A great video comparing the two online services.

I think I can agree with most of the points that the reviewer made.

I am sick of these topics. We have all come to the same conclusion that Xbox Live is a superior service to PSN in ever way. Game over, topic closed, no more questions.
Never underestimate teh power of teh cell / BR combo b/c many Sony loyalist will try and emphasise teh...
Yamauchi already said PSN was fail in comparison to XBL. No other comments on the matter are needed.
Xlive has few better features but when you play games like call of duty 2 online there is no difference there are the same. playing CoD:MW2 online on Live or PSN its the same. the game is not better on Live or PSN its the same.

Well to me it sounded like he said ""we have to do the work on psn so live is better"
Is it really the same when you are unable to play online for the first few days with the PS3 version and instantly with the 360?Xlive has few better features but when you play games like call of duty 2 online there is no difference there are the same. playing CoD:MW2 online on Live or PSN its the same. the game is not better on Live or PSN its the same.

I also don't remember and Xbox Live updates breaking my games. You make it sound like MS poops rainbows and gives you free money.
I'm glad you've given yourself the authority to declare the winner by fiat. As a matter of fact, I disagree. Not only is Xbox LIve an inferior service, it is one of the worst services on the market and it carries a joke of a price tag for a joke of a service. Now there's no more questions, the debates closed, and I win of course.I am sick of these topics. We have all come to the same conclusion that Xbox Live is a superior service to PSN in ever way. Don't forget about PSN will have paid monthly which is possibly release in 2010. Don't worry, guys...there's will have optional between paid and free.
Source? In about 2 month old, Gamespot already put it up news on Gamespot.
Don't blame me, my grammar is not that great...it's not my first lanuages :P
There is really no diff aside from cross game voice chat and xbl being a bit more stable.

Everything is intergrated while on PSN you're separated by launching apps.

Launching apps that have inherently more power behind them? How does something being built into the interface make it immediately better? Plus what about serving to eliminate clutter? Are things easier to find when they're strewn all over your floor or when they're filed neatly away in well labeled drawers?Good thinkin', bro. Your logic is flawless.Brownesque
I just want you to know you really crack me up, don't think your humor goes to waste...tho the people you target it at probably miss it.
On topic:
When is xbox live getting dedicated servers for first party games, ability to serf online unhinderd by company policies, more big budget high number player on-line games (Resistance = 40, Resistance 2 = 60pp, Killzone 2 = 32 upcomming MAG 256 ect.) and dedicated user content created modable online games (LBP ect..)?
Just some burnig questions in my head for people that seem to think that xbox live is somehow superior to PSN especially in the relm of online gaming.

What? I dont launch apps when i use freinds list, account managment, ect.
It's not that PSN isn't integrated at all. It's that XBL just does it much better. PSN still has you launch a separate app for its store. It launches the browser for several things, including any special events or promotions.
To people like us who are more hardcore than most, the difference isn't a deal-breaker. But there IS a difference. XBL is just more consistent in its design.
Does this surprise anyone? MS is a software company. We're talking about software, their bread n butter. If you want to talk hardware, Sony's got that in the bag. But the subject here is online. Sorry. MS has got THAT in the bag.
i am tired of this topic but at least this time there's some decent information provided. the video was pretty good. i'm still happy with my PSN since I'm not into all the extra stuff. Fumpa
The main thing I wanted to show is that the $50 you pay for Xbox Live is worth it to a lot of people. Although at the same time, many people don't need those features.
Honestly Round 7 should have gone to Playstation and Round 6 should have gone to Xbox.
And Modern Warfare 2 had problems in the Begining because they underrestimated the amount of people that would be online on PS3s, after all, The game was advertised as a 360 game.
Maybe the Paid service for the PS3 (if there will be one) will have a similar service to the 360. However that Music station thing Europe has is pretty sweet.
Doesnt mention how much faster the downloading of demo's and patches is on 360 PLUS what I believe is the best feature GAMES ON DEMAND!!!
People dont relize you can buy over 100 full xbox 360 games on demand ( prob half are overpriced but TONS are priced perfectly )
XBL is the better service, but PSN still gets the job done.racing1750Yeah I agree. I mean, when I play with a friend on PSN, cellphones are invlolved, but at least we don't have to pay for it. LIVE is better, and you gotta appreciate the ratio of users with headsets to users without, even if you don't care about the other features. PSN feels quiet by comparison, which sucks imo.
XBL and PSN are even. The only needed feature XBL has over PSN is cross game chat. They both offer small features that the other does not. PSN has PS Home, Comics, Web Browser and so on. XBL offers Voice messages, the ability to change your name for $12, Game Room, the ability to delete your achievements and so on. They also share features such as Custom soundtracks, friends list, cross game invite, online gaming, in-box/outbox, Trophies/Achievements, block list, Instant messengers, facebook, and so on.
This is silly, XBOX LIVE is better without question. I use PSN quite often but there is no comparison between the two, LIVE wins hands down.
Better != superior. People's grasp of the english language is severely lacking.
As an overall service, XBL is indeed better with all it's cool bells and whistles (useless to a regular gamer but still). As a gaming service, PSN is more streamlined and doesn't hold your own already paid connection for ransom (aka FREE). XBL gets a slight nod for having the one thing PSN doesn't have: party chat.
I choose Xbox Live over PSN for reasons that you don't necesarily find on a feature list powerpoint presentation. I like it for reasons that most people take for granted.
Overall, what I like isn't something that can be experienced after playing a few games. I started to notice the difference over time. The little conveniences add up, showing just how well it's all put together.
As I played both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network more and more, I noticed a noticeable divide between the ways both systems are set up. Xbox Live is just more conducive to forming a community than PSN is. There are more opportunities to communicate, more opportunities to play with each other and more attention given to community members on Xbox Live.
MS recognizes that subscribers are more than just a group of people that play online. XBL is the means by which those members stay cohesive and active. XBL is how that random group of folks becomes a community, by allowing them to meet up with other people in ways that make sense. The end result is a much less random experience if you take advantage of what's there:
Granted, MS really screwed up with the hardware and they're stuggling with the pricing of content like Games on Demand, but Xbox Live... they totally got right. PS3 graphics and disc storage be damned. If I had to choose all over again, I'd still pick the Xbox 360 mostly because of their implementation of Xbox Live.
