God of War 2 isnt even going to be nominated for GOTY.

God of War 2 while a great game, it doesnt stand a chance against the holiday lineup.

Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Assasins Creed, Halo 3, COD4, Crysis, Bioshock, UT3, Mass Effect etc...

Is that really how little you know about the game? This is typical, face Value is not the best way to look at things ... Bioshock is also just a pretty Corridor Crawler ...

No might about it, some of those will be released, Little Big Planet's schedule for Q2 2008 (per E3 hands on), and including stuff like Hot Shots Golf, Home and Singstar... barrel scrapping at its finest.

You have to be blind to think that the 360 wont win this holiday season, Counting all the console exclusives as well it astounds me how you could think other wise, Firstly we start off with a thing called Bio Shock which should duke it out for Goty, Thats this months big game to come out, In September with have a small thing called Halo 3 and in November we have Mass Effect, These three titles alone destroy what the PS3 has to offer, The only Ps3 titles im really interested in is Uncharted: Drakes Fourtune, Ratchet and clank andWarhawk and their seems to be a cloud around Lair, I dont care though as i own all three next gen systems.

I think the Ps3 will start to flex its muscles next year but not now, The games that are on the 360 which a few of them should be goty contenders and the fact that so many Ps3 games are getting released letter than the 360 edtions how could you think other wise.

lair- Has recived sevaral average reviews so far.

heavenly sword- Developers last effort was average at best, Ill give it a chance but i wouldnt jump the gun just yet- Played the demo, Great graphices but nothing next gen about it judging soley for the demo

uncharted- I love Jak and Daxter so i give this the big tick

singstar- Does anyone care?

haze- I thinks it just a timed exlusive but the footage show loks likeitill be alright but it wont be that AAA, maybe 8.0 or 8.5

Unreal Tournament 3- Multi

time crisis 4- Its a shooter on rails, Not many will care.

ratchet and clank- I like Jak and daxter better but this looks great, big tick.

the agency- We have not seen much of it and i would rather have the conan mmorpg anyways.

wipeout hd- It will be solid but their not much they can add to the previous games,

socom- I havnt playedthem but i belive their meant to be quality.

tekken 6- 2008 release,

HOME-- Its not a game,

littlebigplanet- 2008,

warhawk- Id rather have Bf2,

folklore- Has had some average reviews,

pain- Wtf,

eye of judgement- Isnt it a card game ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ,

hot shots golf- System seller right here!!!,

kung fu hustle- Wtf,

9.2 wont be a GOTY candidate this year, sorry.

It'll be Bioshock, i cant see GS giving Mass Effect GOTY, even though i know i'd prefer ME over bioshock

And btw, MP3 and Crysis also have a real chance of GOTY.

360/PC: BIOSHOCK (imo this is the game to beat atm)

360: MASS EFFECT (has a real chance, but we still haven't seen enough of this title to be 100% sure)

Wii: SMG (everyone knows why I think, do I really need to explain?)

Other Possibles but unlikelys include:

Halo3 & MP3 (both franchises I really like/love, but I'm being realistic here)

IMO Halo 3 has a higher chance of being GOTY than either Bioshock or Mass Effect.

I think out of the games you mentioned it should be between Mario Galaxy (if it lives up to the hype) and Halo 3, and I would add in Call of Duty 4 because I think that is looking like a suprise hit...

My money on mass effect

glad to see some people on SW also have a clue..... people are asking why not "Call of Duty" or "Halo3", well as the TC and a fan of both COD & HALO (a big fan) I just couldn't put them up as I don't see anything thatabove and beyond their predecessors (yes I know HALO3 has alot of extra features), which is fine..... I'll buy them both and play the **** out of both of them..... but GOTY usually needs to have a unique style, look or feel.

So as great as Halo3 & COD4will be, I just really don't think they will win GOTY, I think the 3 titles I put in the POll are more deserving. I did not choose necessarily which games I WANT to be GOTY, I chose based on my experience as a gamer and what I've seen of each title thus far. I'd be perfectly happy if HALO3 won it, but it won't sry.

pain- Wtf,

Pain is a PSN game (so a big selling point... buy the $600 console for a $5 game) that looks like a tech demo for ragdoll physics, you launch a character, catapult style, at a street or other dull location, and try and knock things over or smash windows, I got bored watching the gameplay demo.

Echochrome, thats a different matter, someone appears to have had an original thought and not been shot for it, simple but looks like it could get you hooked easily enough, every system needs a decent puzzler... shame its a PSN game that most will ignore, or avoid due to the graphical nature.

MSG4, FF13 and FFv13... the topic is GOTY 2007, these will be lucky to appear next year, Haze and Killzone fall into the same trap as Halo 3 and UT3... sequels very rarely do well in contests like these if they don't offer anything new.

I voted for Bioshock because come Tuesday that is the game to beat.

I really want Hotel Dusk to be GotY but I won't hold my breath :P

Ha, I agree with Zandeus. Wow.

The only reason SSBM wast an AAA GoTY was because though it was fun, pure fun, it was basicly multiplayer, offline mulitplayer, with no singleplayer really, and no substance.

SSBB has a full robust singleplayer, with cutscenes for each character, and focus on character devolpement.

It also is sure to have online, and if it has online lobbys (this is a must) and with this single player mode, I seriously think this game will be GoTY material.

I love Halo.... but I didn't put it up as a choice, because I don't believe it can stand up to the other 3 titles.

That made me chuckle. Im a cow, but you just said Halo 3 cant stand up to the other titles. Halo 3 is the biggest title on the xbox 360. One of the biggest, if not the biggest titles on consoles this gen.

Its called "Being Realistic", there's been nothing out on the PS3 that would even get close to topping those, and unless Sony have some uber title coming that they haven't hyped the life out of (and thats pretty unlikely when they hyped the likes of Killzone) then those three seem pretty reasonable.

Is PC not included in GOTY contention? They have some serious games being released this year, might builda PC just for them.

Who made you the decider of what is GOTY material or not. I think that Bioshock has a good chance, but Call of Duty 4 could be right there as well. Team Fortress 2 or Half Life Episode 2 could be there as well if they make it out before the end of the year. Crysis has a lot of potential, but the story still leaves me wondering if it will go beyond the graphics. Kane and Lynch looks like it could be a solid game that can complete. Halo 3 will come in strong, since it is wrapping up the trilogy. God of War 2 was a huge surprise considering it was a sequel. There is just so much coming out that I can't see how you are limiting it to these three games.

Not to sound mean you can't even put any these games out for GOTY because none of them are even out yet. I understand that you put what game would have the best chance but the bottom line is you can't even say what is gonna have the best chance because the final product is not out yet. Now I know BIOSHOCK has a demo out, and it was a bad ass one at that, but the official game is not out yet. Why don't we wait until these games come out officially then make the interpetation?

Good point, however I'm not a patient person, also I believe myself to be quite knowledgable about the game industry and ableto see quality in games b4 I get the finished product, and since I've been gamingfor over 20 years & studied Electronic Game Design in collegeI feel like I got a pretty good idea what a good game is.... I didn't start gaming with the PS or N64, I started with the Coleco Vision baby! Old Skool FTW!

PS- Not saying you started gaming with the PS or N64, I'm just saying, I value the opinions of people who have been gaming longer as opposed to people whose first game was FFVII or Crash Bandicoot on the PS, know what I mean?
