I think people leave out the fact the some devs want to make these story driven, cinematic games. They are artists and creators and like any artist they want to create what they want to create.

I always laughed at the graphics vs gameplay threads because most pick gameplay I would bet because it is seen largely as the "right" answer in an interactive medium. But then all they do is piss and moan about what a game looks like.

Ive always believed there is a place for all types of games. No creative medium should close itself off to an avenue. And if a certain type existing or getting the bulk of coverage bothers you, get off your ass and make the games you want to be highlighted. "Be the change you want to see in the world", otherwise you're just a crybaby in a big crib.

We cannot forget nor pretend that the industry has a tendency of copying trends. If you are the type of gamer that enjoyed a particular game type and the most trending feature is directly affecting the games you play I don't see why any gamer affected by these trends should remain silent. Especially when developers are interested in fans feedback as of late.

Also its rather absurd to say "get off your ass and make the game you want to be highlighted". That is really stupid suggestion. There is difference between consuming games and making games.

Well we disagree. As Gandhi said Be the change you wish to see. He wanted a free India. He beat the British empire without firing a shot. So suggesting people put up or shut up doesn't seem so stupid imo. But you do you.

Otherwise you're screaming into a jet engine if the trend isn't to your liking. Trends come and go. To accept change as the only constant is wisdom. The current trend will change and the next one will also. Besides the cathartic release of venting, I don't see what crying about not liking what others like will do.

But it is a stupid suggestion. Its not a practical solution to offer anyone but a nonsensical strategy to silence people who share opinions that differ. One can argue that a lot of changes in the market of gaming as of late especially with the inclusion of females was because of people speaking out. That complaints made a change without gamers developing games. Change has and can occur from people speaking out.

If everyone decided to say nothing when they don't like something NOTHING would change. If everyone decided to "be the change you wish to see" (not applicable here) then everyone would be constantly changing careers everytime they encounter something they don't like.

Devs have been calling games cinematic since the Atari and NES days, and there's zero conflict between that and quality gameplay anyway. The only actual movie games are David Cage games.

what about Heavy Rain ? Detroy Become Human ... Beyond Soul ? Tell Tales Walking Dead ? The Last Of Us ? God Of War ? Tomb Raider ? Uncharted ?

They are all movies with interactive part. They are perfect games for Youtube since the only point of those are the reaction.

Never said that doesn't exist. But if a person is butthurt that these AAA Cinematic games are at the top in a way, crying about it isn't going to stop the masses from buying them. It certainly hasn't so far. So your comparison with a social change like women standing up for themselves bleeding into gaming equating to gamers crying about a type of game they personally like not being the golden child of the industry doesn't work.

As far as nothing would change? That's short minded horseshit. The fastest way to effect change in this world is hit the revenue. People don't have to say a word. Just don't buy and it will force change quicker than anything.

Who said anything about people complaining about games being cinematic in hopes of stopping people from purchasing? Gamers voicing their discontent has created change in the industry. You can call these gamers cry babies all you want but change has occur because of this vocalization. The comparison with women being included in more games now than before was because of gamers voicing their complaints. The same comments you are making about gamers who are voicing their dislike for overly cinematic gamers were the same comments made to gamers requesting more females in games. So, its rather odd you view it as different.

As I have said and you interpreted as "short minded horseshit", If everyone decided to say nothing when they don't like something NOTHING would change. You may live in a world where people walk around in silence, I don't.

Read better.

Games with dozens of encounters against hundreds of enemies that must be defeated with gunfire or sword fights blatantly aren't movies and it's thick to suggest they are.

Zelda has a few cutscenes, that must be a movie too! Lol.

I agree with your points. All Sony games look the same. I really like this kind if games but I hope they never pull another U4 on us again because, this "game" barely was a game.

Someone once said "there's zero conflict between that and quality gameplay anyway." in reference to cinematic games affects on gaming.

Even tho I'm PS4 fanboy, I have to say that God of War is a crap movie game.

The story, and therefore the movie clips, are horribly boring stuff.

And the game itself is repetitive and dull, with samey, boring monsters to hack at at every level.

Detroit is brill movie game. God of War is not.

I don't fully agree with you. The idea that nothing would change is absurd. Refusing to purchase instigates change faster than complaining.

And as usual this has become an "either or" argument. I'm not saying be silent, talk about going to extremes LOL Youre intelligent enough to know there are people on this board that complain about cinematic games.

I comment on what I see and if we don't agree oh well.
