right now my one hang-up is the price of the online (what's it going to be?!), the fact they're charging for it, I want to know how much that's going to be, I'm not going to pay for any $50/$60 a year for a Nintendo online service, Microsoft and Sony can ask for that given all the AAA third party multiplat gaming the system has and the mileage players of each can get out of them, but Nintendo, many of the third party games will just be JRPGs and very few of Nintendo's own games will use online except for stuff like Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Splatoon, but beyond that, they can't really justify paying for online without those western AAA multiplats, which I wasn't even anticipating having to worry about with a Nintendo system

False right of the bat. Wii U had NOTHING like Zelda at launch. Yes not as many games as we would like, but if you have an Xbox, PS4 or PC (ideally all 3) you'll never have issues with having enough games.

I am not sure why so many are using the 3DS as a reference. This a home console. Remember that Nintendo is marketing the device as a home console.

I'm starting to get tired of seeing these kinds of threads...but seriously, yes, the third party lineup is pretty bad, but first party is definitely an improvement. We didn't have a killer app Zelda AND Mario game in the same year it released. Those two games are what drove me over the line of pre-order hesitation, Wii U never had its own Zelda game and it launched with NSMB which was a poor choice.

Because no matter what Nintendo markets this as, it also gets their handheld library. That automatically makes it a more compelling proposition than a Nintendo home console.

At the moment the Switch also would not have its own Zelda game.

In terms of 3rd party support, it could wind up just as forgotten. Wii U's launch had a bunch of late ports, NSMB, and the weird mini game collection, Nintendoland. Zelda is better, so the Switch at least has that going for it.

That's true and a potential downfall for Switch's launch, but the good thing is that Switch actually has it available like the original Wii with Twilight Princess. Wii U didn't have a high caliber game to kick it off which I think is a bigger weakness.

That is left to be seen and at the moment hopeful thinking.

Personally, I think they are just buying time to E3. They would sell out at launch no matter what and having BoTW enticing early adopters to jump now and ask questions later should get them through to June where we can see what is actually happening with this system.

I'll admit, it is a sobering thought to say as an early adopter that I made a leap of faith Day One'ing this thing. However, with the online offering still not fleshed out and them having 80 games in active development, my money is on them not showing up at E3 empty handed this year. It's arguably even more important than having a wham-bam unveiling event in early January.

Nintendo's core audience is for their handhelds. The WiiU cleared the dust on that. The console unveil was a formality for hardcore gamers like us. Bombing Youtube with new game reveals in June is a far more effective way to meet their base. It's just soind business.

Of course I am bothered about it. I don't like it and I'm wondering why people are flocking like birds at this thing. I am completely bothered about why people are getting dumber about their tastes, and people should too.

All the switch launch as done has made me look at picking up a second hand Wii u for Zelda.

Nothing on the switch looks appealing and it's gimmick is not a draw to me.

I bought the Wii U to hopefully play my first Zelda game and that was 3 years ago. Zelda BotW needs to be one amazing game for me to think about getting a switch for the next Zelda game.

That's because I do not take kindly to people who enjoy something I find stupid. Just looking at it makes me think humanity is in the era of stupidity.

They should've at least made it as powerful as an XB1 to get better support. It has a handheld/tablet with a touch screen like the Wii U did.

I don't know what Nintendo was smokin' when they made this. I don't know how a team of people ended up with this. They should've made normal console with probably those joy-cons and that's it.

Launch seems sparse the the spacing between releases looks a bit better that it was on wii u.

The Nintendo Switch will eventually get a mainline Pokemon series, so no. That on itself will make it more successful than the Wii U.

Disgaea 5 complete is close to launch and the game I want the most on a hybrid console so i'm good.

This didn't happen for the Wii U. That's already a sign that it's going to outperform the Wii U quite comfortably.
