because he doesn't know jack about computers.

But it will take longer to do but you will have more customization from it.

dont get ahead of yourself, sure you can build a very decent computer for $800 but thats all it will be is a computer, except if your a p-rate you have to buy things like word and windows to get all the features you are refering to so add maybe $300, hermits need to stop trying to convince that with a rigg less than a $1000 will you be able to run games on the same level as consoles assuming you are a good buy and stay legal.

Depends many people own a copy of Xp, I own 2 for instance that came with past computers.. Many colleges give you free versions of it.. Mine for instance I can get Vista or word for free.

MAKE SENSE MUCH? An $800 pc, as you mentioned, IS more expensive than any console to date.

AND, MOST people don't know how to build an $800 gaming pc. Connecting a pc to a hdtv is not very complicated. MOST people would rather not have to keep their pc in that predicament full time.

This is better then the console I could make one for cheaper.. But the point stnads YOU NEED a computer for thigns OTHER THEN gaming.. I'm sorry what you said is not true. Building a gaming PC for $800 is complicated. The average person can walk into any electronics store and ask for what they need to connect their pc to their hdtv and get it done no problem. It is not complicated.

Errr, what are you talking about "taking your PC into your living room everytime" ... you know havnt it ever accurd to you that people have PC's in thier living room , part of thier home-cinema system? Its highly doable (buy a smart case) ...

HD TV's are over-priced -future-standard gimmicks ... you can brag about it all you like, but in the face of gaming its a gimmick gimmick gimmick

Did you just say hdtv's are a gimmick? I think we have just entered the "damage control" stage.

Computers in general are moer complicated then consoles.. Unlike consoles where you can plug and play pretty much you have to configure and some times trouble shoot.. This is why consoles are more popular because they are more simplistic to the average person.. They do not require research to buy one while building one certainly does and many hitchs can come across...

HDtv out for pc is difficult for some because A their video card may no thave the capabilities for this, B) there are different connections to the Tv as well that they might not have.. C) some driver versions do not support it so on and so fourth..

The reason why the computer isn't as popular is because its complicated.. Your other reasons are triival at best.. Because all can be done but the average person does not use it.. Why the hell do you think the majority of console fan boys think computers cost so much liek $2000? Because they refuse to research.. Why do you think that the average age for console gamers is significantly lower then pc gamers?

Really there is a trade off both are solid platforms, people just prefer pcs over consoles or vice versa.. SOme such as my self have both.

PCs support higher resolutions than today's HDTV standards but HDTV is far from a future-standard gimmick, do you realize how much programming is currently available in HD?

So far in this thread I have agreed with nothing the TC has said but I agree with him on the point that your statement is unfounded and outlandish
